I’ve just began to show interest in digital marketing. My main worry is delivering the service that the client will have spent money on, I decided I’m going to work in my friends agency for a few months in different positions just to learn the in’s and out’s. The get rich quick mindset is a good motivator but can be the very reason an aspiring entrepreneur might never have longevity for their service and business overall. Thanks for your honesty, hard legitimate work pays off!
I 100% agree with you. I spent 6 years in my service company, 3 years practicing PPC, work with hundreds of shops and distribute film to my industry AND tint about 350-500 cars a year. I still felt very under skilled to offer PPC work to other shops. When they say it’s easy to make 10,000 a month I wish they would talk about the length of that client. It is not easy to scale and you need to know many skills to offer a digital marketing agency.
100% the 1-hour videos to setup an SMMA can be summarised as: know how to sell + be an expert at that specific niche that is all, the rest is business management and operations
Such a breath of fresh air Aaron, It's literally a conveyor belt strategy with this "arbitrage" method. Your work will look very generic and inconsistent I'd imagine, since you won't have a stable team. I couldn't in good conscience charge clients a premium price while paying someone from a poorer country very little to then pocket the profits for myself. I know that's literally what most businesses do with cheap labour. I'm hopefully going to start my own digital agency within the next few years, I am currently doing my MSc international marketing but did my undergrad in commercial photography. So product Photography is what I specialise in but I also do graphic and web design. At the moment while I'm studying I'm building up my website with client work, which I'm actually doing for one of my Modules at university. I have a few friends that are freelancers so if I were to do the whole hiring freelancers it would be them I'd go to, and I would also get involved myself and learn about their craft so I actually have a clue of what they do so I can create project briefs for them. Yeah I won't become a millionaire but I'd be doing something I love and to a higher standard. To make a business like this takes time and it needs a solid foundation not a weak one that will burn out quickly
I've been trying to learn as much as possible about digital marketing for a good while. And yes, people or RU-vidrs are really making marketing look very "Sprezzatura". Thank you, Aaron for making this clear, for me and many others who are new in this industry.
And also know the difference between marketing, advertising, and public relations and like he said in the video all the services that each of those can provide.
I 100% agree. Let sanity prevail. I never understood how people 'build' businesses without real hard work, dedication and building lasting relationships with clients.
This is brilliant, I’ve recently been working toward starting a agency that specialises in seo and organic marketing, and have found that before starting this buisness, you NEED to know exactly how everything works
Thanks for the advice Aaron but there is 1 major struggle that I could not get the answer for. How do we sell to the VERY FIRST client in order to successfully complete the job and have a case study? Any advice for that very first contract? on how to make him sign?
@@antidelusionalpeepsyou didn't get it as per entrepreneur pov you have to work for free for the first time ... Mm i guess you've heard of free trial .. he didn't mean offer complete free service.. he basically meant like ... Do a free portion of it or said that you will pay only when you see one half of the results ... Selling completely free is absolutely worst
I don’t know why Iman is in the thumbnail. He’s talked about how you have to put in hard work a bunch of times. He has his whole journey on his channel from when he was 15 and it took him years to get where he is
He explains the basics that you need first to start and learn the "how" in detail. Quite different from all the videos promising results without being clear on what you need to learn first to be successful.
Thank you for this. I’m an in-house, and the company hired a third-party. It was a disaster, until I came in. It was so bad, I considered if I ever gave products which they produced, I would have failed a marketing project in school (not saying school is a requirement but it definitely set a standard for me.) It definitely makes a difference to truly know the industry, vs. becoming a marketing mill and targeting businesses that are expecting professional work. I can’t considering it marketing. Loved this video!
This is great, I’ll definitely be checking out more of your videos. I have a local family friend real estate agent who’s helped us out and been close these for 10 years. I was thinking about reaching out to her and offering to build a website, set up auto text back and run ads for free in exchange for referrals as she knows many real estate agents and loan officers. Of course I’ll implement all of your suggestions also. Whats your opinion on this strategy?
-focus on one specific niche, for example, Google ads, and become an expert in that area -your success stories can help you get more sales and more income -your businnes grow won't be linear but exponential -most people will overstimate what they can do in 1 years and understimate what they can achiev in 10 years.
Yes a lot of those videos seem so flimsy. I'm watching them thinking there are so many holes in their explanations and strategies, which they always seem to conveniently ignore.
Your video structure is like most here on youtube: Differentiation from competitors Credability Problem Solution Offer Link Which is common and follows the common principles, but the value knowledge you provided (1. Do Sales, 2. Expertise) is not too different from your competitors. Still liked the video. good work.
This video is bs because nobody said that you wont be delivering and it wont be difficult. The only thing that makes this worthwhile and attractive is that its a low barrier to entry business for people. There is no shortcut to anything. We know this.
I don't understand why would you say what you are saying, and have a thumbnail like the one you have. You say 2 most important things are 1) Knowing how to sell and 2) Being an expert And how do you think anyone starting is going to have those 2 things already? Of course, no one knows to sell because they are just starting, but they will understand that once they start working on their business, everyone starts not knowing anything... I find your video very ignorant and annoying.
Thanks for saying this. I am so sick of seeing these creators. They really just preying on the vulnerable. I’m grateful I have a long history of sales experience too. I’m not sure what google ads speciality is about and what that’s about. Companies hire you specifically for just their google ad words? I’m starting to make money off a Facebook page and slowly becoming a Meta specialist
Great video! Thank you for sharing this info! I have a question for you if you don't mind - Is closing via zoom / video calls crucial, or can someone close well over the phone if they have mastered their expertise in the service they are selling and understand the mechanics of their target niche?
Don’t believe anyone who’s is trying to sell you something, at the very best they are speaking half truths… the best way to start anything is to read and research about it then after you get a hold of the concept do it till your comfortable with it… but sometimes u get lucky and you start making the money, depending on what you begin with and when you begin it… if your a hustler then do it and if u fail then u learn from ur mistakes…
My Business Partner and I have buildt the website for our Agency, and hoped that clients will reach out. We just had to sell, which is what we.ve been avoiding>
Agree, these youtubers do build succesfull agencies but even if their way works to earn a bit of money, i wouldn't want to have build my agency on kind of scamming my first few customers just to get money. I wouldn't be able to live with the fact that i sell a service from which i know i can't really do yet. My question to you is when would you say is fair to start going to companies and offer your service? i have learned google ads just by watching a lot of videos and trying it on 2 accounts succesfully (20k budget per month and 3k budget per month) but am still not sure if i am ready to offer it since i don't want to let someone that pays me 2000$ a month down with bad results. Kind of in a moral dilemma
Hi Aleks, that is a great start with the 2 x campaigns. What I did was use the results from my first campaign, this the gave the new client an insight into the type of results that I could get for them. This is why I recommend that you start to get clients who are in the same niche (but don’t a direct competitor) of your current accounts - so you can use related results. I hope that helps
@@AaronYoungGoogleAds Thanks for the advice, however i am in a very unique situation, the 20k account i run is my own business and since i am in the Netherlands and we target the whole country there isn't anyone else to service since that wouldn't benefit my first business. I think i just have to jump in the deep end and close a client in a new niche and just go all in giving it my all. Keep making these great videos i am going to buy your course soon
@@AaronYoungGoogleAds aren't all clients who are in that same niche, direct competitors with each other? Have u lost clients bcos they don't want to work with u, as u're collaborating w their competitors?
What if I dont want to become a millionaire, I work as a QA analyst in argentina making 3.5k a month, which is a lot of money here because of the currency exchange. If Im able to generate 3-5k a month I´ll be set for starters, I just want to run adds for existing companies and get money off the clicks or sales without having to get my own clients, how can I do that?
Completely agree. I find it hilarious that many of these "Start a SMMA in 1 month" videos. Like holy shit what a scam you're teaching people to start. I could *never* ask people for their hard earned money for something I just learned a couple weeks ago. People need to learn patience. I'd been doing web development for 6 years, a few years of which I worked at a marketing agency, before I started my web/marketing agency. I was never comfortable with sales until I had built up years of experience. Anyone who wants to start a SMMA should first start some sort of simple business like an e-commerce store or affiliate marketing blog, etc. before moving to a marketing agency. You need to get deep experience marketing products before you start selling those services to people. If you can't start a successful small business doing e-commerce or something similar, you are absolutely NOT QUALIFIED to be starting a marketing agency. And it is incredibly obvious how many people fail because of how apprehensive companies are to pay for marketing agencies, because 90% of marketing agencies are scams due to inexperience. For me to get a sale, many companies want to see so much proof that I can actually do what I say I can even for simple services like SEO because so many companies they've tried working with completely failed to deliver what was promised.
No worries at all I totally understand that it is not for everyone. We already have a strong community who are finding great value in the 2 live sessions a month and supportive community feed. I hope you continue to find value in my free teaching on YT.
Great advice but I don´t see the point in fronting these gurus. You are telling us, that we need testimonials and this is for sure right but most of the gurus show us actually how to get them. You don´t. You´re just saying that we need them. Everyone knows that you need experience in the field where you want to sell. But how do I get these testimonials without trying? The gurus tell us that we should offer 2 weeks of free work to learn this and get a testimonial for it. What´s your advice when it comes to first testimonials?
Hi Simon, there is no way of hiding the fact that the first clients and testimonials are the hardest. My issue with the 2 weeks of free work is that with Google Ads 2 weeks is not relevant data as for many clients the acquisition window is 2 weeks. I do have other videos where I discuss a good starting point is reaching out to friends to see if you can do some free work BUT I would be doing at least 90 days of work and results before getting a testimonial. My whole point is that success takes time and it’s not just a quick win solution. Hope that makes sense
@@AaronYoungGoogleAds Thank you for the answer and advice! I appreciate it. Didn‘t mean to sound like a hate comment. I was a bit curious. Keep up the work g
I wish there was a in the event you have 0 trades skills till your thirty field guide cause all the videos say EASY and Explain Zero Mechanics they dont tell you what skills you need or how and or ware to acquire them what miracle books there are are limited by what you know your looking for
Personally I think it’s good to have a general understanding about all platforms BUT have expert knowledge in one area (for me it’s Google Ads). The reason for this is because if you excel in one area you charge a much higher management fee and you can bring significant business changing results that are worth every cent that you are charging.
Hey Paolo, there is no hiding the fact that the first couple of clients are always the hardest to get. I am planning out some new videos to address this exact issue
I meann this is what other agency owners say expert your niche and be a good salesman, care for the customer and show them that u can and will finish the job. Nothing new
I like how everyone on this topic says "dont listen to other guys" you could all be full of bs for all i know Best advice is to study all Not follow, but study every video and see how are they different and what maybe one is better than the other
100% agree with Chaos, which is why I only started to release videos on YT after I had been doing this profitably for over 10 years. All the best for 2023 in your business 👍🏻
Lol. Don't go ahead and take (mtigated/calculated) risks on your own, but instead waste time and money on my course so you can become an expert like me. Everyone has an agenda ;)
These guys with courses…pay $1500 to get what you can get free and then in the end you what’s really going to make you money was you learning the hard way anyway. So I keep my money and just accept this is never going to be easy
It’s been going on since 2000s they will die out. They need to learn ads, sales and hiring. Just one of those takes months to learn not mention finding a good lead gen for finding new clients.
First focus on your skill set and then when you have gained some confidence & experience put in the hours to find clients. All the best for your journey 👍🏻
i genuinely want to help local businesses thrive. Whenever i shop or eat at a place and i see little to no customers, i want to help them, but i dont have the skillls. I know several acquaintances that are starting or have already a business, but they do not get many customers. What skill should i start to help them?
I work as freelance account manager and strategist. I always wondered why on Upwork there were so many people looking for media buyers with the exact same descriptions and $500 a client offer. After a while I started to see the videos and put two and two together. No wonder so many of my clients had these horribly managed accounts and clueless agencies. It's truly a pandemic of fake businesses. Appreciate you addressing this.
Believe in yourself, keep doing your research I’ve been doing it since 2017. I would say the key thing is stay humble in the beginning don’t be a shark cause you’ll only end being made a fool
Believe that if you want to achieve any success it takes time and work. On average it takes 3 years to get your business pass the early stage and start generating solid revenue. Getting clients and closing the deals is the most challenging part and sometimes it can’t go on for months. Coming from a person who helps companies grow and build their solid salesforce for over 10 years now.
