I like when you said R&D research and duplicate. I have loads of designs in my mind and the only thing I am worried about is the legal/copyright aspect. Although everything I have in my mind is original and authentic but I want to learn, what comes under copyright infringement, how to stay away from that and most importantly protect your own brand.

Great video. I did try to start a handbag business last yr. And it can get quite expensive having manufacturers send you samples of the bags, so you have to haggle a bit, most of the cost were from shipping, I recieved mine from China on Alibaba and some samples were not as I expected. Some of the hardware had rust, materials were cheap...so def. Due diligence is in order when dealing with these manufacturers. my husband and I were expecting our first child so to allocate my funds towards our new born I decided to put it on hold...now I'm making all natural soy candles. But I may go back to the handbags but outsource from India and go towards handmade, all natural fibers materials....

the issue with ali baba etc is they have a MOQ of like 500 pieces sometimes and when you're starting your own handbag company, you don't have a guarantee that all 500 bags will sell, its more risky. Also, to have your own customised logo on several bags, they might ask you to place 500 orders for EACH COLOUR if you are wanting several colours, if you want to customise your logo on it. They don't accept like 250 for one colour and 250 for another with your logos, it has to be 500 each colour if you want logos.

hi, your video may be short but so inspiring - you actually make me wanna go create a designer bag I want for myself that really needs to be created (lol) - one that I've been thinking of creating for years! Never even thought about doing it seriously before for real, till I just saw your video. Now I am inspired to just go do it. I actually want to create a very posh upmarket line of denim handbags - as I love denim and it is def lacking in the high end sector. I'm in film business, not a designer any all, and no idea how to sew. But I love a great bag! And there's so few good denim ones that attract attention! How do I go about getting the designs I have in my head and on paper actually made by someone as a demo, with me still retaining full rights as creator and seller? I would obviously pay someone and buy materials - but how on earth do I find someone to make one for me that I can trust and who does quality work? And advice hugely appreciated! Im near Santa Monica, CA. Tx!

In regards to the shipping conversation: The costs needs to be considered all around what it takes...just like you said...packaging, tape, time, time to get to post office, gas....everything...which is technically called "Handling"...which is why the shipping costs is actually covering "Shipping & Handling". I can't stand when people want their shipping free. Get real
