How to start a Series 60 Detroit Swap Mawk wiring 12.7 14L DDEC IV 

J.C., the Mawk harness kit came with a check engine and a stop engine light, along with the 6 pin connector- which I will be using in the finished product. For firing up a Detroit engine ( in the truck or even just on the floor) the lights aren''t necessary... that's what I was trying to help guys figure out how to do with this video. If you just want to fire one up to see if it runs it's almost impossible to find anything on the internet or youtube.

Bob Brenner do you happen to have the instructions and the pin out that came with the harness. mawk has retired and i need those instructions if possible.would you be able to email them if you still have them?

@@BobFM1795 I have a detroit 60 and the ECM is hot when I use a test light from the engine frame ground to touching the box itself, any suggestions why it's hot???

@@davidholland9352 it was my timing sensors, they were bad . And also some wiring from the batteries had corrosion in them. So i replaced those wires and the timing sensors . Also check grounded wires make sure theyre clean and have good contact with metal . There could be a short messing up timing sensor signals or other critical sensors that shut down engine like oil pressure too high or coolant too low.

That five pin power harness connector is the same as the connector on a S-10 pickup windshield wiper motor . Wire in larger gauge wire into it .

I'm making this to go into a 1986 Pete 359... which obviously never had an ECM from the factory. If your trying to replace an existing engine with a Detroit 60 series, if it was a make and model that came from the factory with the option to have a detrioit then you should be able to purchase the harness from the dealer. Example: 2009 Freightliner Columbia had the option for a DD15 or Series 60. So, you could swap out your DD15 and buy the harness from the Freightliner dealer. Hope that helps.

I think so. I comes with the 6 pin data link for inside the truck but only has 2 wires going to it. I would call Mawk and ask to be sure.

I had to make my own, because the mounts that I had would have had the engine sitting too far forward and about 3 inches too low in the back. You just have to get creative and don't be too hard on yourself if it doesn't look factory made. A little black paint goes a long way to hide imperfections!

@@dantew6708 I've got a 2002 KW T600 with a pre-egr ISX, 13 speed and 8 bag air suspension with 3.55 (i think). I'll sell you the whole truck for $12,500. Runs and drives... was hauling lumber everyday until a month ago when I let the driver go for other reasons.

@@BobFM1795 That's honestly not a bad deal. I got a buddy with a T6 with similar specs but his is a 98 I believe and it has an N14 in it. and he wants 13,500 for it. Me and my dad would buy it but we got too many trucks right now. We got 2-century class, an internal dump truck, and an international that were building to haul dump trailers with and i also have a cabover.

That's a good deal but if it was an even better deal we would've hoped on it right away.

The vehicle interface harness is from Mawk Industries. The engine side is factory stock.

Black Sam I don’t know anybody else making them. You could probably make your own, especially if you didn’t care about cruise control, and used old style gauges and fan control. Eliminate safety features like low oil shutdown and low coolant sensor, etc. if you can get it running and get the throttle working (like I din in this video) the engine will power the truck. The rest is is just how much computer control you want. If I knew then what I know now I probably wouldn’t have bought the harness. I would have went to a truck junk yard and found the vehicle interface harness with connectors and 10 feet of wire or so and labeled them myself.
