How to start an internet radio station from home 

i just got my kit under 6 months ago. I have been meaning to start. Just today I pulled everything out and followed your lead. Got it up and going. You made it sound so simple and easy to follow.

Nice out of the box equipment setup. But you didn't mention how to broadcast online 😬 Although, it's not too difficult. Just choose audio managing software like Mixxx, then a service provider to broadcast online and out to your listeners. Easy peasy.

Thanks for the video! I just want to point out that, in setting up, you want the input from the U-Control going to the output of the Xenyx and vice versa. This was one of the few points that weren't totally clear from the video.

Hi... just to clarify the phono connections from UCA202 to the mixer... input on the mixer goes to output on the UCA202... output on the mixer goes to input on the UCA202. Apparently this mixer has about 17v phantom power always on [not switchable]... on XLR input. Enjoyed watching and helpful, thanks

I have this set up I got several years ago. I didn't think you could run two microphones on it. What microphones work? Do they have to have their own power if you plug in the non-XLR?

Great post, great subject! So much information is needed on this subject. If you notice, there are few post on this subject, and the most find it difficult to explain clearly a technical process. I think your video was good. But, Why didn’t you just explain the process first, and then smoothly walk us through it? I’m asking you a question,NOT Attacking you, or criticizing you, or anything else! I am just asking you a simple question! As a teacher, I find that my students tend to understand better when I don’t try to demonstrate and explain a new process at the same time! Please consider just explaining it simply in one sentence, first. Then demonstrate what you just explained in that first sentence. Finally explain how what you just demonstrated brings each of the things together that you first explained in your first sentence. It’ll be easier to understand, I guarantee! Could I plug in more than 3 microphones? Could I use L + R inputs on the same channel to plug in 2 microphones to a channel? Obviously, the levels of these 2 microphones would be the same, but is it possible to do? Thank you

I see you have two mics plugged in, I am trying this with mine for a podcast but the sound from the 2nd mic is really poor, any ideas where I am going wrong? I have it set up exactly like you do in this video.

Hey Crystal! I have troubleshooting with the input- I also have the legend "The selected device has no input controls" as it shows on your video @ second 8:34 so, I don´t have any sound coming in. How did you solve this issue? I don´t really get it! I´ll be really thankful for your help it has been a struggle to find reference here in México.

Nice Video, but only Channel one (and here only the XLR Connection) is for Mics. Every other Input on the Behringer Xenyx 502 is just for Line Level Signals (with about 1V to 2V) .. the Sound from a Dynamic Mic on this Inputs will be to low or noisy.. (I guess..) ! Only the second Input on Channel one is a bit better (it has more Gain), but also only really good for Line Level Signals.. And for Condenser Mics, You have to check, if it really works with about 14 V to 15 V of Phantom Power that this Sound Mixer provides. Some Condenser Mics need more Phantom Power (48V), otherwise the Mic could be to noisy.. But true and like it is said in the Video: You should only use one of the two Inputs on Channel One at the same Time.. So with this Audio Mixer, for a second Mic you also need a second Mic Preamp..

I'm about to jump in with the podcasting, But it looks like it might cost about $1,500 to $2,000 to get it set up the way I want it. Those mixers start getting high quick, I want to use a 16-Channel mixer.

You don't need a mixer to start an internet 'radio station' from home; such come at a pretty advanced stage.

The audio interface between the mixer and the USB port of the laptop needs to be explained properly. To all podcast, RU-vidrs and Internet radio enthusiasts would advise to go for the Behringer QS 502 USB since it has a built in audio interface that can be directly be connected to the USB port of a laptop or pc.

I have a Weymic Professional Mixer | 7-Channel 2-Bus Mixer with a CZE-7C FM transmitter. How do I connect a microphone to the mixer so that when I am talking, I can hear myself on the radio? I am currently using my computer to play music and I was able to connect the transmitter and computer to play music. Music can be heard on the radio. The only problem I am having is connecting a microphone to the mixer so when I speak, I can hear myself on the radio. I have three Pyler dynamic wired microphones with the XLR hooked up to the microphone itself and a 1/4 inch jack on the other end. According to the picture of the mixer, the thin two way RCA to 1/8 inch cable is connected from one of the outputs jacks next to the mic inputs to the headphone jack on my computer. The fatter two way cable next to it is connected to the audio jack on the FM transmitter. If I use XLR to XLR cables for the mic input, what cables I need for the output so I can hear myself on the radio (I always have a radio nearby to test the connection)? Any assistance will be appreciated.

Somebody needs an XLR splitter and an extra XLR cable...Mics don't do well all the time with 1/4 line inputs that are meant for CD/cassette players and musical instruments (just depends on the mixer/USB interface), so I use an XLR splitter if the mixer/USB interface only has one XLR input. Also, it's not a good idea to mix dynamic and condenser mics, so either two dynamic or two condenser mics need to be used if using two mics.
