Writing the literature review of your thesis (or even the background research in a paper) is somewhat difficult. The most common question is "where do I start from?". In this video you will learn about the significance of the literature review, and how to organise your research and process it in the most effective and efficient way.

Literature review is one of the most important aspect of any research topic. Many thanks 👍 for the information.

Indeed! I find it quite frustrating when some students think that there is no purpose in writing a literature review and they want to jump straight to the main body of the thesis....but doing research is actually the lit review. As Albert Einstein used to say 'to find the right question is the most difficult part of research'. Many thanks for watching!

Hy, how much inforamtion should we retrieve from a paper. I found my colleagues retriving huge info from a single paper, which i think is not systematic. Can you procide your suggestions?

It depends if it is a core paper for your research or it will be used for your bibliography. Important is to understand the main findings and whether they are justified well. Not all published papers they have valuable findings. If they have been used for the development of codes, practices, processes, design guidelines etc. they are probably very good, and you need to know/remember this. Not the fine details. Let me know if that helps. Best wishes, KDT
