It was really nice and helpful to see someone who works a 9-5 job plan their time. I find many planners are content creators and their work /life schedules (time management) are so far removed from my reality that it isn't helpful. So thank you so much for the content you do. I can't wait to take a biweekly look at my schedule! 😊

I design my own laminated 8wk cleaning rota. There's daily tasks & normal cleaning that get highlighted. I set a timer for ½ hr then get to it. When the timer goes off, i migrate the other tasks to the next week. Deep clean tasks on 1 day, again for ½ hr. Weekend's are the normal daliy tasks and ironing. I created 12 week cleaning rota for my mother as well, that works for her huge house. Friends system: I have contact (phone, text, song or a coffee) a friend once per week. That covers over 7 wks. Beauty regime system: this rotas over 4 weeks. Manicure (biweekly), Pedicure (once a month), Eyebrow/lashing tint, brow wax (once a month). All this is on my google calendar, so when I'm using my paper planner, the mental work has already been done. Xxx

Smart! Would you mind sharing your cleaning schedule? It's something I'm struggling with right now, especially since I live in a big house and thinking of alllll the cleaning is already making me want to ditch it altogether already 😅

I have ADHD, I think this will help me not forget important tasks and projects (yes I will forget an ENITRE project). I just spent 2 hours working on this. I couldn’t do the post-its though. My ADHD wouldn’t allow me. 😂. I did a vertical monthly schedule, bujo style. Left column for AM, right column for PM. I feel accomplished. Now I just need to actually execute everything. 😅

I’d like to hear more about your RADAR meetings with partner. I have a family of 4 and tried to do the family meeting because I felt overwhelmed trying to juggle everyone’s schedule. Everyone ended up hating it - including me (because it was met with so much resistance and I wasn’t “doing it right”) - that we don’t even have them anymore. I’m lucky if we talk a total of 3 hours in a week or 2

In our house (7 roommates), we have a monthly calendar in the middle of the house with 7 columns so that everyone can see significant events (exams, travels, visits) for the others as well as the chores for the week (3 areas that rotate) and a pad with house groceries. We also have a group chat to ask for last-minutes hangouts, or quick infos. And we try to organise a house breakfast/lunch/fika or dinner at least biweekly. It is the moment were we discuss how it's going for everyone and bring up any concerns. We set up the next meal together at the end (and who makes it). :)
@loriallred4727
@loriallred4727 10 месяцев назад
@@chocolat_chaud25 I have a shared calendar on our iphones, chore charts, and accessible grocery lists … the problem is that I’m the only one who looks at it and does what it says (when it comes to chores especially). The systems can be in place, but if everyone doesn’t use them … 🤷🏻‍♀️. We do have several meals together per week, maybe I need to try a bi-weekly “meeting” dinner too. I like that idea.

It stands for review, agree on the agenda, discuss, action points, and reconnect. Since you're dealing with a household, it probably would work really well since it's supposed to incorporate multiple people and their needs and points of discussion!

I know this is an old comment, but if your kids are preteens/teens (sounds like they are) here is my advice as a teacher who works with that age group and frequently gets hit with that attitude lol. Solve the two problems-time management and family connectedness-individually, first, then work on blending them into a meeting. Ask your partner and kids what they would like to do as a regular family activity and then do it. It could be movie watching, going to the park, cooking, whatever. Then create a Google calendar or a wall calendar and have everyone put their priorities on it on their own time. Eventually you can blend conversations and planning, but starting there is going to drive kids crazy

Something others may want to add to this, particularly if you have a house which has more stuff in it that needs taking care of, is to expand even further into seasonal planning of infrequent chores. I have landed on a 2monthly schedule for certain tasks, some which occur annually or biannually (like washing our winter blankets or cleaning the aircon filters) and some which are just on a weird schedule like 6-8 weeks (cleaning and descaling washing machine, sharpening knives) Running a household and not forgetting important maintenance is HARD (especially on top of full time work and having kids, no wonder I watch planning videos for fun 😂) and this schedule has helped me for years, highly recommend. Each month I check it, and have a 'monthly' to do list, and I'll get each thing done gradually over the 4-5 weekends each month.

I have the opposite problem of most in my life right now (I am off work over the summer). I don't have much I HAVE to do in the month, but I think this will be useful for me to make myself schedule the projects and house renos I want to do. I think when I try to schedule that stuff on a weekly basis I get overwhelmed by choice. Maybe thinking in two week or monthly blocks will help! Thanks for this.

I love this. I work a flexible job where the hours change throughout the year. On top of that I have significant volunteer responsibilities and eldercare. One moth has always felt too long and a week too short and inflexible because everything moves around so much and I am only in the office some weeks. I am going to try this and line it up with my work pay-periods so I can feel that over the course of those two weeks I have worked what I need to without worrying about hitting exactly 20 hours in every given week since, with few exceptions, work doesn't need care and it helps me to stay on track..

Btw, I remember there was a video from earlier in the year where you'd talked about planning your functionality first, THEN decorating. Oh to change the sheets as a reminder just add an alarm in your phone. Mine is every Sunday … Chang Sheets. So you eliminate those simple chores from your card system. Just keep it simple. I also use Google Calendar to post appointments. You have the same view as your planner and really view it very quickly.. You can duplicate the events very easy making the time you spend writing ,posting and editing shorter. I try to complement the card system with the electronic calendar. Use the cell phone alarm like an alert to go grab your supplements -- don’t skip those.

I love how you use “enshrined” when setting aside time. It’s such a small thing but that word brings an added weight and value to those buckets. Like, I know laundry has to get done, but “enshrining” time for it puts extra value on it even though it’s not super glamorous. It makes me feel better about the time I take there, because it really is important in the long run and will set me up for success for other stuff, so it’s worth the time and energy. In a similar way, what tasks am I tempted to enshrine that aren’t actually that valuable to me or worth putting on that pedestal? Can I take them out or move them to monthly/quarterly tasks instead? Anyway. Just a little thing I noticed as I’ve been binge-ing your content this week. Love what you bring to the table and keep it up! 😊

my experience: if everything is grouped in 4 groups (1. chores & maintenance & the admin of life, 2. selfcare & sports & relaxing, 3 people & freetime activities and 4. project, sidehustle, growth, education) >> per week it is possible to do 2 and a half of the 4 (62,5% of all 4). Each week i prioritize which of the 4 groups gets resources, i cant do 100% of all 4 categories each week, only about 62,5% or 2 and a half, e.g. half chores, half relax, half people and 1 and a half projects. important: half selfcare is usually not negotiable (the body demands breaks), so who allocates two halfs to dilligently do all chores and two halfs people every week, reaches the limit of 2 and a half and will never get around to do category 4 (projects, sidehustle, growth, education). that's why i look at the (few!) events already scheduled for the week, (i dont do fix weekly appointments!) and the things that need attention that week (eg car repair), and prioritize which categories get resources in one week and which ones have to be reduced until another week. with this rough compass I can be flexible during the week and make sure that all categories get their fair share of resources over the course of a couple of weeks. i get a lot of projects done this way. hope i explained it clearly enough, any questions ask. important: my example is without kids.

I love the separation of things that need to be done and time expected. I was wondering if you could schedule a couple of things at a time. For example doing a load of washing while preparing a meal. You know how long a load takes. Maybe plan it for after the gym or when you are writing in your journal. Basically, I’m thinking that if you put a load on and do something else important to you, it will be a habit. Folding and or putting the washing away will feel less of a chore because at best it’s only 10 minutes of work. Is a house cleaner worth paying for to come in once a fortnight? 4 hours housework seems excessive shared between the two of you. He’d have to do it if he lived alone. Keep up the great work.

I really love this idea and I love how much of your personal plan you shared and showed off to all of us. What's an "everything shower"? I don't know yet how to translate this kind of planning into my own life but I do think this food for thought will help me, it's planted a seed that will grow... I've already been trying to tell myself certain things might be only once per every 3 weeks and that's okay and doing some kind of 3 week routine, within a 12 week year system (based on that 12 Week Year book sorta kinda, but majorly adjusted for ADHD and the complexities of self-employment etc etc).
@RachelleinTheory
@RachelleinTheory 10 месяцев назад
Thats the point, to just give yourself permission to have some breathing room! Lol an everything shower is essentially a shower where you wash your hair, shave, exfoliate, do a skin treatment, a hair treatment, etc... all those things that you don't have time to do when you're just trying to shower in 5 minutes and get ready for the day! I love the 12 week year, also! It's cool that you are customizing it for your own needs!

The best segway I found with Time management is as mentioned in another Blog you did is Time what you do (or not do) find the dead space and the places where you actually fall down, for some this migh be sheduling a space for Gymn but also looking for a Gymn that not on the other side of town that take 45 minutes to drive to and has poor parking. I changed to a gymn that a bit more expensive, but I can walk to from my apartment, and is 24/7. I also removed all my social media from my phone and that included you tube and instagram. (I still have it on my desktop) I use my iPad specifically for clients and workshops, but I also have several hand written books and the like to brainstorm with post in tones on whiteboards with clients for direction and future focusing and the 3 year plan thing we do. I stopped some of my work and study at home, I walk to my gym then have client meet ups and study in the cafe in my area. Because its central and I can do a few things at once and I am in the space I don't get side tracked byt not doing things at home (Snacks and procrastinating)

I have made a biweekly planner out of a blank notebook that is one week per page all throughout the book, mostly because I like looking ahead without getting overwhelmed. First time I'm doing that this year so I'm curious to see how it will work!

Do you know of any existing planners with a biweekly layout? I haven’t come across any but love the idea!

The other day I was thinking maybe I should do theme days and not have to plan specific tasks for each day. So I wrote out the themes and whoops it was more than 7 😬 so kinda feel I have to spread them over two weeks.

The biweekly and your sprint cut up is definitely migrating into my planning slowly. Have you ever tried that book flip flat open on your common planner?

For this layout, I felt confusing. Would it better if you put all biweekly include social media plan in list with color tags and put the color tags in monthly Hobo ? The rest is for monthly chores (utilities etc). So you can get a quick glance everything in monthly layout.

What about todo task? Also it appears that you have 2 items a week. What do you do if you have 5 items a day?
@jenn541
@jenn541 10 месяцев назад
Yeah, I've tried this many times before in many ways. Every one of my weeks gets blown up within the first two days so now I just walk into every week of life and wait for the F*ckening to occur. Cause it's gonna. But glad it works for others
@katieegan5178

Same! What helped for me was recurring DAILY reminders of important stuff, so I can chip away at it bit by bit over time without having to wait for a whole morning or day free to do allll the cleaning or admin or bills or whatever. It’s amazing now. If I’m doing 5 minutes or so on average most days, I find myself living a much more peaceful lifestyle, despite the “explosions” that invariably pop up. Remember YOU are important enough to prioritize, and give yourself the gift of being willing to experiment until you find what works for you. You’re worth the effort!!

I really should have explained this in the video 😂 It's a shower is essentially a shower where you wash your hair, shave, exfoliate, do a skin treatment, a hair treatment, etc... all those things that you don't have time to do when you're just trying to shower in 5 minutes and get ready for the day!

That seems like a bit of a rude way to phrase it. She's spelling out a lot of useful stuff in the first 14 min about how it works for her life and comparing to how granular week by will planning often is and how it didn't work for her.
