This guy is one of the most sincerest creator in this space and dare I say the YT creator community at large. His content is insightful, motivating, and educational. Exemplary work.
Thanks for being honest about the job application process. You are probably one of the few data scientist/analyst channels out there who actually GOES DEEP into the nitty-gritty stuff 🥺
Hi Shashank! I just started watching your videos and am so inspired. I have been studying and practicing SQL, python, Power BI at work and outside of work as a financial analyst and can't let go of my dream to get a tech job working as a data analyst/scientist. Your videos inspire and educate us all! Thank you for this top value content!
Thank you so much. I am planning to start a freelance data analytics gig on the side as a way of building up my portfolio and hopefully making some good extra money.
I don't know how to thank you enough for everything you did on this channel, learned so many things not just in terms of Technical but also the everyday life of a person in US 😇🙏
Dude, I feel like I need to pay you to listen to this content. I'm so grateful your telling these tips for free. Hope you gain more success in business and freelance journey.
I don't comment usually. But I need to say this guy has provided valued content no bs, straight to the topic with some extra info and tips. Also the Projectpro suggestion is what I was looking. Thankyou for this video.
This video is awesome, thank you so much! I know Excel, SQL and Power Bi. Currently learning Python so happy to start to put it to use and learn faster (hopefully earn too)🎉
I just got hired as a trainee data analyst and was looking for information on where I could go moving forwards but everyone else just felt “I’m selling you a course” type vibes. You however were very honest and helpful. Hopefully when I’m more skilled I’ll be able to capitalise on this. Thanks for the video.
Just starting Data Science with SQL and Python Coming from QA in pharmaceutical industry and found your video, just pure knowledge and info. Keep it up!
great stuff man! been following you for few months and really appreciate your content. keep up the great work man! cheers from the other side of the world
What would be nice is one of you guys that promote data analysis is to actually do a project from start to finish using all the tools that you you recommend every one to learn in your road map, so we could see how everything works with each other and why they are needed. Because when you start to learn each step you don't really know how it all comes together.... I'm sure you would also boost your watch time and follow, like and share basically boosting your channel.
Thanks for your video. I think your thoughts were most accurate about freelancing on Upwork that I’ve come across. I think it’s good for beginners to get some practice. But it’s not as good as focusing on your main job. Also RU-vid seems to be a decently paying place now. Although I think the competition can increase so it might not be as good in the future. I am more Data Scientist but looking to create a fallback position as Data Analyst. Good luck with your multiple jobs and wishing you happy life. Jennifer from Virginia
24:45 this part about dealing with frantic, illogical clients really hit home. This was my former boss to a T. Which is why I quit and am now looking for freelancing work! Thank you for these tips. I have tried to get started on Upwork but until now haven’t gotten any of my proposals responded to. I think I need to work on my data vis skills so I can have prettier examples to show clients that might get me hired.
He’s American, but of South Asian descent. Judging by his name, some of his ancestry is most likely from Tamiļ Naďu( with a small chance from Sri Lanka or Karnataka).
Hey Shashank....Kudos to you for the accomplishment.I am an aspiring data analytics guy.Hope we get connected, help me in building connections .I appreciate your support
you seem pretty transparent about your experiences; so may I ask, how much do data analysts generally get paid? I am wondering if it is worth it to pivot to it from chemical engineering, which is profitable but extremely inflexible.
Awesome video again. I'm a bit confused about the kind of jobs to search for. Should I just type in data analyst or be more specific like sql or Tableau or web scrapping
I really appreciate the information you are sharing here. I haven't been able to find information this detailed and insightful anywhere else. Just a quick question... I am a Statistician working in Public Health with a B.S. in biology and M.S. in comp. sci. My work experience is entirely bioinformatics/computational biology. Due to health reasons I may no longer be able to work full time. Is Upwork a viable option for someone with my skills? I mostly use R (tidyverse, glmnet, and some packages specific to survival analysis), but I have experience from grad school with Python (Pandas, NumPy, SKLearn) Jupyter Lab, and Tensor Flow. I'm leaving out some stuff for brevity, but hopefully you get the idea.
I am prepping for med school and was wondering from a logistical view, if this is something I can do part time on Upwork? -New fan, binge watching your videos.
bro, honestly, I've been wanting to do data analysis for so long but it's been like 7 months and I'm unsuccessful. my previous job laid off most of the support staff and I got him. and in Jamaica, its very difficult getting a job in these types of roles because there are so few it's a small country, what they ask for is way more than is typical and you're at a disadvantage without a degree. so I've been considering upwork but man I'm terrified of starting. I'm good at my jobs, I have my awards as proof but I have bad anxiety and it really holds me back but I'm kinda in a desperate situation. I need advise or guidance.
Hey Shashank. Thank you for the great value you're providing. Quick question about the ProjectPro stuff: are you trying to say that if we find a good job we want to be sending a proposal to, then we can just download a similar project on upwork, understand how things work in there, and then attach some sort of revisited version of it to our proposal ? Also, I see it's quite expensive. Do you think it's worth spending the money on it if it's just for that matter ? Thanks!
A little late to this video, and channel for that manner. I'm curious how you find most comfortable to manage less-than-stellar clients, like the contract provider that left the lower review on your UpWork profile. Any good tips on handling an angry customer, overly picky customer, etc. gracefully? Also maybe how to handle offloading gracefully if the contract is seeing a lot of creep, and there seems to be no good resolution that avoids a negative review because the contract provider expects it be acceptable to keep shifting the goalposts. Love the channel!
Thanks Shank for the amazing video. One quick question for you (or for anyone else who already did this): do you think it's a good idea to import your Linkedin profile into Upwork, or should I create it from scratch?
Hey! I’m not sure if you respond to questions on older videos, but I wanted to know how does a freelancer access a clients server if they are requesting you to pull data from their database? Thank you in advance. Was a great video btw.
I Work on Upwork with different niche. Now learning data analysis, ( excel, SQL, ), I want to do data analyst job in UK. Before starting physical job, practicing in Upwork can be good option i hope.
I've considered adding a Data Analyst Google Cert program. Is this really sufficient for getting beginning Data Analyst work? I have a Physics and Business background but no programming experience. My interest is specifically free lance from Home office, not a 9-5 in corporate office. Thanks
Just found your channel, amazing content. Do you think we can strive as a freelance Data Analyst/Scientist without completely working for a corporate. I am 35 and learning Data Analysis. I want to completely become a freelance. What are your thoughts.
Hi, thank you for your great content! I was wondering if you recommend going into freelancing without having a data analyst job experience? I have experience with projects but no job related experience. I'll appreciate your input, thanks!! -Brian
Grazie. Stavo cercando un aiuto per orientarmi inizialmente e ti devo ringraziare molto. thank you. i am looking 4 some advice and i really apriciate that you share your experience in a very clear way.
This was an awesome video. Your client dashboard seems like a great start, but do you have recommendations for software that freelancers can use to manage their clients and projects? That way I can have everything that your dashboard has and a bunch of other project details all in one place. Maybe something cloud-based.
Thank you for this, Shashank. Was there a time where you took up a project on upwork and realised that you could not finish it or meet the expectations of the client?
Bro is it possible to work as a data analyst remotely from another company overseas ??? Like can I work for a US-based company from Bangladesh remotely as a data analyst and get paid???
Shashank can I get your opinion on my career dilemma? I want to resign from my current government job and transition to a data analyst. My job doesn’t really put me in a position to grow or move up and I want out. I recently completed googles data analytics certificate, created some projects in kaggle using R, trying to become proficient in sql, and either tableau/power bi. I have about 50k in savings but I don’t have a job lined up and that’s my fear. Any tips or advice you can give me?
Thank you the relentless effort. Please how do I resolve getting the Google encryption key as opposed to the customer managed encryption key in BigQuery. I need it to create a dataset
Hi @shashank , I am a data analyst working and also want to start side hustle with freelancing. I have tried but was not able to get any work, can you give me suggestion how to get work
