Liked that you mentioned modifying to fit other vehicles. I do not run a wedge but being able to load a side by side or even a golf cart has helped me when a load falls through last minute.

As always spot on with out the Added clickbait BS. I run a 3 car flat deck - 14- 3 point straps - 6 ratchet straps cut to 10 feet - 4 chains, 2 binders - 3ton come along (I don’t run a winch right now) to move a car on the trailer - 1 set of poly skates (in case I have a car missing a wheel I can move it without destroying my mesh) - 2x6 cribbing - jump pack - lockout kit

I've watched several of your videos and just want to say thanks, first of all. Cars sound like the way to go. We live between Tulsa and Joplin so there's a bunch of auctions within a 300 mile radius. How do you get into your first hauls? Who do you contact? Is this a load board issue? If you have a video that answers all that, just let me know. I have tons of questions. I had a company hauling a car to Florida from California for me. The hauler sent out a flat bed to transport the car to LA where they have a terminal. The flatbed guy loaded it and pulled out 4 J hooks, I told him if that’s all he had then go ahead and remove my car from his truck. Well, that’s all he had and my car spent the night in my garage until they could send out what I call the right equipment

I am looking to haul cars, etc., and plan to get class A training, DOT, authority, etc. I have my investor set up for my truck and hauler etc. Any insight on good (inexpensive) driving schools, truck recommendations, hauler, etc. would be great. I’ve been seeing hotshots in general on the side of the road a lot. I know this month they’ll be really looking for that new red ifta sticker but for the most part it’s just simple inspections.

Hey brother. I got ram 3500 dually and a trailer for 3 vehicles. And I registered my vehicle for 3400 pounds and I got CDL. Every time when I get cars on my trailer combinations weights are about 30000 pounds,but I registered for 34000. So got scale police weight my vehicle?I mean by axle or just combination weight?can you help me please

The place I bought it from is no longer in business but the price was $13,500. Any PJ dealership should be priced about the same for the setup I have. 👍

Hello good video..when changing from freight to hauling cars did you update your authority to reflect that change? if so what was the process if you can tell me..

Most of it is honestly done through your insurance. You’ll file a mcs150 to update the change and list motor vehicles as a commodity but that’s about it. It’s pretty easy.

awesome info man I'm hitting the road tomorrow January first to go pick up my trailer! leasing on with a good friends company. quit my job doing hvac last week sold my 2012 ram 3500 single wheel that was all jacked up and modified and went and got a 2020 ram 3500 cab and chassis. excited to get some loads been wanting to do this sense high school but things are just now falling into place. do you sell stickers id love to rock one on my rig a give ya little support for all the helpful info! hopefully someday ill run into ya on the road!

Words of Advise for Car hauling. Fords trucks are a bad choice. Lots of reasons. No matter Dodge with Asin transmission is a Must. 410 gears are a Must and Very Important change you rear-end cover and install Aluminum Cover with Temp Sensor! Use it! Lastly install Transmission Bypass cooler on Dodge Truck. This is Faiure item that will cost you a Transmission. Always load light weight on Top of Trailer 1st position and Load Heavy on the Trailer tail to cantilever the weight of the front of the Trailer. Been There Done That 5500 Ram is the best option for 3 and 5 car haulers

Quick question was thinking about getting a 2 car Kaufman gooseneck or fifth wheel 3 cars wedge similar to yours...... but I’ve been doing research and have heard the gooseneck is easier to maneuver for beginners..... what’s your opinion🤔

I’ve run both. The gooseneck is more maneuverable- in my opinion. However I did like the 2 car bumper pull- less haste by the dot

The 2 car will be easier to maneuver because it shorter. The wheel base is what makes the 50’ and 53’ wedges a pain to drag around.

Another great video Mizer! Quick question, if you worked in a dying oil field, but had a CDL with over the road experience, and your budget was very limited, and the only thing you had that was paid for in the way of hotshot-ish equipment was a 2008 Chevrolet Duramax diesel 3/4 ton (b&w flip ball in the bed) and a PJ bumper pull 26ft deckover tilt trailer with a 24-ft tilt bed and a 4-ft fixed section up front, or the other trailer, a 24,000 GVWR dual tandem gooseneck trailer 24 ft bed with dovetail ramps, would you even consider trying with this truck or either trailer, to begin hotshotting with that kind of equipment just to get started or you think it's a real longshot? I appreciate your input!

I think it’ll be a very hard way to make money unless you have freight lined up steadily and consistently. I’ve had to bite the bullet and jump into a semi a few times when local jobs didn’t pan out. That CDL is the best investment you’ve ever made. Falling back in it is a step forward in most cases. It gives you the ability to readjust and prepare. I wouldn’t come into this industry with less equipment than I felt necessary. That’s just me though. 👍

Ya, I agree, having the CDL is a blessing, back at the beginning of Co-vid, i went to hauling 110 foot long utility poles for a local guy that unfortunately didn't always end up paying his driver's (3 of us) what we had coming, so i eventually quit him but that gig did help when the oilfield was letting me down. Hi I been trucking dry van for about 8 months I would like to start with pick up truck to haul 5 cars trailer what pick up do you recommend me or you better subject a truck with a 7 cars trailer im short of 💰

I wouldn’t recommend starting off with a trailer that big. I’d work my way up. A 5 car is going to be the most you can safely haul with a pickup truck and it’s going to hav to be a 5500 or F550 just due to the weight of the trailer and 5 cars. You’d have to be selective in what you haul also. Very rarely will you ever haul 5 cars. There will almost always be SUVs and trucks mixed in there as well plus the bigger multilevel trailers weigh a LOT more than a standard wedge.

Would a 40’ flatbed be better so you can haul other freight? I’m just trying to decide which to get in case car freight slows down. I’m hauling campers right now but tired of the empty miles. Thx!

That all just depends on what you’re wanting to do. If you want to mix freight and cars you can most definitely use a 40’ but if you strictly want to haul cars you’re going to want to be able to haul 3 or more at a time which a 40’ just can’t do. Yeah you could haul 3 super small cars on one but the odds of that happening are very very rare. You can’t fit a car a truck and an suv at the same time on a 40’. Really depends on cars or freight. Cars are easy to get some insight on. Literally just walk up to any dealership with a business card and ask them about dealer to dealer trade and auction opportunities. Freight is a lot more difficult. If you’re not comfortable with the boards, a solid dispatch service with a notebook full of direct shippers and first call brokers is an ace up your sleeve.

It depends on what their percentage is for you to lease and what it all covers. If you have to pay your own insurance it may initially look cheaper than your own policy but you have to factor in how much you’re giving up in a lease agreement as far as revenue goes. It may be cheaper overall to run on your own but if you’re new to the game you might not make as much money because you don’t have the experience dialed in right away. Leasing on is a great way to start out. Just keep track of numbers and learn everyday, mostly the back office stuff. Ask tons of questions. There’s a lot of responsibility that goes into running your own numbers that don’t involve driving or booking loads.

I generally stay pretty regional. I run some local runs a lot but I’d say I run about a 5-600 mile radius at most and do as well as I need to do. If I were to expand drivers though I’d most likely reach out further than that but as a solo operation I’ve found my niche around where I live 👍

I use the elite pass from Ipass/prepass. It’s transponder covers all of those. Pretty sure the only till it hasn’t covered that I run into is the 470 around Denver.
