new follower here brother. I just stared my company and getting into non cdl hotshotting. Aseltine Transport LLC is here on your channel now learning what i can from you.
Agree on all points. I’ll say another very good perk to the cars is the fact that you’re not restricted by “shipping/recieving dock hours”. I really like this video! Thanks!
Thanks for the heads up..been a chef for 20 years and starting to transport in March..time to get paid for my time instead of getting peanuts with a salary
Man I been trying to get in the business! Everybody told me that the car business get slow! I’m out of Chicago I got CDL I been driving 9 years I’m moving to Dallas Tx on the 9! I was looking for a ram4500 I really want to do cars but I’m new at this! Any tips I got my LLC and business! But I didn’t do my dot cause I’m still confused
Damn , 4500 Dodge ,,, you ready to pull.... You need a trailer for sure,,, one thing will need to another... gotta check load boards. Utube the hotshot guy ( marathon) I just watched him... he doing serious stuff an gets his from a load board....
If your local/regional hauling then vehicles are better. If you wanna go get the bag & Earth is your turf then gooseneck flatbed (air-ride preferred) is where it’s at.
Hey man! Awesome points for both sides in the video. All extremely valid points. I’ve been in the hotshot business for a little over a month now. I have years of experience in the industry working with my dad. But this is my first time going out on my own and running. About how long on average would you say does it take to start seeing a profit after everything is all said and done? I feel like I’ve already made a decent amount of money for the month but have absolutely nothing to show for it at the moment.
Thx 🙏🏾 well I would say about a year before you see that bank account growing . Long as your not in the negative keep rollin and find ways to cut down on your dead head miles and any other way to save money .
Great info. this is not an industry where you can be home every night if you want to do 8 to 10k per week. won't happen. you gotta go over the Road. We're leasing flatbed hotshot owner ops onto our authority.
I’m looking into hot shot to control what I do, I’m a tractor trailer 9 car hauler and it’s fun. I’m just tired of not controlling my hours and maybe have a 3 day weekend if I can afford it. I know once you pay off the ram or whatever you driving you can make good money and have off lol. Also I work for a company that’s local but I can’t work during the day like I want also I want to bring my wife with me or dog for the day 😂 have fun driving around you know!!
For the novice you left a lot out of this. If we're on the same lot picking up cars how can you get loaded faster if I'm running a rollback and trailer? If I'm asking that clearly?
Anyone know any hot shot guys in Pennsylvania? I got a car I need transported 240 miles. But I hate these Brokers and these broker companies they all lie they got a truck in your area just so happens how's that possible when they haven't even put your load on a Load Board yet anyway I need a car transported in PA
So how do you get loads and stay busy? Do you have some "go to" load boards or sites? I have a CDL and a 3500 dually. Trying to figure out which trailer to buy and definitely leaning toward car hauling. Thanks!
I saw your other vehicle about GVWR 👍🏿 I appreciate but what if you had a Ram 2500 GVWR 10k and a trailer that is36 38ft GVWR 14k wouldn’t that be a good setup and legal for non-CDL
I think if you carry over 26001 pounds you need cdl. If you equipment with vehincle is close to that weight you can be over the limit once you put 2 cars. That's usual how cdl works as I know it, by weight. But if you truck is 10k and trailer loaded as long add your under 26001. Also note that I think off it. You can't be over 40 ft either with truck and trailer. So all has to be considered.
Gvw is exact weight of vehicle or trailer. Gvwr is possible weight of the vehicle or trailer. NON-CDL requires that the total combination be 26,000 or less. A truck can have a gvwr of 10,000, but only weigh 7,500. The trailer (I believe non-cdls are usually 14,000 gvwr) might weigh 8 or 9,000. So you could haul 9500 lbs (hypathetically). Truck and trailer weights will vary as well as what other personal equipment you carry. From what I have seen, most dually with a 14,000lb (gvwr) trailer are good to go.
I have a question, is your truck 60CA or 84CA? I already order a 5500 crew cab 60CA chassis, and I’m in the process of getting an step deck the SDX216 to be exact, but I’m not sure about the 90 degree turns if I will hitting the cab with the trailer, the step deck corners are cut but anyway I want to ask you since your trailer is similar somehow to the one that I’m planning to buy, thanks.
New to your Channel my set up is a roll back Tow truck with a wheel lift in the back can I get my feet wet with that kind of set up just wondering with just local runs?
To start no one should take an advice from you because you got that toy 5thwheel on that chassis cab pulling a car hauler smh 🤦🏻♂️ get your set up right first before you start giving advice
@@luckyyou774 does matter the cars . Whatever your truck and trailer is rated at that’s what matters . But if you wanna stay under 26k get a 2500 pick up and a two car trailer. But tell them to rate the trailer at 11,500 Kaufman trailers will do it
Love your video but I honestly think you're bias. A forklift is not the only way to get a car onto a flatbed you can have dovetails and drive it on just like you do with a car hauling trailer
Excellent video. Liked and subbed! I'm in the middle of looking for a car hauler trailer - I have a 25+5 with dovetail but the angle is too steep to load cars without damaging front end.
great video thats what im looking for i want to do local car hauling that i will be home every night at a reasonable time im in PA poconos area i want to pull the trigger and do it but im hessitant because i dont have the proper info to get connected any suggestion please im all ears thank you i want to start with a 2 car hauler trailer
I subscribed bro I have a question if you have a 10k 2500 super duty truck and a 11500 trailer that puts me at 21500pounds. That’s non cdl ….but I put two cars that weight 3000 for both that puts me at 27000 do I need cdl?
No , 21,000 is your gvwr your actual weight is probably 13k truck and trailer empty weight with full tank of fuel . So that leaves you with about 8k of payload so you can do two cars 4k lb each . Hope that cleared it up for you . Thanks for subscribing!
What is the insurance difference between flatbed and car ramp trailer....I am trying to start and the moment I tell the insurance that I am goons do some cars on my flatbed the insurance goes double....???
@@boutthattrucklife5805 that be great...and it will be awesome if you can refer some insurance brokers who can help me get the best rate for such situations thanks
My brother love the video and points you made about auto transport vs. Hotshot flatbed. I'm approaching becoming an auto hauler and would love to absorb the game from you. Where are you located? I'm in the Dallas Texas area
@@boutthattrucklife5805 Yessir it’s a dually. Only thing it has a utility bed on it so do you think I could haul off the bumper & everything would be ok?
@@boutthattrucklife5805 Thank you. I want to make sure I get into a old used truck that’s ready to take the pounding how can I get it inspected? Is that even possible?
@@boutthattrucklife5805 yea that’s what I was thinking but to start i wanted a 250 get it under my belt and move up to a 350 I could make food money still with the 250 right
I been thinking about hotshot v car haul for a month. This vid just made my decision a little easier. Right now I have 08 F350 non CDL. I still should be able to rock with 3 cars right??
How can you get into this without experience? I work operate heavy equipment loading car haulers and semi trucks auto haulers And they look like they make money.
I offer a mentoring program for 3500$ it’s a one on one type program. I’ll walk you from start to finishing your first load . With a ride along . Dm me on IG for more info
I flatbed and I'm out 3 weeks at a time. It is hard have a wife and a daughter. Been wanting to change to car hauling. But flatbed I get to see all parts of the country which is cool but I miss and miss out on my family.
I totally understand. But family time is priceless. I would say buy another trailer (car hauler) and have both . That way you can stay home more and still have versatility to do both . Balance is the key 🔑
