I started a mango tree, two avocado trees, and two lemon trees from seeds. I got my babies inside right now and soon as Spring comes they'll be enjoy fresh air outside.
Yes! Thank you! I want to garden so bad, but tend to make noob mistakes along the way (it is always apparent that although I researched a TON, I didn't research ENOUGH). Seeing videos really helps! Thank you. :)
I am so excited for this channel's relaunch. My wife and I just planted some radish seeds yesterday. Wish us luck! One day we would love to have a beautiful garden like yours!
+sunmartian Aww radishes are the best! They are so easy to grow you cannot fail :) and the are great in the summer sliced thin and placed on top of a slice of french bread with butter and salt, served of course with a chilled glass of rose :)
Hi Beth! I love the Channel! WOW! Love it, I'm really bad with gardening, but I love doing it anyways and I'm trying to get better. Thank you for all your great tips and tricks. You're super likable and I love listening to you. Please make more videos. Love, Sarah
Hey Beth, great to see you back in gardening videos! Can you make a video about the auto irrigation system you set up? Also any tips for auto irrigation for balcony gardens? Thanks
So excited for your new videos! Would love love love to see more videos on the French design of your backyard as it is gorgeous ! Best gardening channel I've ever found.
+Carrie Zavar Aw thanks Claire! :) Yes I'm going to be doing a "garden design" segment soon about this garden as well as before and afters of what this space looked like when we bought this house. It's pretty dramatic! Stay tuned!
Beth I am working so hard on my garden following all your tips, and I just have to ask, where did you find all those beautiful big green metal planters you have your tomato cages in throughout your garden? I am southern CA too and was hoping to be able to get some too! I've admired them ever since I saw your summer garden party video! Thank you for all the amazing videos, you are an inspiration!
Love your videos sooooo much!! They always make me smile, and want to go plant something! Plus I'm so happy you make cooking tutorials. Keep up the good job. :)
One time I forgot to take my water bottle out of my car during the spring season and chia seeds were starting to grow into actual little plants. The longest one was about two inches. Lol
beth u r such a big inspiration both in ur cooking as well as gardening channels i want to plant herbs but in pots u know individual ones which can be used in cooking so can u suggest a few of them it would be a great help have a good day beth
Oh sure here are my top 5 herbs to cook with :) 1.) Rosemary 2.) Basil 3.) Parsley 4.) Chives 5.) Fresh Mint ALL can be grown easily in pots! Hope you enjoy! :)
Hi Beth, great video with so much great information. I'm having a big problem with peppers. Can you please give a few tips just for peppers? Thank you so much.
Hehehe... i buy from rare seeds too. Lol. My lilac peppers have had a horrible germination rate, tho. Everything else seems to be doing pretty well. I just hope I can keep them going until this stinking snow quits coming!!!
I love your videos :-D. did you know that, if you cover the seeds with a towel or something so they are dark they will focus on growing roots first. so mo sunlight equals more/stronger roots. just take the towel away after 2 or 3 days :)
+Erik Wahlin Oh sure Peppers are coming up in my container gardening segment (in 2 weeks) and melons I just planted so that will be fun around August to include. Growing them "up" this year on a trellis see if that works as well as my husband says it will . We shall see! :)
Thank you for your video :) I have been having trouble growing green leaf veggies like romaine lettuce. Could you make a video to teach us how to do that from seeds please? That will really help me. Thank you :)
Thank you so much for the helpful info. My mini greenhouse seed starter, looks much like yours, has two ventilation tabs. But i had no instructions with it. Should I err more on the side of keeping it closed up, less air/oxygen and ‘hot” ... or keep more air flowing? I’m talking more about the first couple of weeks, when they’re just getting started and just sprouting... thanks!
Hi Beth! ☺ I need your expertise for a question I have. Soooo my mom has mint growing and the leaves 🍃 have a lot of holes in them. I don't see bugs and the plant is not in a container. I was researching and I found other stuff that didn't really help me, because it was towards specific bugs. You kept coming to mind and I thought you might know. Any suggestions? As far as maybe a spray? Like the neem oil you suggested for the lemon tree... thanks Beth! Xo
+Lubna Awan Oh well stay tuned because the next video is all about Balcony gardening! Veggies and fruits that do well in pots :) Next weekend it will be up! :)
my plants just died when we had that week of too 90° weather here in LA 😭 I started by using my own seeds so this inspires me to try it again. I have a small balcony to work with so hopefully you have some videos on balcony gardening. not too much space here in k-town lol
+Karla Lopez Aww yes I have a video perfect for you next week, all on balcony gardening and things that will grow well in this type of situation :) Keep planting and growing! Beth
Hello Beth, I have a question. How did you manage to keep your lemon trees small? It's a special variety you new to purchase from a nursery or you just prune them regularly?
+Carolina De La Ossa Great question! Yes they are "Dwarf" Meyer Lemon Trees. Best variety for large planters since they won't get too big :) And yes regular pruning is necessary too! :)
Treat them like your babies and your plants will thrive! Beth, how do you prevent cucurbitacaea from getting powdery mildew and from an infestation of those icky little white flying menaces that stick to the underside of cucurbitacaea leaves? It seems every time I use a product to address a problem (even a natural product) I then create two other problems that if I address create four new problems _ad infinitum_ . So are there things I can do from the start that will prevent infestations et al? Thanks, Beth!
+Eliana Lee Really oh sure well essentially with these tips (never water at night, invites the pests) release ladybugs for Aphids, they will eat them up!, spray Neem Oil for other pests, Sluggo for Slugs amzn.to/1TbjDnd and if all else fails I reach for Captain Jack: amzn.to/1ZPfi7G all of these are natural solutions for organic gardening :) and seem to always do the trick!
+SCC Well it depends where you live and how long your gardening season is? We can go all the way to Oct here in California. But if you live in a colder climate it might be a little late. But you can start as early as Feb/Mar next year! :)
+In Beth's Garden thanks so much for responding! I love your videos! I live in Maryland which is probably colder, so I might have to wait for next year.
+Bobby buck Oh no! OK not sure what has caused that but if it were me I'd discard the plant and start again. It can really be hard to bring plants "back from the dead" and a plant that has lost ball its leaves does not sound like one ready to produce beautiful tomatoes. :( Better off starting fresh, and if it's in a pot, discard the dirt as well, since you don't know what bacteria might exist in your soil that could transfer over and effect your new plant :(
What happened to your channel? You’re so talented and informative. I found your channel and I’ve been binge watching all your videos, but I just noticed you haven’t posted in two years. Even your Instagram hasn’t been updated💔💔💔💔💔💔
I thought seed starting soil is different from potting mix from because it has LESS nutrients than potting mix. The seeds don't need nutrients right at the start; they need it after they form their first true leaves.
