@@happyandauthentic Super close! The twins are in 7th now and our daughter is in 5th. Crazy how fast life changes isn't it? Family is all doing well here!

@@happyandauthentic Nothing crazy really. Picked up a Masters in Positive Coaching, became a head lacrosse coach, normal family day to day stuff. How about you?

That sounds wonderful! I’m sure you’d make a fantastic coach. ^_^ Not much on my end either. I recently bought my first home and we’re renovating. Once that’s done, we plan to get a dog. We’re very excited about both! The last few years have just involved us working and saving for those two things.

Sounds like you have some spending guilt the same way some people beat themselves up over indulging in food. If you are working more and earning more then your standard of living should improve a bit. If you know you can afford something now like the watch, buy it guilt free. (I get not wanting to upgrade the Ear buds though when you have a good pair) Why rob yourself of the enjoyment by feeling guilty about that piece of cake? I have only ever done a budget loosely, never tracked every detail. How do you handle financially/ emotionally things totally outside of your control, like your cooling bill? That more than doubling had to be a shocker every month.

I most certainly have some guilt regarding how much I spend and what on. It’s likely a combination of being raised to be frugal and creating a name for myself as a minimalist coach. I agree with you when you say it’s okay to allow space for items I have earned and have a use for. The tricky part comes when speaking about items I know I can do without and already have viable stand-ins for. It’s a constant struggle, but one I feel confident I can fight against in a healthy way given my current coping mechanisms. When it comes to 3rd party related things (like the bill being reliant on the weather), I try my best to practise mindfulness and letting go of what is out of my control. I try hard to avoid attaching stories and judgements to those outcomes. But it’s always tricky. :) thanks so much for your kind words

If you see nothing wrong with settling for less, then maybe you don't deserve better.

What if you are CONTENT with less, and it isn't about not deserving better but NOT WANTING better? There will always be something 'better' if you look hard enough, but that's a never-ending race. Content with what you have is a nice place to be.
