Looks like an excellent set up. A wise person once said that 'if you do not learn to enjoy the snow, then you will have a lot less joy in your life, but still the same amount of snow'.
Excited to see this setup in the next video. I unfortunately just invested in a winter tent set up but I think this is something I will try out at some point in the future. Great video!
Wade - great video - I bought the Dutch Winter Sock (I also have the summer) last fall. I found that it was the best dollar value purchase I have bought for cold/winter/minus degree hammocking. I love it and its versatility. The only thing I have to do now is figuring out how to use it and my other accessories with my AMOK LOL.
Good morning Wade..... awesome video as always mate 👍👍. Great set up.... especially during this time of the year. The cook set up was cool. I was looking at something similar a couple of years ago. I will look forward to the review. Stay safe brother... all the best, Mark :)
Good morning Mark, great to hear from you. That's a great cookset. I've been using its baby brother for a while now, it's excellent. Take care in these strange days mate💪
This makes me want to get my hammock out again, think I'll get an under quilt first. Thanks Wade, looking forward to seeing your trip with it, take care mate 👍 🙂
Cool video. I have never used a hammock before. I can't help but feel it would be hard on my back but more and more people are using them so perhaps not. It sure looks like a versatile system! I'll look forward to the next video.
Than you! I find hammocks good for my back. You actually lay flat in one not bent like a banana. If you're happy doing what you're doing, keep on keeping on brother lol! Take care👍
Hey Wade! Great system for winter hammock camping! If one was to check into a hammock resort, if there was such a thing, this would be the penthouse hammock!!😅 Fortunately for me, living in Florida, my system has a little less components. I really like your idea with the poles. Much better that trying to find tie outs on trees. Your reviews and system idea are always top notch. Thanks my friend for what you do!! Be safe out there. 🤠⛺️☕️
That's a fantastic system my friend. It's good to see what you can do with a hammock. I really like the tarp pullout attachments, that's a great option. Cheers Wade 🍻!
Quite a few years ago, I used an REI dividend to purchase a sale priced Hennesy hammock to try for backpacking. I got around to trying it in a cool Wx drizzle, underneath a quality tarp, ... I'd not considered that I sleep on my side, which is only feasable for a contortionist with a hammock. I never managed to get completely into my mummy bag inside tge hammock. It was a truly miserable experience. I gave that hammick to a friend's teenage son. ... ... Wade, with all those incredible hammock accessories, it looks like you've created a packable sarcophagus! Is that kuksa embalming fluid proof? ... LOL ... I really love your incredibly thorough reviews, my friend. You're the best.
Hammocks aren't for everybody that's for sure. If you're a side sleeper there are hammocks that work for that. A comfy cocoon or a creepy sarcophagus take your pick lol😂😂😂 See you on the next one👍
@@Woodswalker1965 Another hammock issue I couldn't sort out, is when sleeping in big bear country and a hungry grizzly comes into your camp, how do you swing your 12 gauge shotgun or .45-70 lever action, while supine in a hammock?
Sleeping on the ground sucks the heat out of you so would there be an advantage to to sleeping in a hammock? Or because it's so high up and exposed would it cool you down as well. Like how water on a bridge freezes faster than the soild road?
That's a great question. When sleeping on the ground you lose heat due to conduction. When you are in a hammock you experience heat loss due to convection or to wind. You need proper insulation for both sleep systems. You can use the same ground pads in a hammock, it works great. Thanks for watching 👍
@@mojosdad68 True, it was very expensive. I don't think it was more expensive than a high quality tent and sleeping bag. This is just where I chose to put my money. Have fun out there buddy👍
@@Woodswalker1965 I'm slowly gathering more and better outdoor equipment. A proper lightweight tent was the 2021 hurdle, but I finally managed to get one last week. Now I need to get out there as you say - but living in southern Ontario - getting to the "out there" is an event in itself. I need to move north!
