How To STOP African Cichlid AGGRESSION!

Here’s ONE THING you can do to STOP African cichlid aggression. If you have cichlid aggression in your African cichlid tank or even your South American cichlid tank, give this technique a try. It may not work in your cichlid aquarium, but sometimes it does. Just make sure you have a quarantine tank up and running for its new inmate. Thanks for watching!

I did this aswell when my red devil started bullying my ob peacock and when I put him back the ob that was being bullied killed him within minutes

Hello, I see that my cichlids tend to be very aggressive especially living stone’s and dolphin when I turn on the light..is it normal? Currently I am never turning the light on but they are getting enough natural light all throughout the day Thanks🙌🏻

While my dolphin is very peaceful, they and livingstoni both have a reputation for aggression. Turning the light on all of the sudden may be startling them and putting them on the offense. The light is only for you, so if you don’t need it, might as well leave it off. If you do like it on, maybe try a light that has a ramp up time that gradually lights up, reducing the possibility of startling them.

Is that a Giraffe cichlid, in with peacocks? do they mix well? Ive got a 210 im still getting fish for and was looking at them but was worried about aggression and the differences in mature size.

I have Zeke the zebra obliquidens in the main tank and he is wonderful. I did a video on just him. He is tough but never a bully. I had a thick skin who was cool. I have a pundamilia nyeri that is mellow. I once had another pundamilia who was a bully though, and a python island hap who was demon possessed. I think it just depends on the fish.

I did this to my Electric Blue Hap when he almost killed my OB Peacock. Two weeks later I put him back in and within 2hrs he was murdered.

That’s so sad. You just never know. I try to do any additions to my tanks early in the day so I can keep watching. That helps me determine what kind of vibe I’m getting. Most times a mean fish can’t be changed.

Hey am I mistaken or do you have a RED, PUNDAMILIA NYEREREI from lake Victoria? I’m almost bought this fish five times I’ve actually had a bagged before and changed my mind. If so, I was curious on how it does in the larger African environment? Because doesn’t it only get 5 1/2 inches or so?

So he is a pundamilia Nyererei, but I used to have a different one that looked a lot more like the photos you see on the web -- more of a brilliant red on top and much more colorful. This guy has always been very peaceful and smaller, like you said. He used to have a thick skin obliquidens that would follow him everywhere, but it was more like a bromance thing, because he never hurt him, but he would give an occasional chase. I mean, that thickskin would look for him all the time. Everyone else leaves him alone. When I added that other pundamilia a year or so ago, he wanted Monte (the one you are referring to) dead! He was very aggressive and tried to be the tank boss. I finally rehomed that other guy with the attitude. I love Monte, though. He's not the most colorful in the tank for sure, but I have a special place in my heart for him.💓

I had African cichlids when i was 21. Along time ago. One of them ATE the other 3! I put it another FULL Grown aggressive fish (orange & black) i forget the name. The Cichlid Also kept attacking and biting him to where i gave him away to a friend. My friend kept that fish with Piranhas and it was fine! My cichlid was more vicious than piranhas!! M Everytime i put in an algae eater he would kill them too! I bought a huge full grown algae eater, he wasnt even completely submerged in the water yet and the cichlid attacked! DEAD!! He was SO MEAN! If u put ur finger up above the water he would literally jump out the water to try and bite you!! Coolest thing was when he got mad his stripes would get Super dark!!

@@CichlidCharmer it will only end if you add a more dominant fish to the tank some tank bosses are bully's and some tank bosses are friendly and Keep every fish calm and when they do fight a good tank boss Will stop them untill they calm down its Just a pick order there Will always be some fish trying to take over the boss his place some succeed some dont some give up some dont and then the weakest Will die its a natural way

Aggresive rank at mine 1. The Lemon 2. Johanni 3. Aulocara Blue 4. Venustus 5. Aulonocara Red 😢 Really hard to put them together. So my aquarium like hungry games now. You're not aggresive or having survival soul you die!😂

This is the same advice literally every other channel says to do. It doesn't work so I don't know why it's suggested. The other option they suggest is getting rid of your fish or changing around your decor. Also doesn't work. What people should do is feed your fish properly. Not once a day. No fasting days. Twice a day everyday using a quality food. I have 17 aquariums around a thousand African Cichlids and zero aggression.

Interesting. I feed good quality food, but only once per day. I will have to try feeding twice per day and see how it goes. I know I am a lot grumpier when hungry!
