Yesterday i managed to take out a sloop with 2 players on board, was doing quests, they just attacked me, i am not that good at the game, but i managed to win, thanks to your tips.

I said on stream when that happened and I will say this again. That was CLEAN.

Awesome video as always! Two Friends and me were sailing last night in a brig, after we sold our loot, a galleon came after us. We decided to have some fun with them. I jumped into the water and set them on fire when they passed by me and blunder bombed them (keeping your recommendations about blunderbombs in mind Phuzzy)They sailed into the red zone while on fire and we thought they were just giving up but they harpooned my friend off our ship and killed them. Then gave chase again. They weren't giving up and we had nothing to lose, so I recommended we sail toward Flameheart. We were logging off anyway but having fun with the galleon so thought it be a good way to go out. The fleet sunk both of us because they followed us right in the middle of the ghost fleet. It was hilarious and a lot of fun. I've told my friends they need to watch your videos Phuzzy, they're new players but getting good, but can learn a lot from you.

Phuzzy, you should feel proud. Everyone I meet on the seas has watched you, and learned how to be a better pirate because of you. You singlehandedly make this game a better place. So kudos to you!

I can confirm that this strategy is amazing. I did it today while playing with my brother and we sank a Brig after ambushing them from the fort towers! Thanks a bunch, phuzzy! You saved our level 5 Athena emissary today

“Not by running, but by sinking them without putting yourself or your ship in danger.” There’s a number of ways to engage a ship tailing you, even if you’re going to avoid them. If anything, your ship is already in danger in either scenario because there’s a fine batch of sweaty players that thirst to sink your sloop/brigantine/galleon.

It's beginning to feel like it did last year, where I just kept getting cornered at the edge of the map, wind only blowing INTO the map... and a Brig pinning me down. I get hit by one cannon ball, and I'm gone. Losing the 300,000 or so gold I need. However, listening to your voice helps calm me down, and encourages me to try again. I thoroughly enjoy your content Phuzzy, so I hope you keep making more helpful and entertaining videos.

good to see that there are good players that actually do tactics, instead of boarding you and spawnkilling you untill you sink

I truly think the game needs to input a 3-5 seconds respawn invulnerability. All you can do upon respawn is move and jump while not receiving damage until the timer runs out and you return to normal. Just enough time to combat respawn killing while not effecting combat that much.

This last weekend I was playing with a random guy who was new to the game. We had JUST finished getting ready to set sail and when I looked up there was a Reaper galleon coming straight for us. My first experience with SoT was IMMEDIATELY getting lanced by a larger more experienced group, so I wanted to spare this new guy from that. I tried talking to them and when they wouldn't listen, I took those bastards on a 10 minute walk into the wind to get ahead of them. Then I weaved between rocks at shipwreck bay until the island started taking shots at them. Turned around on a dime, took out their mast, and started lighting them up. Then a megalodon came out of NOWHERE and scuttled their ship. The laughter coming out of the new guy who was manning our cannons was one of my favorite moments playing this game.

Mad respect for that long distance Chainshot. Always feels good to pull one of those off

OMG! Like 2 hours before this, me and my friends had a level 5 emissary on a brig. Seeing these tactics other places, some from you, we held them off for a while. Sadly eventually we sunk.

Hey Phuzzy! I just wanted to thank you because I sunk a Brigantine that was chasing me as a Solo Slooper yesterday with the help of your tips by using the towers of a fort against them. I pinned them down with two chainshots, made some holes with regular cannonballs and then kept them off repairs with blunderbombs :) If they eventually read this: Thanks for being so good sports about it, guys! Seems like every time I watch one of your videos, I learn something. Luring people to an inactive fort, standing on top of fire before dousing yourself...I've learned so much from your videos. Just yesterday I was riding with my wife and a couple of our newer, very PvP-shy friends, and I used so many of your tricks to launch out to delay/deter pursuers. I jumped onto a brigantine and tucked on the mast to make sure they were following us, and then continuously used hit and run tactics to keep them anchored until they lost us, and I sunk another sloop by blowing them off the ship, ramming them into the rocks, and keeping them distracted til their ship burned and sank. All while my crew continued blissfully on to the next islands to dig up more treasure in their PvE playland. Thanks for all your awesome content. Cheers.

Awesome vid Phuzzy

The other night I was bored so I decided to hop from sea port to sea port and purchase the items they had for sale at discounted rates. I was literally doing the opposite of pirating. I had zero treasure and was spending coin. After the first few ports I was being followed by a 2-man sloop. So I decided to troll and waste as much of their time as I could. After about 30 minutes of them chasing me I sailed my sloop past a sea port. I jumped overboard to the port and let my ship sail away. It crashed in to a small island within my viewing range. I literally sat on the port watching them search high and low on the island trying to find me for another 15-20 minutes. Wasted about 45-50 minutes of the time of server hoppers. Priceless.

Wow, this is the best tutorial video ever!

Once, I actually thought of being nice. Every ship I came across I gave a share of my loot, set up an alliance and helped then with any quests. Then there was this one ship. This 4-man Galleon didn't want anything to do with help, didn't accept any alliances or even my loot. The guy just wanted bloodlust. But I was determined to sink these idiots. I gathered nearly the entire server and took them all to the Reaper's Hideout (The ship was a Reaper's Emissary) And stowed more gunpowder barrels than I had ever seen before or since. You can guess what happened next. Let's just say they didn't want to ally after that. We all took to Golden Sands Outpost (on vote) and played music and drank grog the entire night. It was glorious. To the Unsinkable Grog-Swiggers!

I like how Phuzzy actually attempts to fight people. Unlike other people who just run away and assume that your the world's greatest sea of thieves player.

Kudos man, I've seen this video like a week ago and I used the inactive tower strat today against a 3-man Brig. Worked like a charm 😂 I'd never thought of that, it's brilliant

My go to method of getting people to stop chasing me is sailing directly through the center of the storm, most crews heave to when nearing the storm (especially brig crews). Other ways I’ve gotten people to stop chasing me is maneuver around rocks and islands and let them crash a few times and/or play hide and seek with rocks and islands until they get bored, and I’ve also gotten people off my tail by sticking them on someone else (sail past a sloop that is either docked or moving slower and they will go after the “easier prey” instead).

Since Gunpowder Barrels are randomly swimming in between supply barrels, I almost never lose. Let your ship drive, take a keg, blow them up. The Fort strategy is awesome too!

Another good tip for solo sloopers is knowing certain island layouts well, and using them to your advantage. Thieve's Haven is a good example because the cove section of the island has three interlinking entrances, that you can use to either quickly lose or confuse your pursuers. Or if you're feeling brave enough, what I did one time was to make a Galleon crew think I was gonna cruise through the island and escape out the other side, but instead I pulled a 180 anchor turn in the centre of the island, raised the sails quickly and unanchored. With three options to escape, and knowing the Galleon wouldn't risk trying to come through the island at full speed I just waited for them to sail past and around the island, which they did to the exit on my left side. I hit them with a quick barrage, they became confused when they realised where I was, and accidentally swerved the ship into the island, mooring themselves within sight. I decided to hit them with another barrage while they scrambled around, and then I dropped the sails and flew out the exit I came in going the opposite direction. There was no need to stick around, they were sinking by this point and I was on a mission anyway. If you practice enough, you can navigate your sloop through that island at full speed effortlessly.

To be honest I thought this guy was going ti be all like "all you have to do to get away or kill your opponets solo is not let them catch up to you" or something dumb like that, but this was actually an amazing guide and earned my sub hope you get to 80K soon man

Duuuuude those chainshots are SOOOO good

Was solo slooping the other day. Loaded into a server, went south toward the outpost I needed to start a tall tale. No cosmetics, no loot, no emissary, not even supplies on board outside of the starting ship supplies. Found a sloop tailing me. No reaper's mark, no reaper emissary, but they start shooting cannons at me, missing when I take evasive maneuvers, harpoon turning, etc. They are not good, and I am pretty decent at sailing. I drop off the back and board them a few times, lighting their ship on fire, blunderbombing them off their sloop a few times, and killing them a couple of times before dying myself, it being one pirate versus two. They may not be good, but are at least good enough to not sink while defending against my mediocre hand to hand combat skills. They do not give up. Alright, I say, I'm just wasting my time, so come aboard, take my eight bananas. Realize how you were just wasting your time this last hour. They proceed to kill me and spawn camp me. Not taking supplies. Not sinking my ship. Just killing me repeatedly for no reward. I take my time on the ferry of the damned before coming back a few times, and scuttle after realizing they weren't going to leave my ship, and weren't doing anything else. And then they find me again after I take a different path to the outpost. Proceed to do the same thing. I know it's technically possible to take them out with a solo sloop, but at least for me personally, I cannot wreck a crew that outnumbers me and knows at least a little bit about what they are doing. I can frustrate them to no end, but I can't sail for hours straight without making a single mistake that will let them catch up. So sorry, Phuzzy, but you are wrong. It does not take just getting knocked off the ship once. All it takes is a crew hellbent on making your life miserable. If just one crew decides that they want to be jerks, eventually they'll take you out, or at least make your life miserable until you hop servers.

I wish me and my dad had watched your video before getting on yesterday. We're relatively inexperienced in the game and had a toxic chaser on our a$$e$ for the majority of our session yesterday. After we sunk, they immediately found us again at the island we respawned at and chased us again while we were still stocking up. We couldn't shake them and they kept following us, making sure we never accomplished anything at all the whole time we were on so we just sailed off the map and called it a day.

I usually start going AGAINST the wind, that usually annoys people lol Edit: do this on a sloop only lol!

I got ambushed in the Devil's Roar while merchanting, enemy sloop caught up to my sloop even though I thought I had managed sails well, and from there it was death by infinite firebombs. Came to this video for some tips. Will try them for next time!

The only friend I have, that has this game, NEVER wants to play, so I can only ever solosloop or hang out with a stranger *shudder*. But I've always been terrified of doing so, knowledge of this technique has eased my fears immensely, thankyou for making it.

Using cannon towers is how I've won quite a lot of my fights, especially against larger ships. As a Sloop I sunk a Brig earlier today using just this strategy. Sailed past Reaper's Hideout, jumping off as I went by. Brig followed my ship, giving me the perfect opportunity to do exactly what you see in this video: chain shot the masts down then barrage of cannon balls. When you run out of shots, board them so they can't repair. My only suggestion is after you take out their masts, follow up with a blunder bomb or two from the cannon so their ship rocks around and they find it difficult to shoot back.
