How to STOP fast skillful attackers

I'm shorter than most of the people, and in the Sunday League, there were a LOT of big guys when I started to play. They beated the 14 year old skinny, short kid in the ground every time. I needed a few years to realise what the advantages of being short. Once I learned the right way and timing of lowering my center of mass, I became an obstacle that you bounce off of, if you charge me with full speed. I can count on my hands how many times I have been tackled by a bodycheck or a diving, in the last 5 years.

It's all fun and games until the attacker megs you.

I play ball hockey, but I'm going to have to try to adapt this advice in my game, especially about not diving in when it's a fast attacker, because this is exactly what I was struggling with when dealing with a pair of fast attackers today! Good video!

On big attackers: I will fake giving them a prolonged bodycheck (give em a bit, and wait a beat), and when they lean in---poof! I ain't there and they're off balance and easy pickings. It's like football judo, once you feel that resistance, you gotta slip out and let them wobble about a bit. Which is why footwork is super important to be mindful of in all practice, because that's the most basic part of the setup.

As a fast unskilful attacker, I agree. I love when they dive in. I love when they get too tight as well, just play a bounce pass and accelerate into the space...

I'm a defender at soccer and I hate it when a enemy team has fast skillful players I have a hard time trying not to dive in but my Dad told me not to dive in and just move around at a angle to slow him down then we he is about to kick I block the kick this video helps me out a lot.

I need a little help with a little issue. When I’m defending my opponent moves the ball so quick back and forth (indoor turf), that sometimes I accidentally tap the opponents leg when trying to take the ball from them. For me I would just keep playing unless I know the contact is intentional. What can I do to avoid this?

I’ve been watching basketball more recently and have started to wonder if body blocking is legal in soccer like it is in the NBA? The rules that I can find is that if you’re not close enough to play the ball then obviously it’s a foul but surely there could be a way to make it look like you’re trying to play the ball so your teammate can take it around and you either block them or make them commit a foul. If anyone can think of any instances like this let me know because it’s very interesting to me.
