Well. Thanks for the excellent vid. Hope I remember theses three mistakes when I'm over the shot. I am the world's best toe hitter (which is not a good thing). I am absolutely guilty of the first two. Rising up thru the shot and coming off and swinging left too early. I'm heartened to know that I actually may not be guilty of the third mistake - dropping the trail shoulder hip hip hooray !!!
Great video! Been hitting off the toe for about 3 years. Video tape myself often and was guilty of all three of these mistakes. Looking forward to trying the drills.
Hi Jon, I used this to help cure my shanks.l noticed in vids i took that i dipped my right knee down & toward the ball prior to impact which lowers my chest and moves my hands towards the ball..now i stay tall and keep my arms in close like a toe striker...cheers
The reason i always use to hit off the toe is because im afraid of the Shank, now my confidence is building and im strikingly em on the sweet spot closer to the hosel and they fly high and pretty, Cleveland TA7 tours.
Definitely guilty of dropping my shoulder too early. I will use the alignment rod. I also tend to "come off" the ball so shots tend to be thin. maybe you can give me some drills to stay down and thru the golf ball. I use one drill where I put my right foot back dramatically so I essentially hit on one leg -it helps. Join subscribed to you so look forward to more helpful tips. Thanks J
I'm loving the 2 stick drills,I've been plagued with the shanks and heel strikes and tried everything, my train of thought now is to practice a little of what you're teaching to stop and see if it brings me back in line, thanks
I have really been struggling with toe strikes. Will be trying alignment stick drill right away to fix either problem 1 or 3! Thanks so much…great explanation!
Good stuff mate. I was number two even though you wouldn't say I have a chicken wing. The foot spray is crucial to understand where you are hitting it. Unless you have an $18,000 launch monitor.
I hit low and off the toe like you are saying…I do this religiously. I know I keep coming out of my posture but I cannot seem to stop doing it. It sucks….and I’m a 5 hcp with my crappy strikes.
WOW!I have been struggling with toe shots for many years, and couldn't find the root cause...now I know!! Thank you so much, Johnathan! You are my golf saver.....
I saw you use the stick under the right arm in a previous video. In it you mention how that drill was the main drill that helped you fix something. What was that video about and what was it called? Thanks
I have watched a ton of RU-vidrs demonstrating the proper swing technique but you are doing an excellent job explaining firstly the issues that plague all levels and ages of golfers and then clearly showing how to fix each issue. I don’t need club reviews and watching professionals hit balls in a way that I can’t execute. 👍👍👍🇨🇦
I think you solved my short games issues. Time will tell; however, I am definitely hitting the wedges crisper. For me the 100 yard in game was always the disappointment. I do think you have something there with your teaching. Outstanding job detailing the issue and the simple fixes. Very impressed.
I thought keeping my arms together could not be it. I practice with a Tour Striker type ball and it does not fall out. I thought why not try and keep pressure in my forearms for the whole swing. Perfect fixed two things for the price of one. I was hitting the ball thin sometimes as well.
You do a great job of identifying the problem and giving a solution. The problems might be small and hard to identify but very important to correct. Thank you!!!
I find I strike the ball more towards the toe but clearly on the grooves and I play to a 4 handicap. I wonder if it's an issue with the specs of my irons. I never got my driver off the toe?
Definitely #3 for me. Watched a video taken yesterday of my swing, and my right shoulder has completely dropped before the club reaches parallel. Back to the drawing board.
The "getting out of posture" was the problem for me. Penny dropped when I saw this video. Ball striking has improved so much. Cheers Johnathon, great advice!
Got to be honest,I didn't expect much when I saw you in a home net. However, over the past 2 weeks I noticed a few toes sneaking in my rounds, then recently could barely hit a clean shot. I play with blades and I am sure you can understand how bad I played that day. Everything was low, short and right. I looked like an 18 handicapper. Can't get in for a lesson with my coach for 3 weeks. I like these options will check later today and I am sure I will catch a bit of a right shoulder issue. Really good bud! 👍
This is a truly superb instructional video. I finally looked carefully at my irons, and all the marks were near the toe. JC showed me very simply what I need to work on to prevent toe shots.
I’m using this drill right now and instead of spending $50 on a tour striker ball, this cheap easy drill improved my connection and fixed my fault in 3 practice swings
Thank you, very helpful tips. I was having major issues with toe strikes and I think these tips have finally helped me diagnose my problems. Range session this morning had me striking the ball much cleaner.
Thanks, I'm going to try these out. I thought my setup was wildly off, but it's not. I was tucking that elbow and letting the shoulder drop too much, too early.
looking at the thumbnail, the strike on the right. are those the groove locations where you should be striking the ball? looks kind of low on the face.
I've been working on getting belly button to target and getting chest to point up in follow thru. This is sometimes causing toe shots (sometimes its so extreme that I nearly have a toe shank where only half the ball hits the toe). It seems the more extension I get, the closer it brings the clubface into the body. Do you have any advice for this issue? This is mainly happening with shorter irons.
Came back to golf after a 9 year hiatus and was hitting it thin and off the toe every third shot or so. Used the method of the alignment stick and boom, fixed. Thanks for the info man!
@@jchowngolf Hello J,to be honest there’s so many people with many different styles, trust me I’ve watched loads, sounds stupid but the way you talk it through and practically show it just works and sinks in so massive thanks to you, your clearly a great teacher in my opinion. I’ve now decided to stop loading my brain with lots of different peoples styles and ways of teaching and stick with you. I still give respect to all the others but your style works for me so game on thanks once again and look forward to to seeing more fantastic tutorials from you buddy 👍🇬🇧
