To put it in perspective how ridiculous 1.56 PPP is, prime Shaq was 1.48 PPP in the paint.

You showed the exact problem Dallas has. Hedge and recover works extremely well against Luka, or to say it better, against the Mavs. Cause Dallas has no other ballhandler and nearly no movement off the ball. Dallas needs a 2nd ballhandler who can take advantage of those situations, as well as double teams against Luka. KP cant do it, THJ cant and DFS/Kleber/Boban are even worse at putting the ball on the court and dribble or pass. The one guy I thought would excell in those situations, Brunson, just wasnt playable with Luka on defense. And he wasnt realy good on offense too. Thats what disappointed me the most. Another huge problem was Boban, not that much on offense, but he just cant move on defense against small ball lineups. Dallas got killed with Boban/KP on the court together The best defense Dallas played against the Clippers was in game 5, with Powell playing a lot of minutes. I realy dont know why Dalls gave Boban 30 Minutes in game 7, but Powell, who is also a lob thread, but way quicker on defense, only 5... that was the huge mistake Carlisle did in my opinion.

This is a good video for what stage Luka is in, in his development. BUT you have to take into account Luka ability to learn and improvise going forward in his growth!!This is the reason he is so unstoppable,he first 3 seasons. The big reason he is unstoppable is because of his "step-back fadeaways". The fadeaway alone is deadly in the court which was popularized by Micheal Jordan then imagine combining it with a step-back that will create more space from yourself to your defender.

Basically you simply don't want Luka to dictate the pace. You always need to have the initiative to double or hedging him, even if it means they have to run around and rotate religiously.

from what i saw in the series, Luka can get exhausted, just grind him for 40+ mins you will be fine. If you can't, you are losing.

If you switch trade Luka for D Mitchell , Spider would average 5-10 ppg more, Luka in Utah would have 5-10 ppg less, with average 12-15 assists, Jazz constantly in finals and Mavs wouldn't reach the playoffs

i know this video is about luka but I cant help but to notice porchingus doing nothing productive when luka has the ball.

Teams already “let” Luka go off for (roughly) 30 points and 10 boards and assists and count on other Mavs to be mediocre to poor. It’s largely working up to now (summer 2021). Plus, Luka often disappears in final quarters, likely because he uses up his energy. BUT, there’s a good chance Luka’s stamina will increase as he moves into his mid 20s, if he takes conditioning seriously, so maybe he’ll have gas in the tank toward the ends of games, AND the Mavs seem serious about getting its Jrue Holiday to play D and take some of the scoring load, not that Jrues grow on trees. And I guess there’s a chance that KP will come back in the fall in his best condition and be the future Hall of Farmer everyone thought he’d be.

I think a guy like KD or Giannis would do pretty well against him

I feel like the only way to stop Luka is just getting him running on Defense. Luka starts hot every game than eventually gets gassed in games like these playoffs, once he gets in better shape its literally over for the league tho

I'd definitely would prefer living with his teammates making shots if it was Slovenia national team. There is not enough talent there to actually make a substantial impact on the game.
