amzn.to/2cHeGmM Click the link to get your ATP AT-205 Leak stop. I can't believe how well this stuff actually works. In this video, I stopped a leaky snowblower auger gear box from leaking oil. Disclaimer:

I used AT-205 Re-Seal on my 1995 Z28 Camaro. When I got it, it was leaking in numerous places. I put in the recommended amount for my engine, and ran it around 300 miles over a couple of days.(That is what I remember was the amount of time before you were to expect good results.) It stopped every leak except the Rear Main Seal (But slowed it down considerably). Years later still no leaks and I only used it the one time, and have done oil and filter changes since then. Did not affect the performance of the engine at all. Great Product in my opinion. The one circumstance where it would make someone seal problem potentially worse, would be if the seal already had a cut, or tear.

Thanks for the tip. I have a golf cart that is leaking at the cam seal which is a huge pain to get to for just a seal (has no other issues) so I'm going to try it. Just used your link to order so I hope it helps you out a little.

Thanks for sharing this video. I didn't want to bother taking the axle apart to replace seals on an old machine. Found your video and decided to try your method. I used the ATP AT-205 on my 27 year old Toro snowblower axle last Fall. I used the math as you suggest in the video to determine how much to use. It is no longer leaking.

Looks like it will work. Transmission is small and this product appears to be as advertised. Machine sounds good after the valve job. Good work buddy.

Thanks, I thought I would give the product a shot. I was doubtful. I figured if it didn't work I would not post the video no harm no foul. I could have used this for several past projects.

I too heard about this stuff through Scotty Kilmer. Had just re-ringed my twin Honda GXV 530 from my Hustler mower to find it leaked through the sump shaft seal. Put about two ounces in the crank case and after the second time I mowed with this stuff in it I noticed it no longer leaked. Boy did that make me happy.
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 7 лет назад
Good to hear. It is such a small amount that you add to the oil that I would think it would not cause damage to your engine. However, now that the oil seal is swollen up and sealed you can simply change your oil if you concerned about the product causing you engine problems down the road.
@RANGUIDRY
@RANGUIDRY 7 лет назад
I think I remember Scotty saying that it's fine to leave it in the oil, and since I just changed the oil and filter after the break in period I'm going to leave it in for a few more hours. Thanks for your video on this; I sent this link to a friend after he acted a bit skeptical when I told him I used this to fix my leak. He's the one that told me about Scotty Kilmer and now that I had your video and that you mentioned Scotty he is more confident of this product.

I had surprising results with the product. My bother in law now has the snowblower, so I can keep an eye on the repair. My friend used it to fix the hydraulics on his John Deere and the leak stopped for him as well.

Diesel mechanic friend of mine; expert in almost all things mechanical after 30 years in the oil field as trouble shooter all over the world identified this stuff as brake fluid. Go figure.

The transmission leaks really bad in my dad's 62' Willy's jeep. The sealer that I'm familiar with only works for automatic transmissions and it's stick shift. Will have to pick up some of this. Thank you so much!! Hope it works.

Ordered a bottle from your link to try in a 1955 International Farmall 230. My Father in Law asked me to check the Hydraulic Fluid that he said has never been checked, but it does visibly leak at some seals. It was low 1.75 gallons. It only holds 2 gallons!!! This should work for another 60 years. ;)

Let us know how it works out for you. My friend has a John Deere with a hydraulic actuator that leaks. He told me that he cannot get the parts and has to replace the whole cylinder. He is going to give the AT-205 a shot.
@BobbyW00

+doublewide6 - Will do. It will be a couple of weeks, time-wise now. He is 86 years old. He called me today and said he blew the front tire backing it out of the barn for the first time since I topped off the fluid. Now I have to find a tire for a 60 year old tractor. :( (It never ends...)

I have used snowmobile grease inside the older gear cases on snowblowers. It doesn't get solid in the cold but thick enough to not leak.
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 7 лет назад
That is a good tip another comment suggested using grease as well. I made a big mistake and took one apart to repair it once and it was a ton of work. I won't be doing that again.

What oil do you put in the gear case?
@jonathanformhals9700
@jonathanformhals9700 3 года назад
I noticed that you did not refill the gear case with gear lube after you added the AT205. I'm guessing that you eventually did fill the case full - and when you did, how the stuff hold up?? Did the leak remained sealed? Thanks!!

did you put rubber paddles on the augers. I never saw a 2 stage with that set up before.
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 7 лет назад
No, The rubber comes on the steel auger and as the auger spin it pulls the snowblower along. There is no transmission in this blower. Eventually the rubber wears out though.

Used to use a product swell up valve stem seals on engines used to stop them smoking on start up. Mainly french engines citreon etc.

After you added the ATP you ran it for 5 minutes or so. Obviously you topped up the gear case with gear oil after you added the ATP?

I was told by an old time mechanic, that an easy fix for leaking auger gear boxes is to drain all the 90 weight gear oil and pack the gear box full of white grease. I did that on my older Ariens and 3 years later, I haven't had a problem.
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 7 лет назад
That is a great solution. Many manufactures already use grease instead of oil. By the way I see a fair amount of snowblowers that leak at the auger box.

Swollen seals mean the rubber has been degraded... I would never use this on anything because it may kill good seals everywhere... You will have to put a new seal in later anyway.
@hugeslacker
@hugeslacker 3 года назад
If you're doing the seals on the gearcase, you're doing all of them. So it doesn't matter if it "ruins a good seal".. if it works, it works. if it doesn't, you're taking the whole unit apart regardless. I wouldn't use it on a car engine obviously, but this is a simple fix.
@curiosity2314
@curiosity2314 7 лет назад
Honestly a quick fix but like any of these solutions as a fix it will eventually most likely cause failure. Just my view better to take it apart and do it right. This is a simple transmission, people are throwing stuff like this into much more complicated transmissions as you know.
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 7 лет назад
I have first hand experience removing and fixing one of these snowblower gearboxes. It is a 3-4 hour job if everything goes as planned. There usually is rust that causes this job to be difficult. I have videos showing the Ariens that I worked on previously. For this type of application, I don't see it becoming a problem because you add so little AT205 leak stop to the oil. This brand product uses way less additive than similar products. You are right taking it apart and rebuilding all the seals is the best solution no doubt, but no one is going to pay $300 on an old snowblower to stop a slow leak especially when the leak is not coming from the engine.
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 7 лет назад
The other option is to put it in for a week than change the oil and not add the additive back in. The seals should remain swollen and sealed.
@curiosity2314
@curiosity2314 7 лет назад
What you have said here makes sense considering the time involved to repair. I value your opinion on the subject, thanks...
@ddlago

i have seen these products like this for many years , they all soften the seals but the seal was anyway and perhaps the may work for a while but it is a temp fix only , it will keep on softening the seal but doesn't know when to stop, eventually your oil leak will be much much worse, perhaps you can get away with this on a snowblower, it is not used daily on a yearly use
