FULL TEXT OF VIDEO:-
"Now this is a short tutorial to show you how to eliminate these 'Pizza Wheel' marks from your prints - can you see, we've got a little pair of indentations up our print here, which is quite annoying - now those little 'Pizza Wheel' marks (we call them) they are little pin-pricks which come from the wheels down in the bottom of our printer, can you see, this is a typical inkjet printer with these little rollers here, now the rollers are spring-loaded and the paper comes through, and in order to support the paper as it comes out of the printer, these (rollers) actually put a little bit of pressure down on to the top of the paper to ensure that the paper can push out the exit of the printer cleanly, and without twisting out of register. We've already marked on the steel mounting plate with felt-tipped pen which is the offending wheel which is causing the problem. The reason that this pair of wheels are causing the mark is either side, it looks like there is a steel axle on one side, and a steel axle on the other side, but in actual fact, that is a spring - so what you need to do is you need to get some MAGIC BULLET PRINTHEAD CLEANER - Now this fluid actually dissolves the dried ink that is built up on either side of the wheel - now that axle is supposed to be flexible like a spring - look where my screwdriver is - on the steel mounting plate, there a little dots - these little dots indicate over-sprayed ink that is sprayed over the top of the plate and guide wheels, and it has got into the side of the wheel, where the spring is. So what we need to do is get a little bit of MAGIC BULLET - Now this syringe and clear tube comes with the kit, and what you do is put just a little bit of MAGIC BULLET fluid (3ml approx) on one side of the wheel, soaking the spring, and another droplet on the other side, again soaking the spring, like so, now what we do, we push a pretty thick piece of cardboard underneath the wheels from the front of the printer - Can you see that as we do this, the wheels rise up quite a bit (let's get closer, so we can see the action) - we're pushing this card in and out, and the actual wheels are going up and down by a good couple of millimetres, and the thickness of the card determines the amount that the wheels raise up, so it needs to be a good thick card (you can make up the thickness by using layers of card to make up the 2 - 3mm thickness required). Now I am going to push this card in and out a number of times, at least 12 times, and then what I am going to do, I am going to withdraw the card, then I's going to put a second application of MAGIC BULLET fluid on either side of the wheel to be absolutely certain that I have soaked and freed up the spring on either side of the wheel. Now I wouldn't bother doing the other springs on wheels that are not giving you any problems - I think that is more important to concentrate on the roller that is causing the problem - I would repeat the operation of inserting the thick card in and out about 12 times again.. - Let's show you the actual thickness of the card that I am using - just about the thickest card I can get (around just over 2mm thick). Then, allow your fluid to dry, then you can test out your printing, and what should happen is that your wheel support should start to behave like a spring again, raising up in the normal way, with a light pressure, and you won't get a reputation of your 'Pizza Wheel"marks on your print, which are quite irritating when you know that they appear on every one of your prints - So that's a very nice, easy method of eliminating this problem - thank you for watching!"

have to say that is by far the best help video on RU-vid i have ever watched! Epson WF 2010 (rollers can be seen from the front where the papers comes out) i had 3 separate lines on all my prints but now sorted,expensive repair saved but i had to improvise & just sprayed with multi purpose cleaner until i can get hold of magic bullet cleaner & my first print after cleaning i used a sheet of A4 card. brilliant help video thank you very much.

Thanks for the help. I had one wheel leaving a mark on my prints on my Epson R2000. Using the marked up print I located that wheel causing the marks and blew the wheel and spring off with can air. I then got a small sheet of mat board about 3 x5 inches, 1mm or .040in thick. I push it under all the wheels along my printer starting from the left.It was east to push in. I notice when I got to the one that was causing the marks it was a harder to push in. I blew it some more air on it and worked the mat board in and out about 30 time so it felt the same as when I push it under all the other wheels. I think it was stuck down and didn't push up when the paper went through. I made the same exact print and low and behold, it was perfect, no marks. Thanks. If that didn't work I would have when with the Magic Bullet.

Thanks it worked. I looked at the roller giving the problem and there was a bit of lint wrapped around the pizza cutter, removed it and cleaned it and problem solved.

Thanks for the video, are you using this printer for large volume 1000 prints per year with reliable results ? I'm looking for a color printer A3+ for producing small run book covers, budget small laser printers don't go over A3 and of course the color isn't that good. Just concerned about the reliablibilty, with maintanence of course. I'd use quality ink from your uk shop etc, already bough magic bullet hoping to get a epson 8010 pro working but nothing good yet.

Why on earth couldn't they have just used bigger soft-rubber wheels (like the spiky rollers without the spikes)? That would surely be superior in every way.. or am I missing something?

i don't believe i have any ink on my pizza wheels but im still seeing the dots on my image? could it be the wheel is actually making impressions on my glossy paper? if so how can i stop it from doing so

I was so incredibly frustrated with these wheels picking up ink and leaving a scratch on my prints on a Canon Pro-100. This is what finally fixed it for me!!!!! (I used 99.9% iso alcohol).

I have warranted 2 Canon Pixma Pro 10s that are brand new because of this problem. Is it normal to see these marks faintly? The ones in your video look deep in that specific row. I actually ordered a promotional sample and it has faint pizza marks as you call them throughout the image.

this is not why you are getting these pizza roller marks, and on many printers, such as the 3880, you can stick a pin or tape various little sensors that dictate whether the pizza wheels engage or not. usually this is done by jamming the sensor that allows front manual feed, or rear feed, depending on printer model. you can also just rip them out with pliers, they come off easily. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL that you have removed ALL of the debris pieces afterwords... really easy way to total your printer if you neglect to see a stray wheel in the path of the printhead. again, unless your printer is ridiculously dirty (the ink coagulates in many places on the printer, but the rollers are not usually one of them) this will not do much to help you, because the printer is actually deliberately making those wheels touch your print to ensure that it maintains alignment. Also, just buy Simple Green cleaner, it works better and it's safe for your print head.

HI i have similar marks on my prints when using slow dry paper. Only difference is I have a few vertical lines of white dots across my prints. I have tried head cleaning ect..is this from the pizza wheels? I was told it was because of the paper I am using.
@marrutt

i have this issue but its worse for me because i use my eco tank epson as a sublimation printer, on dark images when heat pressed the marks are not showing but when its like image or white when printed i see the indents but when i head press the image to coasters etc those indents turn to black dots which looks a mess and not nice for selling

@@rochelle.. Some isopropanol with cloth clean the wheels but make sure you don't touch the print head. Reduce the density settings, turn on Quiet more/Slow print - the reason it's doing it, it's because the ink doesn't dry before touching the wheels

@@alanconnolly3573 interesting - by heavier do you mean thicker GSM? Yes I am a photographer, but my experience with printing is limited to sending digital files off for print or printing in a darkroom - actually printing myself with a ‘printer’ is a mysterious art to me beyond word documents! Could I ask what paper you use exactly? I’ll try picking some up and see if it helps. To be fair I was using very cheap photo paper just to start out with and get a handle on things - I have a 280gsm and a 220 gsm - I was wondering myself if *thinner* paper might be the key, less pressure then between the roller and the pizza wheel thing that punches the holes?

Thank you so much! first video that actually can solve my problem! Only thing is I don't see the little pizza rollers in my Epson WF-7710 printer. The pizza roller marks are all across my paper and the printer is brand new. Is there a way to speed up the drying process during printing? I'm printing on 11 X 17 sublimation paper.

I have this same problem, same printer, using sublimation ink. I am going to try this magic bullet and see if it helps. It’s driving me crazy but in your settings somewhere in there it shows drying time normal longer or longest. I did longest and thickest paper still having the same problem.
