Thank you for this video. I turned the knob of my iron to cotton and made shine marks. I am told maybe because it was a thin 100 percent cotton shirt that the iron setting for cotton was too hot. I will start at a low setting.

hey! these are great tips but how would you recommend pressing synthetics while you're sewing - i find it incredibly difficult to get seams to actually press open without scorching or even worse shrinking the fabric - especially on fibres like viscose and polyester - not having your seams pressed just makes everything look puffy and crap

Do you have to use the button for to put water out on the iron to iron. I been ironing without wetting the clothing &get a shiny mark on the clothes.

Hi Niki. Check out this link ironinglab.com/remove-iroing-marks/ It may be difficult to remove the shine if it is a polyester bomber jacket but if it's cotton, you have a good chance of reversing the damage. Good luck.

Ironing cloths, ironing inside out, low heat, broad sweeps, and use a steamer for lighter fabrics (for a lighter wool dress pant, I would steam the pant the length of it, iron the waistband and sear inside out, and finish with an ironing cloth and a medium-low heat.

Hi Monica. Try hydrogen peroxide (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7zH047ujEz4.html) and brushing the fabric with a firm bristled brush. This can help soften the flattened fibers that make the material look shiny. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear that Maria, I totally get your frustration. If the pillow cover is white, the hydrogen peroxide will save the day. If the material is colored, first test the solution on an inner fold to ensure it is colorfast. With colored fabrics, the hydrogen peroxide could fade the area you are treating.

@@IroningLab I worked! Not only did it work on the small pillow cover but also on the bigger one, that was burned by a guest when she let it fall on top of the baseboard heater. There are still a few little holes on the ruffle part of the cover but the brown bits have faded. The small pillow cover has a faint yellow aura, but I am the only one who can see it. From Sun Valley Idaho with love...

Hi Myra. Watch this video for an effective way to remove shine marks, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7zH047ujEz4.html Test the 3% hydrogen peroxide on a small (hidden) area of the uniform first to make sure the color does not fade. Brushing the shine with a rough brush will also help lift the compressed fibers. Good luck.
