Practice is the key. I can compose a new part and spend 5 mins trying to record it right, especially if I try to push or pull the beat depending on what I want, find the right pocket, whatever... The second time I play it again, some beats will be off. I can either spend the next 5 minutes cutting and moving my transients so they match, or instead of recording, I can just practice the part for 5 minutes for the next few days so that when I double the transients will be almost perfectly locked.

As an all-rounder, I always suggest Reaper. The default design may not be the sexiest, haha, but it has everything you'll need to get started. It's the most customisable, so if you want to dive deeper into advanced features later on, the option is there. It's also technically free, as it has a never-ending trial. If you're a Mac user, Logic is also a solid choice.

I tried a few including Pro Tools and FL Studio, but nothing beats Logic for me in terms of UX and ease of use. It has a lot of kinks though, especially because they try to dumb it down and automatically apply tempo to audio tracks and other silly stuff that belongs in Garageband. But kinks aside it's still easy to learn, looks good, shortcuts make sense and it has almost nearly no latency. I have a friend who hates MacOS, so he uses Reaper instead, it seems good too.

That being said, maybe actually Garageband is the best for a beginner! And to put it crudely, it's the "gateway drug" for Logic 😆

I don't really understand the point you're trying to make. The video isn't focused on one specific genre, and even if it was, are you implying that all punk guitarists sound like beginners?

@@SugarpillProd would Nirvana be Nirvana if Kurt wasn’t a sloppy unique guitar player? I think sometimes, those of us who record, are to nit picky on certain things. It’s the sloppiness of a lot of the old school hardcore punk bands that makes it special. Sometimes you’ll do comparisons on sound during recording - and I can’t tell the difference. It’s not a big deal but it does seem like your being a little to critical at times. It’s not a slam on you
