I love the scam calls that tell me that if I don't send them money right now, the police outside my door will take me to debtors' prison. The callers are always so angry and aggressive.

Glad that a telco is doing something about this. Hopefully others around the world will follow suit. Australian Telcos don’t seem to be doing anything about spam or even worse, scam calls.

In India we use the app "TrueCaller" which blocks or tells the user if it's a robot or scam call and it was launched which was launched 9 years ago

I wish Apple would add a way to easily toggle the “filter unknown callers” feature built into iPhones off and on. I feel like that would be helpful.

They did. It's been there for awhile. Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers. The phone won't ring. The number will show up in your recent call list & they can leave a message. So if it's important you can add them to your contacts. If it's truly spam, just block the number.

There's a setting in iOS which prevents calls from unknown numbers from appearing on your iPhone! 👌🏻

As always, iJustine is a life saver. I'm a premium Verizon customer and still didn't know about Call Filter. I'll be using that from now on because I hate spam calls, especially since I get them a LOT. Thanks again iJustine, you remain my absolute FAVORITE RU-vidr.

Also, once you have the app downloaded in the phone settings section of your iphone you can hit “SMS/Call Reporting” and turn it on which will give you a “native” report option at the bottom of texts and for calls that you do not have saved as contacts… so you don’t even have to bother opening and using the UI of the “Call Filter” app. Also regardless of whether you have a spam call app, iPhone has a built in festive to block unknown numbers. Though it can be a bit toooo restrictive as it will silence any number you don’t have in your contacts. Though I believe they can still leave a message.

Ones time they text my parents phone saying we will paint your walls for this much of money but they try to take over the bank account and I knew it was a scam ty ijustin for showing us what’s new

The scariest one I got was someone claiming to be from US Bank ( where I work and have a credit card) and they knew my ssn number and said I owed $700.00 on my credit card and how would I like to make a payment. I said I don't know anything about that and hung up. I then called US Bank customer service and reported it. They confirmed it was a spam call which they've had lots of reports about.

YouMail …. Been using it for years! Loads of options, custom greetings, out of service message to known spam/scam numbers, etc… Free version works amazingly well!

T mobile has a good call filter. My phone hasn't rung much. It also gives the name of the person so sometimes I answer and say their name and they hang right up

My mum got a scam call ages ago, she was dropping us of to school and she kept saying like just a sec i'll just do blah blah blah, and she would leave them for like 5 mins, then talk for like 30 secs and then she would say oh ill check and leave them for 10 mins, and it was halerious!!!!!

Oh my gosh, I got two spam calls with the same voicemail robocaller voices earlier. They said they would take legal action against me if I didn't answer. The area codes were from Michigan and Colorado.

I am gonna be honest. I had this on my phone for over two years and it made the calls worse. Instead, I answer the phone "hello, you're on a recorded line" and they hang up immediately.

I never answer my phone (calls OR texts) unless I know who it is. For me, if it's not a call or a text from a number I have saved into my phone, it's probably a scam; so I don't answer or respond unless I was expecting a call or a text from a number that I don't have in my phone yet. If the number appears to be local, I let it go to voicemail because they'll likely leave a voicemail if it's actually important. Then if they do leave a voicemail, I listen for the same signs Justine mentioned when listening to the message. 9 times out of 10, the call still was either a scam and/or not intended for me. Also, I never text anyone back who appears to have texted the "wrong number". While it may be an honest mistake for someone to actually text the wrong number, I feel that this could be another way scammers may try to lure you in/see if your number is working to distribute it to other scammers. I've also seen a few posts going around that "wrong number" texts could also be from creeps trying to lure someone in by intentionally texting the "wrong number" hoping you'll respond and fall for it when they attempt to make a connection with you, despite knowing you're not the "intended recipient". Besides, it's not my responsibility to tell someone that someone slipped them the wrong number. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I need this in my life, but I have a question. I've been applying to different jobs lately. How do I know if it's a potential job calling or a spam? I usually don't answer then check the messages later. If no message it was a spam. If yes message saying, "We liked your application please get back to us," then not spam. BUT! I have to leave the phone on vibrate so it doesn't bug me or just not answer.

Great video! Would love to see her do a collab with Kitboga or Jim Browning. Shaken/Stir is a good idea, however I would love to see some AI. If someone spoofs and uses my number for spam calls, apply some logic and be like . . . why is he all of a sudden calling 20 numbers to his area code or to other numbers he hasn't called before.
