We are based in North Wales and manage around 150 colonies of bees, plus nucleus colonies.
We produce Great Taste Award winning honey and sell nucleus colonies to members of the public.
Our 6 frame overwintered nucleus colonies sell out very fast every year so early ordering is advisable.

We supply F1 Mated Buckfast and Jolanta Queens throughout the season. The UK Mated Jolanta Queens are reared using genetics used by the UK's biggest bee farmer - Murray McGregor - and are not available to general public, except through resellers like us! Check out our queens page on our website.

We are passionate about beekeeping and really enjoy helping beekeepers through our RU-vid channel.
On our channel you can find information on making splits with swarm cells, making increase with queen cells, grafting larvae, foulbrood and disease inspection, honey extraction and machinery, top tips for beginners, products reviews, instructions and guidance plus much more.
#NO NONSENSE BEEKEEPING is a UK based beekeeping channel, designed to keep beekeeping as simple and enjoyable as possible. There are no overly complicated techniques or intricate pieces of equipment.
We cover all beekeeping topics ranging from queen rearing, disease recognition/control, honey extraction, swarm management/collection, how to make splits and much more!
My personal favourite aspects of beekeeping are selecting queens for rearing, rearing queens for mating, making up nucs for overwintering and collecting swarms.
We aim to bridge the gap between commercial and hobbyist beekeepers and cater for beekeepers of all experience levels.
No matter what your level of experience, please hit the subscribe button and join us on our journey!

Wish I'd seen this yesterday before mine left my long hive🤣. Not to worried, it was only a small swarm and I've now got them in a nuc at another apiery. I'm definitely going to move my brood back tomorrow, that's such a good idea

Well rats! I just came in from splitting my long hive because I discovered 5 capped queen cells, and 4 frames of brood right by the entrance. Plus, mite washed at 3%... I split into a standard Lang, put the queen and 2 brood frames with the split, checkerboarded the long, and treated the long with formic pro and the split with Apiguard. I’ll try this technique next time!

Really great video, something i've just done, so useful thing to learn especially that you can treat as well.

We have a flow hive set up in our long hive so this manipulation isn’t a option for us. Contemplating bruising all the honey frames in the brood box to encourage the bees to move the honey into the flow frames. Could prove tricky.

Great video. Wondering if you or anyone else ever uses a 1:1 sugar feeder frames in their horizontal hives.

Hi, Laurence! If you would have left the queen on one frame of brood near the entrance, and moved back the rest, filling the in between with comb or foundation, you would have had a Demaree, correct?

Really enjoying your videos. I am not yet a bee keeper, but we are planning to move to a new house with a much bigger garden, and I am seriously considering giving it a go. I am learning so much from you! The Hyde long hive looks have a very nice option. It looks really smart and well built, and I particularly like the fact that I could open the roof, but leave the clear crown boards on, to let my children have a look inside, without actually disturbing the bees and making them angry! I have a couple of concerns tho. As an inexperience keeper, handling the large frames could be difficult. I am also struggling to find any information about how to extract honey from such large frames, is it even possible? I see you can get a version of the hive using standard national frames, but presumably this gives the bees less room, and it seems room can already be a problem on the 14x12 frames? As an absolute beginner, would it make more sense to just go with a traditional hive set up, such as the Thorn budget national hive you reviewed in a past video? Sorry for the long post!

When you move the brood back, do you have to fill the void with empty frames or cannot be left as a void until you feel the need to fill it up as the honey production increases.

Great Stuff. How long will you take to give longhive a new queen?
