I adopted 2 Parakeets 2 weeks ago, a Male and a Female, after 2 days the male is tamed to me and I’m continuing to train him, however when I’m near by the female runs around the cage and screams even when I walk away from the cage. This is annoying because one day my neighbors will complain about it, especially in the mornings when I change the food before I go to school, if you could leave me any sorts of advice that would be amazing!
Budgie World when she’s outside of the cage, (she gets out by herself when I leave the door open) she will get on my finger and be calm, however when she’s in her mood outside and I do the step up command she runs, before when she came out it was hard to get her back in the cage because her wings were not clipped, however my budgies wings are clipped and they are regrowing, and I want to try my best to tame her before her primary flight feathers grow back so I don’t have to clip them again.
Yeah, my birds have been laying eggs alot. I have 2 preg budgies. They both lays five eggs. question: WILL THEY KEEP LAYING EGGS FOREVER? another question: WILL THEY BE FAKE???
I think my budgies are different genders and he regurderates and stuff for her and I’m worried they will have babies.... I don’t have a incubator or a nest for them and I don’t have a clue on what to do... someone please help!
Is the budgie has a pinkish cere (nose bit) then it’s a girl and if it’s blueish purple it is a boy. If budgies are friends they will regurgitate and preen each other so it doesn’t always mean they will breed. If there isn’t an area for her to lay eggs she probably won’t lay eggs, if she does lay eggs you can wait a week to see if she gets bored of them but don’t take them away from her, make sure she’s eating as laying the eggs takes a lot of energy. Then you can buy fake eggs to replace the ones she has or secretly take her eggs and freeze/ boil them one by one so that they won’t hatch, she will eventually realise they are faulty and she should loose interest at that point you can remove them completely. Taking the eggs away from her straight away after she’s mated them might cause her to lay more eggs. Budgie eggs take 17 to 23 days to hatch.
@@anypine24 Thabks! That was very helpful! They are both babies and so I can’t really tell yet, but the one is more puffier with darker feathers and smaller eyes and a blue ish cere it’s light though.
@@anypine24 it doesn’t always work like that. Some males can have purplish cere depends how old etc. depends if you have a rainbow budgie like one of mine etc etc
It's important for people to know that even a lone hen can start laying. My son's little hen he had years ago would coo when he would let her sit on his glasses. Sure enough shortly thereafter there were eggs on the bottom of the cage. We tried everything to get her to stop (except moving the cage, wish we would have had known that then) but he eventually had to stop interacting with her which upset him because she was bonded to him.
but what about lovebirds? the same? I have a one pair, and they've been copuling for so long ( in 2020 they've had a total of 5 babys). Now, they've started copulating (characteristic 'dance' and they also often fight). They have got a wooden box, but when i tried to take it down, they did not want to come back to their cage, so i put it back. i don't know what to do ;-/ Could you give me a hand? (sorry for (probably) some mistakes, english is not my native language :-))
Today I have separated the female from the other 3 in a different cage as she is only 8 months old . And I am a beginner with budgies, some expert advised to immediately separate her and keep in dark for 16 hrs and in light 8 hours only , it will calm her harmone and stop her from laying eggs . Pls guide
Great video ! I have a Q or 2 if you have time please. I have a mom and dad, and their 3 babies who all live in the same flight cage. The dad bred one of the yr old babies and she keeps sitting in the seed dish. I got her a box but i do not want more birds. The box is in case she lays an egg on the floor of the cage. Should i separate them at this point giving the dad and daughter their own cage ? or leave them all 5 together, OR split it up so i have 3 girls in one cage and the 2 males in the other ? Im trying to rehome a few of them ASAP to make this easier....as its not my intention to breed them. ( I thought if you had no nest box there would be no breeding. Wrong ! ) I do cover them at night with light blocking curtains as well so they have at least 12hrs darkness at times. Any suggestions ? Much appreciated !! :)
I NEED HELP, MY FEMALE BUDGIE WHO IS ONE YEAR OLD LAYED AN EGG AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO LOOK AFTER IT, PLEASE HELP, SHE LAYED IT YESTERDAY NIGHT AND SHE LOOKS VERY WEAK AND ISNT CHIRPING MUCH.
I have two untamed budgies and the male wants to breed but the female doesn't usually want to I found one egg on the cage but it didn't look protected so we put it outside because we can't take care of another budgie. The female doesn't really seem to have a lot of nesting spread either. Just the top of the cage and inside the blinds
@@ashlyntherat2196 How do we do that..? We don't know how to even sell it, because of covid and all. I don't wanna murder it but we don't have much resources to even let it, like, develop! Any tips..?
@@archenwolf There's nothing wrong in what you did with the egg. Many people discard bird eggs because they don't want more birds or even the hassle of trying to help rear them.
You should not put 2 females with a male!! ... Bcoz its dangerous that the females will fight with each other for male,, you should put one female to another cage and buy a male for it
I wonder if anyone has ever tried Salt Peter. I know it has been used in the past to stop sex drive in men, in Humans. Also the Native Americans had a couple of different plants the ladies would eat to stop pregnancy. Just wondering if anyone has experimented with this in parakeets or other mammals.
@@crazyshemshem7897 They are all unfertilized which means they aren't worth anything. Plus she is suffering a lot while laying these eggs, so I just can't use her to make money.
My budgie already lays four eggs until today but after lay it break its egg itself.why this happen?what i should do to my budgie from breaking its egg?
budgies lay between 3 to 8 eggs, usually they lay every day or every other day, if you want to be sure 100% she stopped laying, you can wait a week or so, if no more eggs are found, then that is your signal
Thats what i wondered too but its because some budgies keep on laying eggs a lot which takes up energy and will die of excess, exhaustion, or because they dont have enough protein or nutrition. So I think that's why
Sorry for the reply so later in not a bird expert or anything close but im pretty sure thats just nature and try putting a piece of millet hanging on a toy or something they might go try to eat it
Ohhh, No don't worry about that. Parakeets are no where near endangered. Notheless there are many breeders of parakeets who keep the domestic line going. And on a grander scale, there are thousands if not millions of wild budgies in australia :) Its just that some people cant take care of the eggs their pet parakeets produce. Hope that helps#
Me too. I got nest boxes and the aviary but all the budgie just play and fight on them. Some males ones paired with other males instead of females, and the females don't have mates. It's crazy my budgies are so dumb. Lol
