How To Stop Your Child From Nail Biting 

I was biting my nails watching this video 😂😂how can I stop ughhhh

*Never distract or sooth a child with something to eat* , that’s going to create a habit of eating out of boredom or sooth themselves with something to eat. As they get older that havit will stick with them and that will be complicated to break for then. Don’t shame the child either by telling them it’s a bad and ugly habit to bite their nail. Remember that children doesn’t have many outlets to meet their emotional needs when they lack tools to meet said emotions they struggle to have. Nail biting is often tied to anxiety it is soothing for children and adults to bite their nails. To rid of the habit of biting the nails people need to find out what is going on enotionslly and meet that need. This takes time and eventually the need to bite their nails will go away because the problem has been solved. Infections is one thing, but most often parents try to correct this behavior by saying it looks ugly (remember that children internalise your words and thst’s not a good message to send to the kid that they are ugly). Help your kid and don’t shame them. If gentle verbal communication doesn’t work at home and the child’s nail biting continues please seek help due in order to help your child cope eith their emotions. The nail biting is a coping mechanism, and not because it tastes good.

My child just does it all the time. Even when he is on the field playing soccer. We can’t possibly distract him every second of the day. He bites when we’re in the car, at home, watching TV, in between active playing, etc etc
