How To Stop Your FireStick or Cube From Going To Sleep, Also How To Extend the Time Before it Sleeps 

If anybody knew how many hours I spent last night trying to find a decent video that worked for my fire stick without having me to go to my laptop which is a chrome in most directions doesn't come up with it this is the best video I've ever seen and very direct very comprehensive and very useful for everybody thank you

You sir are an absolute legend! My Fire Cube used to infuriate me when watching something then having to pause it to go and do something for more than 15 minutes to come back to a blank screen and then the home screen, and then having to spend ages hunting for the program I was watching again, the amount of times I've almost thrown the damn thing out of the window! When I go to install the remote ADB Shell, it says it will get full network access, but in your video it says it does not require any special access. I'm holding off on installing because it seems sketchy.

I can't thank you enough for this info! It worked on 2 of my firesticks but for some reason it won't work on my other one. It says make sure my device has network ADB enabled. And of course it is. I don't know why it's not working. But I'm so happy I was able to do it on the others. Thanks again

I did all this yesterday, did everything correctly, thought it worked, now it’s back to going to sleep! Ugh!! Maybe I’ll try it again. Update: ok I just checked it out again and it’s still set to 0 on the timeout. You think maybe it’s a setting on my tv that’s turning it off? Going to check that now!

What a great video. Do you have one for changing the slideshow settings? I have it set on fast but that’s still 40 seconds a slide which is really long! There’s gotta be a way to make it 20?

Fantastic video Chris, this fix works to stop the Firestick sleeping while the TV is switched on but unfortunately as soon as you turn the TV off the Firestick logs out presenting you with the user login screen. Is there any way to stop this behaviour? ie keeping the Firestick awake and logged in even when you turn the TV off. Update: Most TVs seem to have a separate CEC/simlink feature that syncs power. Turn it off and bingo the Firestick stays active. Now I can leave the sideloaded Wolf launcher active and I don't have to put up with the standard messy advertising saturated Firestick interface.

Does this work on the new Firestick 4K Max? This method worked on my previous Firestick 4K, but can't seem to connect when I reach the ADB connection point

I have experience with computers and this is a very serious task people when he says double N quadruple check your spelling, spaces and underscores he means it. If you mess up 1 letter you will be buying a new fire stick. This is like goin into your task manager on your computer in commands and typing a new command get it wrong and your screwed. I would like 14:18 to thank you once again Sir for figuring out how to do this and sharing. I 🫡 you…. Mine said Kara the first time then it said a different name but had the 0 above the name. Take snapshots people. I wish i had but thankfully it worked. So if it says a different name other than Kara don’t panic as long as you have the 0 value above your good to go 😅 mine works just fine. 😊

Chris - thank you so much, this helped prevent the fire stick from going back to it's home screen and losing my place in a paused video. However, the screen saver still invokes - is there any way to disable the screen saver so the paused image just remains on the screen? I'm doing something specific where I want a particular image (part of a paused video) to remain on the screen so the screen acts as sort of a photo portrait. Thank you!

This worked on two of my fire sticks but the one at work keeps saying failed and then connecting with a note saying please make sure the target device has network ADB enabled. You may need to accept the prompt on the target device if you are connecting to it for the first time from this device. What does that mean? My fire stick is all proper, and has the correct settings. Is it the actual network? I am hooked up to at work being the problem? I have uninstalled everything restarted, and I get the same results.
