Thanks for the video, I've been thinking about a kit for twice the cost but you helped convince me on Powerstop. Been using their pads and rotors for a few years now anyway
Only thing you have to keep an eye on when switching to drilled/slotted rotors is making sure they don't get mud/dirt/sand/debris inside the grooves or drilled holes. Just keep a pick with you and if they do clean them out. They definetly will help with over-heating the rotors though, heat dissipation.
I've never run a Big Brake kit, but have used the Powerstop drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads on an old Accord and an F150 and have been super pleased with their quality and performance! The pricing was also reasonable when compared to OEM components. Will be interested to hear your longterm thoughts on offroad performance with this kit. The old Accord had 75K miles on the Powerstop brakes when we got rid of it and everything still looked and performed great.
Boy, you guys in the south without road salt are lucky ! Up north here we put caliper grease under the brake pad clips as well on top of them to stop rust jacking, and we have to never sieze everything ! Great video, keep them coming !
I hope not but I have never ran slotted or drilled rotors. I didn't see any reviews of people having that problem. I guess we will see. I'll keep you posted.
My neighbor runs drill and slotted rotors on his WJ. He said they make more noise as small rocks make it into the pads. I'm not sure if there is any damage or if it's just an inconvenience. For overlanding where you are mainly on roads or fire trails you shouldn't have issues. If you go through mud a lot I think regular rotors are better.
