I want to know...generally does a vet suppose to look over your fur baby's body, ears, EYES when doing a general exam or even annual exam? Reason I ask is our 15 year old lab mix started showing signs of irritated eye a little over a year ago. She also was fighting a couple recurring UTI's..she was showing signs of discomfort and I was under impression that was due to UTI. Had her in and out a handful of times and to an ER clinic ...fortunately the UTI has been successfully treated. BUT we notice her one eye is now really red. Took her to one vet and he looks in eye, says it's irritated and gives us a freakin anti-biotic gel. Next day I'm like "screw this" and took her to another vet, they do pressure test and whaddya know...glaucoma and blind in one eye. It read 99 in bad eye and 45 in other eye. After drops and 10 mins later the one eye went from 45 to 15 but the other remains 99. So over several months when our vet was examining her..they fail to I dunno look at her eyes...I figure thats a basic check during an exam? We moved from TN back home to NC and very disappointed that some vet care is practically useless. In TN we had bad luck so dealing with this really tweaks my low frustration tolerance. We have the drops at the moment until a re-check but I'm scouting new vets.
Omg I’m going through the same thing with my husky it’s so sad at this moment I don’t know what to do to help her these drops aren’t working for her anymore I need to find a vet that really knows how to fix or help with this problem without removing her eye
Thank you... My dog. A jack russel. Lost her one eye to this. and three weeks ago. The other eye. Started with gloacoma... Now today my vet told me to take him to a eye specialist in pretoria. Or somewhere... But I dont have the money. I am so sad. Because if this doesnt get beter i am going to loose my dog... They are the only things I have left....
I’m so sorry to hear about your munchkin! Any updates on his condition? We’re in the same situation - my dog’s right eye was removed last December, now today his left eye is swelling. Ugh!!

Very informative. My 12 yr old Boston Terrier has glaucoma in both eyes that developed from cataracts and is being managed with lots of eye drops to hopefully reduce his pressure. His right eye was at 35 & his left 45. His right eye had a tear & infection. His follow up is next week to see if it’s helping (praying it does), but the 2nd options we have is to try the shot to release the pressure or removal.
Ours has SARDS but very similar and very sad to watch him in his sadness and depression but we are doing our best to keep him moving and safe so ty for the video not much help really for us. PRayers for all dog and cat owners going through these issues. Operations are from 10,000 thousand and upwards (Can) with a possible outcome of 50% so very risky at this point - donate to help research find more cures.
my kitten has this, and his situation is so bad, his eye is falling out, the surgery price is something like 2.000 $ + and i don’t have the money!! It hurts to see him like this and knowing he’s in pain. I bought some stuff to help but i don’t think he’s gonna make it without the surgery i just can’t stop crying man
Sorry 😢 I know how you feel. My dog is in the same place. Where if the medication management doesn’t help, eye surgery removal is $4k fur both eyes. It’s a difficult decision. 🫂
Doctor, my dog was prescribed with moxifloxacin and prednisolone acetate eye drops when asked for a very slight blue cloud in the right eye. Within 2 days the eyes started swelling and pupils dilated. when visiting again the vet gave dorzolamide and timolol eye drops but using the later my dog is facing droopy eyes along with blue cloudy eye(right eye) and dilated pupils (in left eye). Is he okay. Will it be cured ?

My dog got this on Christmas eve and was blind in one eye in 2 days even with immediate care.

My Vet confiemed my dog right eye vet has glacouma due to progression from cataract after all the test carried out, he is put on eye drop, it has been 2 months now, i am curious, since this is problem is not curable, is it the eye will continue to give him trouble in eye pressure for his whole life ?
I just put a dog down. His eyes were bulging but not cloudy. He quit eating and within a few days wasn’t even able to get up. Young dog. Vet tested for everything he could think of. Do eyes always get cloudy? His weren’t at all. Just bulging out kind of. But looked clear.

Seriously ? Instead of criticising just realise he is trying to explain a very complicated medical conditions in the easiest possible way and in a dynamic manner for everyone to be able to understand and help their beloved animals. I'm a vet as well and I know how hard it can be to explain diseases and keeping their attention . Please contribute with something positive next time and try to see what's behind... let's have a more appreciative and uplifting attitude. Cheers
