thanks for your clear instructions. I will try yyour recommendation. I did have it set to one hour (!) but it seemed to go to sleep after 10 minutes. I have now set it to never. Let's see what happens now. 😉

Hey Dave, Thanks for your expertise in solving Computer challenges. Unfortunately, I don't know computer language very well, so I might not be asking the right question to solve the challenge I have. No matter what I have tried I can not get my computer out of sleep mode to try anything. Its a desk top. I have so many documents stored that that's the main usage for me. Were documents are a big one and to be able to access and print. Alot of other tasks I simply do straight from my phone. I don't know how to access these documents when my computer is in constant sleep mode. Are my files stored on the actual moniter.? Or in the tower that runs it ? I have no idea

Hi, this has no effect. My computer monitors go to sleep while I'm watching youtube videos or playing casino games and I can't wake them up. No matter if the computer eventually follows suit, I can't wake it up. I have to press the power button to power off and reboot. Please help. I have an HP Pavillion Desktop and I use Windows 10 for my operating system. This is a real pain in the you know what. Thank you.

Thanks Dave i have tried all that but my Asus vivobook 17 really tries my patience, the screen switches off after 5 minutes no matter how I change it in the settings. I have tried just about everything including mouse jiggler and Coffee apps but all to no avail. My son in law even tried changing it in the registered but nothing will change it. After 5 minutes the screen goes off and I have to retype my passcode to get back in. This is extremely annoying as I may be working on my laptop and iPad at the same time and when I look at the laptop it has gone to sleep again, again. It doesn't;t switch off if videos are playing and if I am listening to music on iTunes it still plays but the screen does go off. Any help will probably keep me outta the nuthouse or stop me from throwing my laptop outta the window please, please, please

Hi Dave. Thanx a lot for such informative videos dat u make. I hav learnt many things vfrom dem. Keep doing dat good work. I hav a loptop. Whenever i switch it on some beep sound come to play and tab n scroll button lights keep blinking for atleast 5 times. Den aftrr some time it gets on . I have recently changed my harddisk. I thought it is because of dat but the problem still persist. Can u please tell me how can i solve it. Also sometimes whem blue error symbol come on screen and some times my cursor doent work i mean it gets hanged. This happen mostly when i install driver after installing windows Can u suggest me anything for dia. Thanx

My specs: Windows 10 Home, Microsoft Edge Browser. My question: In the power and sleep setting, when you set the screen sleep ( on battery or while plugged in ) to lets say 2 minutes ,can the setting you put take effect while watching a RU-vid video? I want to listen to songs on RU-vid while doing something else; therefore, I won't need the screen. Is this possible?

I have a question that I hope you can answer. I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (9th Gen) Windows 10. There appears to be a feature that, every time I look away from the device, the screen times out and returns me to the lock screen. Its kind of akin to the haptic feedback on my phone were if I look away the screen dims. I need to turn this off. it is terrible. Can you provide some advice?

Hey Dave, what about Windows 11, when I change setting "When plugged in, turn of my screen after" and 15 min by default. When I change it to "Never" it saves but after PC restart it goes back to default (15 min).

My pc goes to sleep and even when I touch the keyboard it won't come back on, I had to turn the power off manually and back on to get it back on. Can you help me?

Hi Dave, I have two questions. How can you remove a (possible) virus from your laptop? Also, can I use Express VPN to watch American TV? I live in the UK and want to watch a particular TV series I am fond of but want to watch live. I am prepared to subscribe to a VPN if necessary. I have Norton Utilities on my computer and can change VPN settings to any region I want but not to any city. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I found this GREAT link re. solutions but why is Windows 11 (and previous versions!) SO 'baddly trained' that it does not understand CPU activity to = BUSY = STAY AWAKE?

I have a DIFFERENT problem! Perhaps it is definitions: I have been aware of screen savers and shutting down disks/ssd since these functions appeared! I am an Engineer and I also download large files as many do (especially as the net is congested with multimedia files these days!) In my opinion, 'sleep' (display!) can be any time you leave/stop looking at your display/machine especially with the present speed for a display to wake!! (Am I wrong?) For ALL users that have/need activities to run (from time to time!) when the PC is unatended (downloading, calcs, CCTV etc.) 'sleep' (drives!) should NEVER occur when the CPU is 'busy'! (Right? Simple?) Or is this only my 'Pommie' Engineering logic? (I have a recollection that it was possible to delay 'sleep' or 'wake' during LPT activity, in the past!) PLEASE HELP! ; )

I agree with some of the other comments. I have adjusted the screen and sleep settings to never on all 4 but it still goes to sleep after around a minute of inactivity. This is super frustrating. So what if the settings dont work? Also, it hasnt always done this. It would go at least 5-10min before the screen locked and went dark. All of a sudden today it goes so fast to that now. Can anyone help?

Didn't work for me. I've set it to never several times and after a few minutes it goes to sleep. Really a pain, especially when releasing music that I need to follow charts for. I can't even finish a song before it goes to sleep! 😡
