One of my first preps was switching to instant coffee. It's a nessesary psychological toughness. So now everything instant coffee is on sale I buy extra fir long term storage. Side note, my dad gave me a bottle of instant coffee that was 11 years old. It's was perfectly preserved.

Hello from Australia I have both instant coffee and roasted bean coffee in brown paper bags and then I vacuum seal them they then go into a food grade bucket I have my buckets organised so that I have 2 months supplies in each bucket Recently I took a bucket that I packed in 1999 on a 5 camping trip with friends and we all agreed that the food and coffee were still in great shape Thank you

Been thru a few larger natural disasters over my years that knocked out utilities + flooded places for a few weeks. Instant coffee on my camp stove really got the pep back in my and the neighbors step when we started doing damage control once the water went back out. Funny part is I literally was taking to wife how I wanted to add some instant coffee to small amount of things we've started to set aside.

I do enjoy my coffee. I keep beans in their original packaging, then inside mylar bags, which go in a large tupperware tote. However, I also keep a supply of a few jars of (shudder) "instant" coffee for when the situation *really* becomes dire. And of course I have several methods available for brewing. Thanks for the tips, JR!!

As much as I enjoy my cup of Java in the morning, I do have a good reserve vacuum sealed. But I also have a very good reserve of wake up (caffeine pills). If SHTF, not sure I want to be making coffee in the day. It involves risk of getting spotted if I am in the wild. Also wake ups make it easy to store, carry and use. And size vs weight and all. Those pills sure put the kick in. I would reserve coffee making in the wild for moments where I feel safe to do it and desperately need a moral booster. Thank you for your work and content. Peace.

@@alienprepper5918 I am not dependent on caffeine, I do enjoy a cup here and there. Keeping different options for a boost is a way to ensure long term. Of course I will eventually run out if this became long term. When times comes I will resort to chagga and other natural options.

This video is right up my alley. My first cup is usually the current ground coffee of my choice placed in a re-useable K-cup. The rest of the day (and I do mean the rest of the day) Sometimes right before bed I am consuming Great Value Instant coffee (12 oz. jar or up to 180 cups) which lasts me on average 4 months depending on how hot it is here in SW Florida. Most establishments only serve coffee in the A.M. around here. Of course my preps include a lot of coffee.

Lucky for me I don’t drink coffee. If I absolutely need caffeine I split a no doze. Any addiction is not good for you...including coffee. I suggest everybody start pushing themselves to overcome their addictions. Besides, stocking up on a few bottles of no doze will save a ton of money, storage space and time.
@allengrant
@allengrant 2 года назад
Soooo, you are advocating for folks to give up drinking coffee, substituting an over-the-counter pharmaceutical in its place? Interesting! Personally, I'll keep my ☕ in the AM ... it tastes better than pills.
@DISASTROPHOLOGY
@DISASTROPHOLOGY 2 года назад
@@allengrant No, Im not advocating anyone to be addicted to anything...including caffeine pills. I’m just saying they are cheap, compact, and you might need them to stay awake in a situation where you have to in order to protect your family. Are you telling me you are not going to keep aspirin, ibuprofen, or Tylenol on hand because they comes in a pill bottle? What about antibiotics? To each their own. No one is making you do anything dude. All no doze is is caffeine. Which, can also be addictive. The reason I say people should work on their addictions is because the stock might run out before the economy recovers. I think people should also be aware that caffeine/ coffee is bad for your adrenal glands and bad for those with glaucoma. Can literally cause them to go blind so before anybody takes anything, they should be doing their research.
@allengrant
@allengrant 2 года назад
@@DISASTROPHOLOGY I'm merely stating that coffee is a comfort item, similar to tea (which actually contains more caffeine) in Europe. and hot chocolate for others. It just makes folks feel better. I drink very dark roasted coffee, which contains much less caffeine than a light roast. I don't drink it for the caffeine high. Some folks (like me) just like the taste of coffee. Here's hoping you have a great day. Cheers.

I use the s-m for alot of long-term storage of frozen meats, pasta, beans and rice, air tights my dehydrated vegies, crackers, nuts, and hard candy in mason jars as well.
