Girl that’s how I grew my hair, I’m an expert doing rollers, but I don’t use the clips to hold or the other part, I use the big Bobby pins that hold better, I put the Bobby pin all do the way to the back of the roller so my roots will be flat, and I use only comb with metal holder which help me to part my hair great! And most of the Bobby pins that has fuller end, are better bc when is going into your hair won’t hurt, and another tip is made sure the end of your hair is completely flat on the roller that’s very important! And go into the dryer in low heat , or medium not high, if ur hair is still wet at the end go back, and they sell a piece that u can put it all the way around to protect ur face and ears from the heat! Hope this helps my hair is pass waist length, and after my hair is dry, i do exactly what u did at the End of the video and the next morning while I put my creams I reverse All my hair to the front and I do only one roller with my fingers and Wao! I look like I have soft big curls!!!!

Thanks for so many tips! I saw this face protector you mentioned! I haven’t used it because I use a low heat setting on my dryer, so my face is not hot at all but I wish I had one when I was a teenager going to the salon! That salon dryer is a different type of heat! My stylist had the ear covers but not the full face visor!

I do the same with the rollers with the Bobby pins. I don’t wrap my hair around after a comb it, I comb my hair back in a pony tail and next day, is wavy and nice. I would never use a plastic wrap on my dry hair, I use satin

oH YES, in the 70's we would use orange juice cans. We did not have the huge plastic curlers... or at least we didn't find them to buy. We'd wash our hair, towel dry, add Dippity-doo and smooth on a juice can once or twice around then add a can and stack the curlers! then wrap our head in a muslin dish cloth and roll up a towel for our neck at night. No pillows. we'd sleep on a neck roll. By morning our hair would be mostly dry. By stacking the curlers the root would be the straightest! you may try stacking and see if it works. Wavy ends are always nice. God bless you. and thanks for a great video.

Your hair is beautiful! Decades ago my hairstylist convinced me decades ago to do roller sets. I'm still doing roller sets to this day. I'm now in my 70's, gray chaired and natural hair. My issue now is finding a good setting lotion, cream or oil that would help with keeping moisture in my hair. I live in the Midwest lots of humidity. Roller sets are definitely worth it. You will notice a big difference in your hair texture plus hair growth.

Maybe try Passions Curl Paste on top of your favorite moisture? I use it on my hair when it is slightly dampened by a cream, like Garnier Fructis Curl Air Dry cream or the Sleek and Smooth version, and a little of something with some oil in it. I put a dab in my hand, rub my palms together, and apply it with a praying motion for a thin even application. It's several thin layers of product each added for a different purpose, but I love how it sets and lasts - without making my hair feel stiff or crunchy. It feels like I have no styling products on it. It works for my edges and roots too. And it lasts.

We used to do this with the pink Dippity Do in the 60s. We used wire rollers and large Bobby pins. Don’t know how it would work in type 4 curls because my friends and I who did this had 3c hair to 2c hair. The large Bobby pin through the wire roller lets you get the roller snug to the root. It does take an hour or more to dry. Now I just use the Revlon blow dryer brush. I’m done in 30 minutes. But this is a great result. It must be completely dry. You can also wrap this after you take it down and that will pull the roots straighter. Also buy a mini flat iron and use it to touch up your edges. Keep the heat low.

Cone shaped magnetic rollers,…game changer. Link three different size cone shaped rollers together to create (1) six inch long tapered magnetic roller. Make seven large rollers. I part my hair, then section my whole head into 7 pie shaped slices. Smooth the section flat with Oribé Heatless Styling Balm and a fine tooth comb. Dampen the section to get it sleek without flyaways. Pin the ends wrapped on the small end of the taper, then spiral up to the largest size and pin the root down with a second double prong roller clip being mindful not to collapse the three rollers. Crease free clamps keep my part flat. I’m letting them set with a side part this morning while typing this, and used 3 on each side, and my top and bang is in a 7th roller. Been doing this since 1996 and you have found the healthiest option my hair has ever known. The Oribé Heatless Styling Balm makes the sections dry faster (1-2 hours without a bonnet or heat). Once dry, I use the Oribé Nourishing Oil to break up the cast. I prefer some flyaways & movement when I do a middle part with 4 on each side, but today is humid in Florida, so I’m planning to use KMS Anti Humidity spray to seal it in on top for a smoother Hollywood style wave. My rollers are “Pro Basic Marianna Smooth Magnetic Cone Roller Pack” (with 6 dozen assorted rollers per unit). Hope this helps, but just have fun with it and try new stuff. This never gets old. Just touched my top roller and I’m already nearly dry. The Oribé products can be a bit pricey, but I’m happy to cut out the dryer time now. When I rinse it out, it feels like a conditioner. My hair is a little longer and thicker than yours and I use 2-3 small pumps on damp hair for my whole head. Keep rolling,….

The straight ends are from a combination of wrapping it with the brush and sitting under the hair dryer. If you want to retain the volume, try just wrapping it with the wide tooth comb (don’t smooth it so much, wrap it loosely). and tying it with a scarf.

Yes ! It depends on the texture. I believe you can blow dry and curl hair and then penn curl every night so you won’t have to curl hair every day saving your hair from heat damage . I have done it and it will last until next wash. You can apply heat to hair as long as it’s not too hot and excessive. I appreciate the suggestions but it’s usually from people that have 3A or 3B hair texture .
@zvezdoblyat
@zvezdoblyat 3 месяца назад
Wrong. Texture doesn't matter. As long as the hair is clean and conditioned, it's very wet and detangled, and you smooth the hair and tension it properly on the roller, the hair will be straight. Ofc it's harder than me saying it, but it's a very simple process.
@moniemoe6529
@moniemoe6529 3 месяца назад
The roller technique matters. Hair must be very wet. Cant squeeze more hair than the size of the roller. Plus she is doing the full base roller technique. That makes the roots straighter while drying.

This was my go to style back in the day before I went natural. I used to roll my very front roller in the middle towards my face but over directing it from the back to the front to prevent breakage around my hairline. Sometimes I sat under the dryer if u had somewhere to go but if not, I let it dry overnight. I still have these rollers but just haven’t tried this on my natural hair yet. U just made me wanna do just that. Love your hair. Btw I think the sleek wrap is what took all of the volume out. Wrap it not as tight if u wanna keep the more voluminous look. That’s what I used to do since I don’t care for flat wraps. They make my hair look less dense.

Things always come back; turntables, block heel shoes and magnetic hair rollers. These rollers worked back in the 60's and 70's along with hair pomade (grease). Glad this younger generation is finding out what us older ones were talking about. I never stopped using all of these things, including the VCR. This style stayed longer if the hair is pressed first rather that rolled on natural, not pressed hair.

😩 yasss It really does look like a relaxed perm set! Love it and I get a roller set everytime I get a retouch (the bounce, the shine, its unmatched) unfortunately where I'm from they can't do roller sets on natural hair (especially for type 4zs ) or else I'd definitely go back natural, with my primary style being roller sets cause sometimes I miss the curls.
@HeavenlyBridegroomMusic
@HeavenlyBridegroomMusic 3 месяца назад
Damage from roller sets comes from stretching wet hair around the roller with tension and drying the hair in its new temporary form. The tensile strength of the strands eventually will weaken over a period of time, causing the hair to lose elasticity and the hair begins to break at its weakest points. ❤Beautiful set.

If the tension is too tight, to the point where its going to break the hair, the rollers will cause a lot of discomfort...😮 I'm using rollers/curlers all the time, with almost no breakage, hot tools broke and ruined my hair, that's why I'm back to curlers for years now...I cringe for hot styling brushes and hot hair tools...

I love your Technique. It is perfect. The only thing I think that will help you out with the flow of the roller, and not accidentally hitting others already done is the type of clip you use. The ones you are using were made for pin curls. The ones that have an open booty, are the correct clips and it also prevents needless snagging. Your hair is beautiful. I'm finna get back on mine. I was waiting on more length to work with. 🎉🎉🎉

Large bobby pins for the Doobie but NOT for the curlers the clips are your best best for ease of use as well as holding the curlers in place. I mean, you can try it but its diffcult to readjust when needed.

You did a beautiful job. However the challenge most videos like this dont post is what state you are in because humidity is a real thing people. Likely if you moved to houston during August and attempted this no one would be impressed. We have to be more transparent. The more cotton your hair texture is think mine the chances are slim no matter the product or city I live I would never get your beautiful results. But that is not a bad thing. I have my go to styles too. Setting hair never went away. It is customizable but not for everybody in our salon. Love your video thank for sharing with us.

Exactly what it sounds like, adding water vapor, water in the gas state, water heated past boiling, it turns to steam. It can perpetrate the cuticle of the hair and hydrate it.

I more so base my roller size on my hair length, bigger as it gets longer so the dry time is tolerable. The bigger the roller, the fewer times the hair is wrapped and the faster it can dry
