If you put 1 twist in your strap it will not vibrate in the wind going down the road; )

I always put a twist on both ends. But I would advise putting all ratchets on passenger side. If you get in a pickle and you need to pull over to adjust ratchets you are out of the road way and hopefully wont get hit.

What type of rigging are you using there? Like strap length, chain size and length?
@dixiemae5042
@dixiemae5042 5 лет назад
You'll lucky having flat deck the entire length like that ... with mega ramps or the smaller ramps ... chaining that rear ain't as easy 😦

I bet. That was part of the reason why I didnt want that kid of trailer but dang I love using those ramps when needed.

Not sure about where you are, in Australia the ratchets dont count as part of the load, so they can sit outside, not way out, but if they sit outside the trailer they are not considered part of the load... if the handle fell down and stuck out heaps, then thats a fine.... Australia has thousands of dollars in fines, its crazy.... I think the truckers are honking at your partner as she is very attractive, just saying
@alanmcdonald2557

It's called a rub rail for a reason,to protect chains an straps,straps go on the inside if the rub rails,if u were to rub up against anything u would bust every strap,2nd u don't put all the binders on same side the end straps have ratchets on same side center strap rachets go on other side or all the pulling stress from straps is all pulling to the ratchet side,so if their staggered it pulls evenly straight down,,
@alanmcdonald2557
@alanmcdonald2557 5 месяцев назад
U wanna make it easier an faster,,cut a 20 ft chain in 5 ft lengths an put a big clevis slip hook on 1 end of chain an no hook on the other end,just hook clevis hook on each container corner tie down an put binder on each chain on the side,cuts time in half an alot easier

Getting sideswipe with the straps on the outside of the rub rail can totally unsecure your load. Thats why you keep them on the inside bro
@TruckandTravel
@TruckandTravel 2 года назад
How often do you get side swiped
@williekaminski3705
@williekaminski3705 Год назад
And the straps are exposed for the entire height of the load. A sideswipe could tear a strap anywhere, not just at the rubrail. Strap outside the rubrail is not against the rules.

Leave more slack in the front/ rear chains before applying the binder. If that would slide the least big it will tighten the chain and you won't get it off the load

We got them off load boards. They normally didn't pay well when we did them. They weight wasn't bad but the height catching all the wind, makes it a little rough on a pickup trucks transmission.

How do you secure 2 20ft containers on a 40ft flatbed? Just use chains on both ends since you can't access the center points on the containers and strap it down?
@TruckandTravel
@TruckandTravel 3 года назад
Should be able to use chains in the center. I over do stuff. I think you could get away with 1 chain and 2 straps per container. If you are using a pickup truck, these containers will get your transmission hotter. I've noticed the tall items work my truck harder then if it was flat and heavier. Be safe, you got this.
