I am so glad I came across your channel in my feed. Everything you said is so true. I grew up in a dysfunctional home. My stepfather was abusive. I was always being shouted at and could not voice my opinion. My half brother was the golden child. But mire later. I love your aet, your taste, and the carpet is beautiful. What did I love when I was little? Art. The thing I loved the most at school was art. I took art as a subject because it was available at the high school I went to. My weakest subject was maths. Except in Standard 8, we had a brilliant maths teacher. I understood her and achieved in the 80's for my tests without studying. She was pregnant and stopped teaching. She was so missed. After that my marks went down.😅 I liked biology and English. I would have live IT, but computers were not a thing in the 80's. I finished high school in 1984. Cell phones were not a thing yet. We did have fax machines. I will list my favorite subjects in order, to my least favorite. Art English Biology Georgraphy Afrikaans Maths 😂 I now know that everyone learns differently. The education system is flawed. They push sausages through a machine and you either sink or swim. The education system tell you what you must learn instead of teaching you in your way of learning and by making it fun. Why ate we all so serious? The best fun is when we play and use our imaginations. But somehow, once we start school, we are programmed to conform. I think it is intentional to dumb us down. I am a visual learner. I need to see an example of what you are explaining to me. Once I see it and understand it, I remember it. The way maths was taught was intangible. Just strings of things with strange names that I had to remember which didn't make sense. I understand Pi now but could not at school. How did I understand Pi instantly. Many years after school I saw a programme on TV about how the pyramids in Egypt were built using Pi. The graphic explained the maths and overlaid the pyramid, etc. I saw exactly what they meant and understood it. That is how I learn. I thought back to school and the teacher standing their writing weird things on a chalk board which meant nothing to me. That is why we think we are stupid or loose self confidence. I dont think anyone is stupid, we just have to find out how the person learns and what their natural aptitude is. What do they love naturally. Everything becomes a joy rather than a task. I did not land up going to art and music school. My reason is I was scared. My stepfather was abusive which made me very scared. I would rather stay at school because I needed my few friends. It is a pitty because I don't have those friends today. Deep down I was very insecure and I am sometimes shy. So what job did I land up doing in the corporate world? Costing large contract cleaning projects which was all about calculations. 😂 And my profession was sales. I started at the bottom and worked my way up to a Sales Director. My job entailed dealing with people on all levels all day.😂 But what happened to my art? I pushed it into the background. But the thing with being born artistic and creative, it must find an outlet. I love beautiful art, objects, fabric, furntiture, vintage, jewellery, etc. I love finding beautiful things. At a flea market, vintage shop, etc. I also like contemporary or new. Being eclectic and blending it all together is art to me. Having a beautiful home that inspires is a form of artistic expression. Some people like white and beige, grey spaces with very little in them. I can appreciate that but in my world I love the magic of colour and art. And I want to be surrounded by beautiful things. After all, when I am no longer alive, I can't enjoy anything. So, no matter what, enjoy all the things you love and do what you love. I might just take up doing your art lessons to get back into it after years of not painting. Thank you for your wise words. 🎨💕🤗

I am living alone too ....this video makes me feel so happy and reminded me of my first day moving here....i was excited and happy to organize things too....i am still changing directions of furniture and stuffs (feel welcomed part was true). I just want summer to come so that early morning rays enters my painting table ...i just love the view. .......Thank you This was a therapy indeed.❤

What kind of person asks you what your rug cost?! And then pass judgement! Tacky and rude. Hopefully you won't answer rude questions like that anymore. From now on, I would say "It cost a lot but it is worth it." Or you could just say it's none of their #%@* business! I have those same stacking, snap-together shelves. They are sturdy, cute and functional. Your art is so beautiful. What a beautiful space to create in! I think combining antique with contemporary is such a lovely, interesting look. The things you choose as the antique or contemporary piece really lets your personality shine and make the space truly yours.
