Great video, I am now a 1 Dan Kukkiwan and have chosen Kali as my weapon system. I use 24” Appalachian Hickory sticks from Kingfisher Woodworks, 50” White Oak 1” staff and mid sized BPS HK5 single edged knives. Your videos are part of the core of my study and very helpful. Thank you.
Good video. It is good to go over the basic terminology every now and then. I also liked the staff stuff at the end. Long reach weapons are the only thing I have not learned yet, so seeing similar strikes done with it is very helpful for me.
Does anyone remember Grace Jones in one of the Conan movies. Swinging her staff over her head in a circle to keep the crowd of opponents at bay? Nice arms on the lady. 😁
I wonder if the fluid strike is to get the stick away so the opponent can't grab it. Some of those circular strikes look good if there are multiple opponents.
Very much so for crowd control. It's one the things Kali good at at high levels. Sticks/staffs an blades are are primary weapons. An it can be pretty terrifying or a lost cause trying to attack someone skilled in their use. An it don't take long to get proficient an even great with such arms
@@robertagu5533 I make very nice walking sticks topped with antler and the occasional staff. A length of wood feels very good in my hands. Can Kali be learned alone online? If not maybe I could join a Kali online group with supervision. My biggest drawback is I am older and even a moderate strike makes a finger feel like it is broken. And I know what a broken finger feels like. 🤗😮🤗
i dunno man as a filipino im not sure about this martial art. i prefer the style of "tito boy made ma burner in his bagaio backyard". now i need to find bullets for my gun before dutarte takes em. haha jokes man. nice to seee westerners appreciate the culture.
