Does your cordless handheld Dyson DC34 Vacuum not work well anymore?
Does it seem blocked up even though there is no blockage? Reduced suction? Full of plaster dust where it has been used for the wrong things before?
This video will show you how to strip the cyclone unit down to wash it thoroughly, and reassemble to have your cordless cleaner working like new!

Perfect demonstration, I've had mine since new and thanks to you it looks and performs like it did when I took it out of the box many years ago. Thank you very much xx

Thank you! I did it. Hadn't cleaned mine since I got it in 2013! Ten Years! It is my favorite thing in my house, I use it multiple times a week. It worked. It is fabulous. Grateful for your video.

Very helpful. It's impressive how the dust is compressed to the point of looking mineral inside.

So I was in the process of taking mine apart as someone (cough cough wife cough cough) hoovered up some small pasta pieces my daughter dropped on the floor. We then went away for a month. Realised the other day it was minging inside. I got to the point where I was trying to take off the shroud and struggled. Thanks to you I saw it is removable and have since removed it ready for washing. Great video, thanks!

Brilliant, works like new. Mine is an even earlier version - orange top - just for info it needed a T10 for the inner screws and T8 for the outside one.

This is a very nice video of how the DC34 comes apart, BUT for those of us that have the very old orange top version of this hand vac please see gregbirdseye7546’s below. I didn’t have T8 bit so I just cleaned without completely taking apart cyclone. ALSO, take precise care when reinstalling seals, they have very specific orientation and some kept trying to roll 90 degrees when I was installing (video ignored that). Taking off shroud from the old orange version was very difficult and I chipped groove so I stopped trying at that point.

huzzah! I was wondering how to take it apart, like yours, plaster killed mine. I now have it dissasembled, cleaned and ready to be put back together, minus the unscrewing part, (don't have that screwdriver) just ran that all through the faucet to clean.

I own a DC34 Car & Auto handheld vacuum. Is there a way to take apart the canister to clean the flap of the air intake opening? My flap seems to be stuck open, so the debris falls out when I let go of the power button when held downward. There seem to be 2 torx screws, but when loosened, the solid plastic nozzle attachment will not disengage with the clear plastic container. There may be a compression fitting involved. Any hints would be appreciated. Regards!

I have several dysons. My DC35 multifloor that I recently acquired now picks up and works fine. But after it is in use for a while the light starts flashing like the battery is dying let off the trigger and press it again and it continues working if I put it on max suction it’ll go for 30 seconds or so but the light starts flashing and cuts off and I can let off the trigger and press again and start using it again. I get the most use with max off any ideas?

Common issue when the Battery is on its way out and needs replacing. I've been repairing Dysons for years and what you describe is something I come across quite often. Replacing the Battery cures it

I’m tackling this task and love your video so far, but I’ve hit a snag, I can’t remove the tiny screws to remove the cyclone funnels. Which screwdriver did you use?
@beko1987
@beko1987 4 года назад
T8, their tiny. The heads may also be packed with dust so will require some pushing to get the screwdriver into the screw head.

@@lizziebrooks4161 If your screw heads are packed with dust, you can get it out by sticking a needle or pin into the dust and wiggling it around. That's what I had to do.

Hi, Excellent very helpful video! :) I've just bought a cheap DC35 which is as bad really if not worse (and stinks)...but i need to get the nozzle off the bin too....how does that come off?
@beko1987
@beko1987 4 года назад
It doesn't really... I've had one off before and it's so tight you do cause damage, and levering it back on is even less fun. Dunk the whole bin in hot water and bio washing powder overnight. Scrub with a paintbrush or similar everywhere you can the next day then rinse. Fling as much water off as you can and leave it in the sun all day, or in the airing cupboard for 2 days. The water will evaporate and it'll be fine (you'll see through the bin if their still wet or not.). Dry it quickly as you can or it'll corrode.

@@beko1987 Thanks :) There is alot of guck begind the flap on mine and i can't get to it, even with toothbrushes and detail brushes due to the angle...and I'd like to have it clean due to not knowing what the previous user has been hoovering up with it.

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me. At 7:03, I don't have any torx screws. Do you know if I can wash the whole purple cyclone under running water without taking it apart? I'm worried if there's any electrical components inside the purple cyclone that will get damaged from washing it under running water.
@beko1987
@beko1987 3 года назад
No it will be fine. The worst there is is the wires running from the contacts at the back to the tool connector. They dry nicely, just leave it in a warm place for a few days, and turn them every so often. I use my airing cupboard

How do you strip the handle down?
@beko1987
@beko1987 4 года назад
You don't without physically damaging it, it's glued/sonic welded together a bit, with clips that you can only get to by levering on really thin plastic. I don't do it

Would have loved if you actually opened the motor and handle... this is merely a "service" not a stripdown.
@beko1987
@beko1987 2 года назад
There's not much point in going into the motor housing though. Certainly not for a service and if the motor or switch fails their all soldered together, so suddenly just an entire used motor unit from ebay becomes the sensible repair choice. This takes a running but badly cleaner and fixes it.
