I’m 18 from Arizona I’m about to graduate high school, studying abroad is something I’ve always wanted, but am still intimidated in college itself… I’m a little lost with what I want to study still as well I don’t think I would do well in China 😅
Welcome to the channel! You are still young and haven’t entered university yet so you have plenty of time to figure out where you want to go. If your plan is to study in the US but do an exchange program abroad then you still have a couple of years to do some research and talk to the coordinators at your university. If you want to do the entire degree abroad then I suggest maybe taking a gap year to figure out exactly where you want to go and do extensive research to see how your chosen place fits your needs and wants. I’ll admit China is a huge step out of the comfort zone especially if you are from the US or western cultures. However, it’s not to say that you can’t do it! You just have to prepare yourself for the ups and downs which will most definitely happen. If China is too much of a big step, try researching a western culture country(e.g. in Europe, North or South America) which can be much easier to assimilate into. Anyways, enough of my rambling. I hope this helps and good luck on your search! Definitely reach out to myself and others in case you need more help👍🏾
Hello! Nice video, I got CSC scholarship, selected for ECNU MA in Anthropology this year alhmdulillah. Hope to meet you soon. Would you mind making a video of an International Student Dormitory? Good luck! It's always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Hi Diandre! Very helpful video! I’m actually really interested in applying to the exact same program at this uni via CSC. Could you please share your experience about the interview and how the program has been so far?
Generally the scholarship application and program application processes are outlined on the university’s website. If I remember correctly you apply to the program and then apply for the scholarship directly after. I suggest you alert the university before or ask the school advisor for more clear instructions
Diandre, great job with the video. It's very informative and to the point! Thank you. I'd like to ask a question based on your experience/knowledge. Have you ever heard about a chinese university accepting a student past the application deadline? I'm going to be a self funded language (non degree) student. It's a little for the sept sem, but i was wondering while that sept sem is still a month away. Do the uni's fill in seats for the course post dedlines? Just in case you ever heard about that from someone or your thoughts. Thanks again
Hello, glad you found the video helpful! As for the late fill-ins, I have not heard of this before. It may be possible but from my experience, I have not seen it happen. I'd suggest contacting the target uni for more answers.
hi,..I did my hsk 3 and passed. I have studied Chinese for one year. kindly assist me in getting a fully funded scholarship September intake, 1year in china. I got the requirements. I am from Kenya. Thank you🙏🙏
Hi, Thanks for your support. I have one question, Does physical examination done by Chinese doctors or it can should be done by any hospital in my home country ?? And thanks for your support
Your physical can be done by any doctor in your home country. Once you arrive in China you will have to go through another physical examination in order to obtain your residence permit.
Hi! Thank you for all the usefull infos! I have 2 questions; First one: is there a specific time to apply? Second: I finished high school 3 years ago and started working, now i want to go to university in my country but as i want to study to become a translator for chinese, i think studying this in china would be definitely better. My question is do I have to be already in university to be able to apply for the scholarship? Thank you!
For your first question, I believe that there are specific deadlines but I am unsure of them for the current term. These deadlines could also different depending on the scholarship type you are applying for. It is best to refer to the official websites of your target university or the embassy that you are applying through if you choose that option. As for your second question, you can receive a scholarship for a language program specifically. You do not have to be enrolled in a university to apply. In that case, you will be taking intensive or standard chinese courses (some programs may also allow you to take a few other course such as business) that will prepare you to take the HSK exam at the end of your term.
Hi Don! I'm preparing to apply through my country's embassy. I'm expecting they will post the scholarship in early Dec and usually it only lasts 1 month. Since one of the required docs is the University's acceptance letter, I wonder how long it took you to receive yours so I work on that ASAP, I'm just scared I won't receive it on time by the time I need to submit my documents to the embassy. Also, which Uni are you attending? I'm so excited to apply and your video helped a lot! Hope I can make it there!
Hello KaMi! It took around 2- 2&1/2 months to receive my acceptance letter from the university. I’m sure your embassy would understand so speak with them if the deadlines are approaching and you have yet to receive acceptance. Also, I attend East China Normal University. Thanks for watching! Glad I could help!
Thanks so much dondre I want to apply for bachelor's degree for computer science, which uni is good for a fully funded program? Please i need ur advice
Hello! I do know some Chinese. I'm in the HSK 4 level of study. However, I don't always practice speaking so I always say I'm not that good😅. I have not taken any true Chinese courses with the exception of an online beginners course for a semester during the virus era. I think everyone learns at a different pace. I truthfully believe that practicing speaking is the best way to learn as I have seen some friends do it since I have been here. If you take an intensive language program here in person, it is very common to progress to conversational fluency in the span of 1 year. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video! I'm thinking of applying to Exchange so I was looking for scholarships but I couldn't be sure if they are available for exchange students ( or to my department, some scholarships only for students who study chinese etc as their major) soo you gave me hope hahah and which scholarship did you applied while you were doing exchange? Currently I'm taking chinese classes but I'm not sure if I can pass the hsk3 on time for scholarships but I'm trying my best
Hey! Majority of the scholarships I applied to were offered from my uni. Thats the first place I suggest you search. Try to schedule a meeting with one of the study abroad coordinators at your uni and ask them about the scholarship opportunities. Then there are many outside resources offering scholarships for exchange studies which you can find through a quick google search. Best piece of advice is to spend time writing a quality essay for the ones that require it. Thats how I was awarded my scholarships. Take the HSK test regardless. You don’t lose anything if you don’t pass and you may end up surprising yourself on how much you know. Good luck and I hope you get a chance to study abroad!
Unfortunately my uni doesn't offer scholarships for exchange, this is why I was searching for others 🥲 thank you for replying in a short while, I appreciate it. I'll take the hsk exam thank you for encouraging me 💕
Hey! Do you have any recs for the motivational letter? Should i talk about my interest in china, my interest in the uni or my interest in the chosen major?🙈 thank u!
This is actually a great question. I think you should talk about what is most compelling and unique to your specific situation but definitely add in some info about each of those topics. I'd say the idea is to stand out with a distinctive story but tie it into what makes you want to study in China.
Hi, thanks for doing this video. I'm a recently high school graduate with 17 yo interested in applying for applied physics at undergraduate degree, however I'm not fluent in English and have no IELTS/TOEFL certificate. Is important to have an English certified? And you can apply only with the Paperwork or do you need to do an interview, becouse as i said I'm not fluent and my speking is in like B1 level. I'm totally sure that i want to study Chinese, so an English program isn't necessarily. For what i know you can opt for a year of chinese
Hello, you do not need English if your program is in Chinese however you will need to pass the required HSK exam(exam) for the program you apply for. As for the interview yes you will need to have an interview even after submitting the documents but you will probably be interviewed in Chinese. If you do decide to take an English program, then you will need to pass the IELTS or equivalent English exam.
This means that for example if it is a 4 year degree, you would instead have 5 years. The first year will only be Chinese language courses in order to improve your Chinese to prepare for the courses. The following 4 years you will spend taking major specific courses and completing the degree requirements.
I think it all depends on the competition and the judges. I would suggest making up for “bad grades” in your study plan. You can sell yourself with your interests, previous experiences, hobbies, and any leadership opportunities you have been involved in. Also express how those experiences will shape your studying experience at your target university in China.
As far as applying while already being enrolled at a university in your home country I am not sure. How would you be able to study in both countries at once?
Don Dre, Thank you so much for that video! I was just wondering whether they will need me to send my documents through a courier or if I can send digital versions of them if you've any information in regards to that.
Hey thanks for uploading, useful stuff to know! Do you know if you can apply for the CSC Scholarship if you’re already in China, or can you only apply from your home country? Also for accommodation - if you get awarded the scholarship, would you be expected to share a room with someone else? And are you able to live off-campus while in receipt of the scholarship? Cheers again!
Hello, Yes you can apply for the scholarship if you are already in China. I have some friends who are in the process of applying right now. As for accommodation, it depends on the school's dorm styles. Many of the dorms have two-person rooms or even 4 person rooms. There are also some dorms that are individual rooms like mine. You can move off campus while receiving the scholarship but the school will not cover your rent. Thank you for watching!😁
Hi, thanks for this info. I've got a question though, I've finished my application and have gotten accepted by Zhejiang University (yay me💅) but I'm yet to hear anything from CSC, it's just showing "submitted" The main problem here is I've got until the 7th of May to pay up my tuition fee.
Congratulations on your acceptance!🎉As for the CSC application, reach out to the program coordinator’s and let them know the situation. They may have further information or will know what the next steps to take will be
Are there age limits to be elegible? I have heard in some videos 25 years old to be elegible for a bachelor degree, but I have talked with Chinese people and they told me there aren't any age requirement. It's so confused. I know about age limits to get scholarship, but what about if it's selffunded?
To apply for the scholarship, the applicant must be under 25 for a bachelor's, under 35 for a master, and under 40 for PhD. If you are self-funded, there should be no requirement.
You will need files from your school to apply for the visa. They will send you all the necessary files you need to apply for your visa after you have been accepted
Hi Don, I’m currently a senior university student in Africa and will be out next year and want to apply for the CSC scholarship program, what do you think is the best way possible?
Great video, thanks a lot for it! I am currently finishing my bachelor program and going to pass IELTS next summer. I try to search for information, but haven't got quite an answer yet: are there any full coverage scholarships for the ones who don't know english? I am willing to study at English during my master's degree, but a lot of these scholarships have a requirement to know Chinese. I will really appreciate if someone tells me about it
Thank you for watching! I think there was a typo and you meant scholarships for those who don’t know Chinese. But yes there is! You just have to find a program that is taught in English. However, even programs taught in English may require you to pass a certain HSK level before you graduate in which you will take Chinese courses and the HSK test during your studies in China. I hope this answers your question. Good luck on your exams!
I believe there are opportunities for corporate law majors however I am not familiar with them. I suggest searching around google for universities that offer those programs
Yes! You just have to find a program that offers English courses. You will most likely still be required to achieve some HSK level before you graduate. Generally around HSK 3-4 you will have to pass to graduate but your school will offer you Chinese language courses along with your regular major specific courses.
If I graduated from high school but am now taking a technical course, am I still eligible to try to get a undergraduate or is there any impediment? In the case of letters of recommendation, can they be from teachers of the technical course or must they be from teachers at my high school?
Yes you will still be eligible! Your program coordinators may ask about your technical course due to the “gap” in studying but it should not hinder your chances. As for the recommendation letters, I’m not fully sure if you are allowed to use references from your technical course. I would suggest maybe mixing in professors from both but using the ones who will give you the best recommendation letters
It all depends on the program you apply for. If it’s a Chinese based program then you may be required to have HSK level 4 or 5. If it’s an English based program you are not required to know Chinese ahead of time but you may need to take Chinese classes throughout your program and eventually pass HSK 3 or 4 to graduate. For a language program, you don’t need to know Chinese
Hi Don. I just watch all of your videos.. I had applied in same university and got nominated as a csc candidate also my application is in process in csc a few days ago.. I just want to clarify that how much chances i have to select for the final evaluation of scholarship. I am just worried. Hope you answer my question
Thank you for the support🙏🏾 I received 2 emails about acceptance. The first email was acceptance of enrollment and then the second email was confirmation that I was awarded the scholarship. I did not have to wait for a “final evaluation”. I am unsure what you mean about that so I suggest you reach out to the contacts at the university for further assistance on that part. I assume since you were nominated as a candidate that you will be awarded the scholarship but I am not 100% sure. Anyways congratulations and I hope you get officially awarded! Almost there🎉
Hii!, I have a doubt about the english certificate. The universities ask for the TOELF or the IELTS certificate, but I have the B2 level certificate of cambridge that is equivalent. Do you know if they accept it or I have to get the IELTS/TOELF?
I suggest that you should consult with your target schools counselor for more accurate information. I know that generally TOELF or IELTS are required if you come from a non English speaking country. Other than that, I’m not sure what else is acceptable as an equivalent.
Yes it is depending on which school you apply to. There are some schools that don’t require it. As for the language certificate, that is great as long as your target university accepts it. They may want an official certificate from a reputable organization (e.g IELTS, HSK).
Hi, friends, I'm going to graduate this year with a degree in human from the University of TV in Africa, but I really want to do a study in China, so I would like anyone who knows universities that offer opportunities for African students to study in China with scholarships to tell me about it, I would like to share information with me, because now I don't have any information and I just feel that I want to go to China, but I don't have any information about mosques, I would like to know with my own eyes, if you
Unfortunately, I don't have any link to the list of requirements but the requirements would be on each universities official pages. As for CS programs, you can start by searching the web for Chinese universities that offer CS. You can also search for the top schools in the nation and explore each one for their individual programs.
@@itsDiandre thanks for answering, another question. I understand the scholarship is for 3 years for masters. Do they give you one year of full study in Chinese and then you start your master, or you start the Chinese classes and master's classes since the first year?
I reckon that good grades are a big plus but I think other things matter as well such as previous experiences, activities, and your study plan and goals in China
@@itsDiandre I’m thinking of applying for a software engineering bachelor degree with my BAC (high school equiv) cus i did a 2year diploma after (in network IT and cybersSec ) but I guess They won’t recognize it, will it count as an experience? Or will it hold me back since I’m not a fresh high school graduate, and thanks for everything
@@creed404yt9 It should count as experience. But it definitely won't hold you back! As long as you are under the age of 25 (I believe this is still the age), then you can apply for a bachelors program. I hope all goes well! Good luck!!
Hi I'm a last year bachelor student and i want to apply for master degree in this scholarship I need to know if that possible or I have to get my bachelor degree first and apply the next year
You do not need to have your bachelor’s degree first however the university you apply to will ask you to get a signed form from your current university stating your intended graduation date.
There are also scholarships such as CSC available for undergraduate students. Most if not all of the information in this video pertains to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Phd applicants😁
hi man I got accepted to MF Finance at SAIF (SJTU) But I'm totally stressed about the csc application. It was way different than what others told me. Can I somehow contact you privately for some advice on it?
