You are so right on about knowing the foundation of knowing normal A and P before you can even begin to understand pathophys. I have cared for children and adults who have had cardiac surgery to correct congenital heart defects and even today the physics of those defects makes my head spin. Imagine how the circulatory system works when you have only one ventricle and try to wrap your head around that. I could have used a guy like you when I was in school. You have a great system that can't fail. I ended up doing everything the hard way.

+Keepit Real, RN Well thanks boss! I hope this method to my madness pays off in the long run. Just trying to absorb these disease processes as best I can and actually RETAIN it (which isn't the easiest thing to do). But yes, those are very interesting cases man. You're right, it's very hard to fathom those kinds of things. But super intriguing.

thanks for the video.. I'm in medsurg now and was struggling to keep my head above water. but now I know that is all about knowing patho, s.s, diagnostic, and nursing interventions. I just found out about the matrix system too,it helps to put all the diseases on one paper.

NurseBass, do you think you'll end up in education sometime later in your career? You'd be a great teacher.
@NurseBass
@NurseBass 8 лет назад
+mastuhrodent Well thank you very much, I'm very appreciative of that. I honestly think that I have a knack for teaching and it really is something that I enjoy doing and something that I think I'd be pretty good at. I don't think I'll ever end up doing it at an educational level but I would definitely love to do some public speaking at seminars or expos to try and educate Nurses one day, definitely. The only reason I wouldn't teach is because of the time necessary to go to school for it, and the pay. Other than that, it is something that I could totally see myself doing.

56 subscribers to 59k. Congrats. Whew oh awhile ago I mentioned videos online that break down chapters... was is that nrsng...or nurse mastery? 1/4 of class don't show to lecture lol...bc the teacher doesn't add to power points. So we literally are self teaching each other but it's like the blind leading the blind. Program is on its 3rd director in 4 years. So idk if it's the profs and new curriculum changes or what. I know the weight will be on my shoulders bc I took patho and pharmacology already...but I learned both from an M D. Which going to sound weird it doesn't translate to nursing how I was taught. I know my class is going to lean on me for this though. My clinical prof is an n.p and just told me just get through the program and do what you got to do and go N.P. Idk there is like a separation between the new profs and old ones...and I think we are feeling that. So .....i might be carrying this Spring semester. Any advice? I have the Saunders nclex review...my old patho book. Got a 98.8 % in patho but how we had to learn it was so fast...in 10 weeks.. I memory dumped it. We did 2 systems every week. Anyway still trying to hunt vids that break down each chapter. Our nursing situation is that bad. If I don't carry the load I don't see half passing. Thanks man. Wrote longer than I thought.

hey Nurse Bass do you think that these tips would be helpful for pathology in medical school?
@NurseBass
@NurseBass 8 лет назад
+krissy patterson Yes, 100%. That's the foundation and the basis for studies of pathophysiology in my opinion. There has to be an understanding of the normal anatomy and physiology in order to then begin to understand the pathologies. Most definitely a great structure to study by :)
@caribaez5711
@caribaez5711 6 лет назад
Ofc. Nurses are the proofreaders of the physicians. What makes you think physicians don’t cover pathophysiology? A physician looks at the Dx like scientist when a nurse is more therapeutic and holistic.

Hi, can you message me? I'm currently at the end of the Med Surg 2 and it's not easy! I did excellent in Respiratory, and GU, but GI just won't stick. No matter how many hours I spend studying it, it still wasn't enough. I could really use some studying advice because I tend to have a hard time weeding out the info I don't really need to know or focus on, so I overthink and look into EVERYTHING in the chapter....Am I studying too long in one sitting? What? Please! Anything you can tell me to help me study better would be a life saver. I have Med-Surg finals coming up, and I need to be sharp & kick ass.
@NurseBass
@NurseBass 8 лет назад
+Jashonda Suber I would highly recommend this video from Nurse Nacole. It's super phenomenal in breaking down exactly how to weed out that bullcrap "filler information" that those textbooks are chock-full of and get right down to the nitty gritty, need-to-know information. I really hope you find it helpful and good luck to you on your Finals! Also, I would recommend studying one topic at a time, for as long as it takes. And THEN take a break, maybe 30 minutes. I wouldn't study for longer than 2 hours in a sitting. That's what works for me anyways. Here is her video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dPaL1aKFapw.html
