I watched this video last year because I am afraid of medsurg with 14 units. Now, I am back telling you that I got an A! I got 98 final grade on MedSurg hahaha hope everyone can get an A too. Fighting future nurses!
After using uworld twice and failing, I never knew I could ever pass the nclex but today I am very happy. I just passed my Nclex on my third attempt with a great help from Dr Luther
Can u do a google doc view only on how u did ur study guide and maybe link it ... I wanna see if ... if it’s possible Thank you I take med surg 1 spring 2020
Starting Med Surg I on the 10th. I hear that this class is tough.. but I’m definitely going to take your tips. Appreciate all that you do for your subs.
Honestly, as disappointing as it is the book will teach you more sometimes and there may be more classes where you find yourself having to teach yourself. Its sad but true.
For me, it took me a while to figure out how to study. I have to TEACH the content. Reason is because as a nurse, one of our roles is an educator. We have to educate our patients. I applied the teaching concept to my studying. I write my notes the way I would write a “lesson plan” and I automatically understand the information and teach the information to my study group. I did this and passed Pharmacology. Doing the same for my Fundamentals retake this fall. Thinking about doing concept maps for Med-Surg
@@justinejulien117 The “lesson plans” are in a style of concept maps. Then I get with my study groups and we talked about what we studied and whatever we didn’t know, the other person would educate us on it lol.
I didn’t do so well on my first med Surg exam , but I’m coming back harder than ever !! Where did you go to take practice questions? Our next exam is over Respiratory
Yessss, you're ready to bounce back! If you have already taken the exam I hope you have seen improvements. I use the questions from my Saunders book, ElSevier questions that come with our textbooks, and Kaplan practice questions.
Passive studyding is my thing girl. I dont write at all. I just watch a ton of youtube vidoes. Then the Practice Questions is from Professor D from Nexus Nursing here in youtube.
Great tips !!!! I did a lot of this in undergrad also and i can vouch !!! Looking at the info before is so important ! Because when you get to lecture you can focus on what is most important , like the meat of the potato’s is what i use to say and then application
Hey girl😊💛, new subscriber here! i wish i came across your channel during my fall 2020 semester🥺. as a third semester nursing student who failed Adult Health (Med Surg), you breaking down how you prepared for lecture and how you worked diligently through lecture to highlight and take note of key components or processes your professor focuses on is a great tip!! With my school jus now getting back on campus in August of this year due to COVID, my nursing program decided to cram our adult health content into 1 months worth of us testing and learning new material WEEKLY! 😡 But what I can say now is that this video has given me a new perspective on how to manage my time, work, and studying for med surg which was the class i struggled with most. We also had Maternal Child nursing this semester too but i did well in that class🥴 lol. Thanks again, I know i will come back well prepared for med surg next fall!
Hey new subscriber 💕 I will be applying to my BSN program near fall ! What’s makes med surge hard ?? Everybody complains about it being very hard lol but I want to Ace that class stress free 👌🏾
T kay Hellllloooo, thank you for subscribing 💛 Med Surg is just a lot of content to fit into one class, which is usually why some schools break it up into multiple semesters. There are a lot of topics and so much detail, but the exams aren’t testing you on how much you can memorize, they want you to apply that knowledge and determine the best treatment for your patient. Most answers will be right, but you have to chose the answer that is the most correct.

Update for anyone who cares, I got an A in med surg 2!! Hoping to keep up the streak with my new study techniques in my final semester in med surg 3 🥺❤️
@@gl903 I just graduated!!! I used all the study tips she mentioned in this video. I especially like to play videos or lectures while I'm cleaning so I'm always exposing myself to the content! Good luck!
I’m going to put this to use for my medsurge II class and I’ll check back and let you know how k do on the next exam. I already failed 2 exams. I have to pas the next two.
For practice questions, Kaplan (only because the school already purchased it for us) & Saunders. Oh and in the beginning i was using whichever course's books online qbank through El Sevier.
Can someone please tell me where to find some resources for the practice questions. Even if I have to pay for a book or membership, i'm willing to do that because I do NOT want to take this class twice!
I wish all med surg professors gave concept list or focused reviews, but it’s some that are so hail-bound on doing us how they were treated and I hate it so much.. no guidance whatsoever
Hello I advise you to contact Dr Luther if you are preparing for your nclex be it RN or PN. He is the reason I and my husband are very happy today working as Rns
Back then I don't think I studied daily. Sometimes I'd try to study whenever I had a chance. Around 2- 5 hours. Constant exposure thoughout the weeks and then kicking it into high gear once the exams came.
I'm currently studying now, and I have found some free Mark Klimek audio lectures here on YT and Registered Nurse RN has some free quizzes on her website.
Oh wow which school did you go to.will be taking medsurge 1 fall this year.it is possible to study studying before i start that class. And how did you retain information.
Somedays I do have to work partnerless. ButI have had to learn how to be my own partner. Put myself on a schedule. The hard part is that I don't have anyone to check in with to see if I'm understanding the info unless I'm seeing a tutor.
I don’t read everything it is too much time consuming!! I just go through my book and power points as well as study the instructor how they give their exams. I don’t even do flash cards lol. I hate flash cards. I’ve learn to study effectively
This is going to sound so dumb but how do you know what’s Important to write down during lectures ? Sometimes I can’t keep up with the instructors😩 Any tips are appreciated!!!
I used the Saunders textbook, Kaplan, and the question bank that comes with my other text books on ElSevier. I've also been told that Uworld has a great question bank as well.
Does anyone know how different the Ignatavicius Med Surg textbook editions usually are? My instructor this semester will be teaching from the 10th edition, but I can get the 9th edition for a much better price…
Hello I advise you to contact Dr Luther if you are preparing for your nclex be it RN or PN. He is the reason I and my husband are very happy today working as Rns
I have a couple, If you have the online access code to textbooks on elsevier ( only if your school uses those textbooks) I use those questions . I use questions in my Saunders textbook. And sometimes I do some of the free questions like Registered Nurse RN gives
Thanks for the great tips I love the passive learning concept I too do this but never knew the proper name. I start nursing school next week , I’m so nervous !
It’s easy said than done. To some people, like my self, have difficulties on connecting the dots between lecture PowerPoint, and book chapters reading info with exams that I’ve been told is based NCLX questionnaire style. Every time I take exams or practice questions I feel like I’ve been reading for nothing because I don’t see any connections between exam and lecture 🥺🥺… I just feel like I should study directly on how questions and answers works with NCLX rather than wasting my time reading and trying to understand the lectures… 😞😞😞…. I’m on my second semester for MDC1… and I still have hard time connecting the meaning of the questions to “where in the book is that info?” type of thing… but I’ll try your way of suggestions… hope I won’t feel like that on my 2nd exam next week…
@@valenciafranklin2037hey yeah it does and they use them as end of each class ATI exam and is 20% of class total grade!! So if we get below level 2 our grade drops way down… ughh… can’t wait to be over w it
