Marie-Anne- I did it!! I finally found my red lipstick!! I have searched year after year and had given up, but YOU inspired me to try again. I found a cosmetic sales lady my age and she helped me. In fact, she showed me two that weren’t even the brand she sells but she thought they would be perfect for me, and she was right! I was really out of my comfort zone the first day I wore it but everyone kept complementing how I looked that day and most had no idea what the change was. I feel so chic and I’m happy to say that Coco Chanel was right after all! Thank you thank you thank you for inspiring me!

Enjoyed this video especially since navy is the core neutral in my wardrobe. I'm always on the lookout for adding multi-coloured scarves and jackets that contain navy as linking elements similar to your choices. Another elegant colour to wear with navy is burgundy especially in the winter (footwear, belts and handbags). Accents of teal or aqua can be nice if it suits one's colouring.

I had "forgotten" about this color, really! I went out and bought a soft, fuzzy and very slim fitting navy blue turtleneck sweater. The amount of compliments I received was amazing! I felt so elegant in it, and the color did fabulous things for my complexion and eyes. Thank you for reminding me about this overlooked shade.

Oh you have two dogs.....I know Coco and what is the other ones name is....my little dog Teddy died just before Christmas and we are heartbroken. He was 15 1/2 years old.

Marie-Anne, I have a plan now! Navy was always my favourite with white or red. As the years have gone by (I'm now 57) my wardrobe has lost its way. Now my aim is to invest in some "key" pieces in navy. I also love the idea of a journal to help my thought process, something I shall also aim to do. My style journey has started Marie-Anne. I've had to wear navy blue for most of my nursing career. With my pale skin, dark hair and some red lipstick it looks polished and suits me but omg because I wear it professionally I rarely buy it for regular clothes. Maybe I'll have to rethink this.

Navy blue also looks beautiful with turquoise, aqua, light green, apple green, light pink, fuchsia, bright or pale yellow, orange, gold, silver, burgundy, tan, cognac, rust, white, cream, ecru... it never ends :)

I used to wear dark blue as my base color in spring and summer, and would retire it in favor of black/charcoal for autumn and winter. But lately, I've been adding a lot of deep blue to my "cold season" wardrobe and finding that it looks just as beautiful--and a touch more interesting--than my default black. Also, instead of wearing black to evening gala events, I've been favoring ink blue, sapphire, saturated indigo, and navy. I like how it keeps the mystery and formality without being too harsh against my skin. Did I hear you say, "I don't wear yellow"? Me either! I find the color so happy and energizing, but most shades of yellow don't suit me. I do have, however, a beautiful sunflower yellow crossbody bag that I love and use as an accent piece--very far away from my face!

I have light olive coloring and golden yellows don’t flatter me, however, the cool yellows do work, like lemon yellow. Maybe that would work for you, too!

I felt happy and energized when I wore it, yet that's the last time I remember liking myself in yellow. Perhaps "my" yellow is still out there, waiting for me to discover it.

I so agree, Marie-Anne, about not looking ‘frumpy’! Above all, going out and about should be about enjoyment. And we should all dress for it...even if we are only running errands or attending appointments. Navy is one of my preferred colors. So versatile! And all your outfits look terrific.

I've just bought a navy blazer and I'm delighted with it. I'll be wearing it both smart and casual. It will need a very small adjustment to the length of the sleeves, but I can do that myself quite easily. I'll be able to wear so much with it, I'm so excited! 😁

I have a pair of bright yellow pumps that are a fun “pop” with navy! I dont wear them often because they are so noticeable but they are different, unexpected and so cute for a change now and then. BTW - you look young and adorable in your new cap!

I've loved navy blue since I was in my 20's. To me, it is so classy. It was hard to find in the USA for quite a few years. I was so happy when I could find it again! I wear navy with burgundy in the winter and navy with red in summer.

This is so true that navy was very hard to find in the US, even for decades! I always loved it as a child and picked up something navy when I would find it in those scarce years, or resorted to buying navy cashmere in the mens dept.

While black is my ‘go to’ neutral, navy has always been a close second when I can find it, especially now that my hair is more salt than pepper. I can wear red, pink, peacock blue, grey and white with either so that makes my existing wardrobe pieces go farther. Marie Anne I love hearing your thoughts and seeing your outfit combinations. I absolutely adore your cap and I’d love one! I have a similar one in teal. I love navy and red on you, but only a cool red on me. Rose pink is better for me, or pale blue. At the moment I am wearing dark blue jeans with teal top and cardigan and brown shoes, necklace and earrings. I love the leather jacket with the navy silk; it’s a delicious combination. One of my favorite colors is navy blue. Brown shoes and belt are my choice when wearing it along with white, ivory, cream and beige or camel and light gray or light blue. I don’t wear lots of red but eventually I wear navy blue jeans, a white shirt or sweater and a red jacket. It looks beautiful and joyful. Orange looks very nice with navy but is not a color I wear. Well, you've done it once again, Marie-Anne....so many wonderful examples. Choosing my favorite is difficult. Oh!, that "unexpected element" of the red belt (at first I thought it was pink), beautiful! The red scarf is still one of my favorite items you have. I'd love to have it, too. Marie-Anne, Thank you -- this is such a great video. I'm wondering if a 'classic' denim jean jacket (not distressed!) has a place in a French chic wardrobe? I have both blue and true black denim jackets that look great for casual chic occasions. I've been known to wear them with silk & cotton blouses, pearls , trousers, skirts & jeans. I find them very versatile and occasionally substitute them for a blazer -- When I do, I receive complements on my "look". When done tastefully, it is a very youthful look on an 'older' woman! I haven't seen you in a denim jacket or maybe I've missed it -- is it part of a French wardrobe? Thanks again, you're such a good teacher.

I really like the navy blouse. I wish I could afford to buy it now before it’s sold out. I like the combo with the red belt. And with the red wrap. Funny story, I was visiting my 89 year old mother at Christmas time and was getting a coat to take her out and she said she wanted her red wrap. I said I didn’t know you had one but are you sure you will be warm enough? She said it’s very warm. And she really looked sharp in it contrasting against her white hair. It was very stylish on you too. And I can envision it in a burgundy color too. I can’t get used to the boot cut pants yet. But they look sharp on you.

I loved black when l was younger but as l am aging l find black is too harsh a colour for my skin tone. Due to this l have become a navy girl. Another fab video Thank you Marie-Anne

Navy blue is such a universal color. I cannot take black because it wears me and makes me look like I'm going t my own funeral but I have bought many navy items of clothing lately. I love it with olive green.Your video here is great, one of my faves.I find navy blue such a great color basic for building a workable wardrobe.

Thank you for this very informative video! I recently rearranged my closet after seeing one of your other videos. I’m new here so still catching up. I immediately started seeing new combinations of clothes to wear and where I need to build up my wardrobe, next project is to declutter. I love navy blue and all your combinations (love the cap!) I wish we had more seasons in Southern California to wear beautiful coats but now I’m inspired to add a quality navy blue peacoat and jacket to my list, merci! Paris was one of our favorite places to travel to in 2001-2009 and wish I knew what to wear then in my late 30’s to 40’s. I looked like the typical tourist! I’m sure I showed up in someone’s photo of what not to wear in Paris! 🤭 As you said, we change as we age. I’m loving the classic, timeless look.

Marie-Anne, I loved you video. Navy has always been a staple in my wardrobe, especially now with my casual clothes. I really like pairing it with rust in the fall. You might remember that the reason I started following you is to figure our why Parisians looked so well-dressed all the time last fall, and you reminded me of the wraps. Most women, no matter their age, were wearing some kind of large wraps around their necks. They always looked so good, and warm! Thank you!

I loved your tips for how to wear navy. Navy is also a color I've always loved, too!! I'm a bit in shock because I thought that the French color of choice was black. I didn't know that navy was the preferred color. Although, I always wondered about that. I noticed French people wearing lots of navy, white, and red in books I read about France. I suppose that in the U.S. fashion designers have pushed black on us as being authentic French. We were always told that French women wore Chanel, too. I'm very glad to get the right information straight from the horse's mouth!!

I loved all the outfits. I was surprised how good the green jacket looked next to the navy blouse. I really enjoy your videos Marie_Anne. I have been interested in style all my adult life. I love jackets and bags in particular. I find it difficult finding shoes that don't hurt my arches. Your new hat is gorgeous. You suit it.

Hi Marie-Anne, I like all the outfits except for the silk blouse with the dark brown leather jacket. For me it is too much of a contrast in styles & I don't think the colours go well together.

I just love navy!! I just bought a sweater in navy and a bunch of silk scarves and I love mixing and matching and also some loafers in different colors. By the way, I love your cap! I just found a really cute plaid beret for the winter! I love berets and used to wear them for many years. I’m finally finding my style again that is comfortable and really chic and elegant. 👌🏼😍

Favorites are the 1st red silk scarf and the green wool jacket. I have been remembering some items I had as a child and a favorite was a spring green simple dress with wide navy trim. I visited my older sister at her college and felt so stylish. I remembered that dress when you showed your light green skirt.

I love lighter bright navy like your silk shirt, but my go to neutral is mid-grey for tailored items. I find it much more versatile. For me, navy always signifies formality (except in a pair of Jeans).

Merci. I love navy more than black. With my colouring I feel that navy looks better. However, where I live in Canada navy is not always the " in " colour and is very difficult to find. It has been in for the last couple of years so I'm trying to stock up before navy goes out. Did you buy your red wrap from Parkhurst in Canada? I love it and the red shoes.

Oh, Marie-Anne I am so glad to see this. (Been out of pocket for a few weeks and catching up on your videos). Anyway, I decided last year to add navy to my wardrobe and was needing ideas. I love the green with it. AND the red! This weekend I look forward to going 'shopping' in my closet to see how to work with my new navy-s. Blessings!
