Terrific video! I’m a former folk music DJ at a college radio station, and folk DJs today still think the same way as college DJs. My DJ stint ended over 20 years ago, and I’m 62, and I’m now learning to market my own music. I also liked the reference to Chris Paul as I live in the Phoenix area!

It’s a new era. Artist don’t spend time making albums. Almost every artist do single drops. Making the criteria have to be it needs to be an album is far fetched for new artist who normally use college radio to push their music to build their brand
Why are college radio stations more favorable to albums as opposed to singles? Doesn’t a single serve the same purpose as a focus track? I appreciate the info, great video! The album vs. single submission is the only part I’m confused about.
sorry for the late response - it’s hard to say just be creative. Long albums are common now but setting yourself apart from the crowd and doing a short album is good.
College stations still operate like music libraries so they take the whole album in and recommend that labels and artists identify which songs are the singles on the one sheet. Ultimately DJs will take singles but you need to build relationships with the DJs to take the singles, but this video is for you to submit to the Music Director for regular rotation. DJs don’t always put your songs in regular rotation.
Okay do you have to do an album in order for them to listen ? Does it depend on the college radio? I really want to send one single off I’m not trying to do an whole EP when I’m a upcoming artist.
I think blogs want exclusives sometimes so before could help, but it doesn’t really make that much of a difference. College radio wants the product when it’s ready to be sold
Sometimes you can send singles to individual DJs, but not the whole station most of the time. Some stations may take singles digitally. It always depends
