Dubias breed like roaches. They are cool. However, my pet bullfrogs ate all of them. They went crazy eating dubias. a few babies will quickly restore them.

uummmm... making me hungry. Roach chow? ... the ground up roaches who outlived their frisky days but are very tasty and nutritious for the younger whipper snappers? I understand roaches are high in protein and some folks in some countries consider them a healthy treat for themselves believe it or not. 😲 Interesting to see what's involved in the process. Nice video.

No ground up roaches in the chow lol! Dubia roaches are the best soft shelled roach for reptiles! I do know people eat insects, but that is a big no for us😂

Can you put Isopods and Springtails in the container to clean up the roach poop

Hi, Thank you for your comment. Well we have seen and read about some people having bioactive dubia roach colonies and have heard mixed reviews. It always comes down to personal experience. Some people use tree bark instead of egg crate and slower roaming isopods. I would definitely do the research on the species because some might be more aggressive than others. I don't think for us it would work because we have to sort and change out stuff every so often. We do have a colony of glowspots and halloween hissers that we might consider but again some people say the babies are always competing with the springtails and isopods. If you do experiment, we would love to hear about your experience.

Thank for for the tip about the oranges, cuz my dubias are not making babies. I have them set up like every else.

Oranges really help, but also take a look at the temperatures. They can't feel cold or nothing will happen.

How many Dubias do those totes house? Just wondering what size would be a good colony for those size totes without overcrowding. Thanks so much! :)

We have one colony in an 18 gallon bin that houses approximately 250 adults with a few hundred different sized nymphs. It is still not over crowded. They enjoy being together!

Overcrowding for roaches is pretty much impossible. As long as food, moisture and some air to breathe is given, they'll thrive. Only thing you can have is too many males. Adult males tend to fight a lot if they're not outnumbered by females by at least 2:1

What size are those totes? How many gallons?
@mightydubiafeeders
@mightydubiafeeders Год назад
We have some 18-20 and some much bigger. You probably will want nothing smaller than an 18 gallon to be able to provide a hot side and a cool side for temperature gradient. Too small then you're basically creating an oven and they can't thermoregulate. That should provide plenty of space for a thriving colony.

Too bad your adult females are out of stock. Lol. I was looking at buying. It's the last piece of the colony I have going is for a group of adults. Anyway, hope you are having a wonderful start to your year!

Hey Drew, we will have some real soon!! How many do you need? We will notify you. Thanks for visiting. 🦎

@@mightydubiafeeders I'm not sure honestly. How much would it be to say get 50 females and 10 males? Also, how long until after molt do you guys sell your adults?
@mightydubiafeeders
@mightydubiafeeders Год назад
@@bethstinycritters Hi Drew, typically Dubias emerge as adults at around 5 months. About a week after emerging as adults is when the females will start mating. (as opposed to the males who can start right away). When we have them in stock this is the time frame that we prefer to get them to our customers. Subscribe on our website www.mightydubiafeeders.com and we can notify you when we have some available. Thank you.
