I've been suping for a long time and teaching my dog to eventually join me from young age. We been on lakes, rivers sea... So I would say I have some knowledge. The video is great for beginners but there is something I just can't ignore. Please never clip your dog to you. Anything can happen the dog can jump down you can fall and you will take the other one to the water. Thats huge drowning risk. Especially for the dog the leash is really short if you fall down the dog will fall on you without expecting it it's not great. If the dog jumps down you will fall on him and surprise him humans have a lot of weight and it also pretty bad for the dog. He will not understand what's happening in the water. Otherwise great video. Wish I had something like this when I started. Keep up the good work. One skill that I also find really important is getting your dog on the sup in the middle of the water by pulling him up by the west, you know in the stand up or kneeling position and getting your dog up from the water when you are also in the water both in water where you can Stan on the bottom and can't. It's a little tricky but I just catch the bord with one hand and kinda push my dog with the other hand and my shoulder up but she is 35 pound border collie it might not work for a bigger dog.
I have a collie/aussie … the bearding breeds really really chill out when their owner is all theirs and disconnected from the hustle and bustle of everything in the busy world :)
We took our 50 lb Aussie paddle boarding for the first time today. He did phenomenally. He whined a bit because he anxious, but otherwise, he just laid on the board and hung out. It was so fun having him out there with us.
Thank you for this video! I’ve been paddleboarding for a couple of years but felt like my two older dogs wouldn’t enjoy being on my SUP. They both passed to Rainbow Bridge and I have a 2-year-old pup that I’m hoping to get out on the water soon. Thanks!
My Lab will sit on the boat during the boring slack water. But when we come to rapids he jumps in and swims the rapids. Or he just doesnt trust me, LOL
