TIP: Cut the ice packs open and pour the liquid into 2 liter plastic cola bottles. (The liquid is harmless). Then just freeze the bottles and pop them into your cooler when you’re ready to go. Once you’re home, a quick rinse and back into the freezer until next trip. No leaks, no mess! I fish 2-3 days a week, and been using the same two bottles for two years now. Never buy ice! THANKS for a great video!
Cheers for the tip, am only 5 minutes into the video, already on the marketplace looking at costs involved, will be a few years till I get us one, only got 4 rods/reels, so backpack most of it or modify a plastic shopping trolley to grind off the garbage and maybe apply some kind of motor to it with a remote control, where there is a will, there is a way!! a way will make itself known when we are ready. I am happy to catch and release, only keeping dinner plate sized fish for dinner that night!
After 10 years of drooling, I finally splurged on an Alumacart Big Kahuna last week. Assembly went great, first trip out was fair enough. Your video touched on a lot of issues I had... no spike holders, yeti cooler is heavy, might want to add a push handle (wife can steer in front, I push in back), bought ice instead of reusable packs, need a sand flea rake solution. Long story short, whether you buy a budget or premium cart, this video has very solid recommendations to improve anyone's surf fishing cart experience. Great video, thank you!
Quite a setup. I’ve been slowly making changes to my cart just added 4 wheels. I’m retired and on a limited income so can’t afford your level of customization but I’ve done a lot on my own to make it suit my needs. I actually made my own rod holders with pvc pipe and attached aluminum rods to them to make them easy to put into sand. Look forward to see your fishing videos this spring
I second the fact that wheelez wheels are a game changer. I bought a wheelez beach cart after years of trying other brands and I wish I would have done it sooner.
Enjoyed watching your video. I found it to be very informative. I recently purchased a beach cart ( 1st time) , and you taught me a lot i never though of , Thank You . Great Job !! Keep it up .👍🖖 as Spock would say .🤤
Great information . I am starting out with a bone stock Fish N n Mate Jr cart that fits into the back of my smaller SUV. I can see some mods coming for sure, one step at a time
Bryan’s work is top notch! Everything he does is great. Love me some hook’d fabrication as well. I have the fish n mate push handle, however still gonna get Brian to make me one here soon. If he’s down to course lol. If you don’t mind I’m gonna have to steal your rod holder extensions, that’s one of my biggest pet peeves is my rods flying around in my cart
love this one. Scored a cart on marketplace and have been looking for ways to improve it. That under carry for chairs with the custom riser looks like a game changer! I really want to get a bike hitch for my cart
Definetly looking into a kayak trailer or something similar as I am not walking back to the car 3-4 times, Very interesting video, already looking on Facebook market place, wonder what kind of RC motor would be needed to haul a beginners fishing trailer and all the goodies. Only a BIG pay rise would get me a descent 4wd and trailer, to help Everyone get the stuff to where ever they are going to! Kindness of the type will help you in the future! Putting together a LARGE collection of videos for me and the wife to watch together so she understands why/what/how and all the rest of it. COOL TYRES on the advanced one, will be looking for kick ass tires for the beginner one, anyone sits on it? Walks home! Cheers from Australia
Sweet setup! I've been waiting to see this video since you first mentioned it. I have a fish n mate sr with the orange poly wheels that I'm looking to beef up for this year. It's been great, but I want to make it better. Especially when my kids come with me. Now I have some ideas. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to the 20k giveaway. I would love to use the tackle bag and give DS custom tackle a shot.
Thanks Ryan! I think you may have comment wanting to see the cart vid awhile back. Yea hope this helps man. And the sooner we get to 20k the sooner we will find a winner. Appreciate the comments and watching the video.
I don’t really do the violent stuff on camera because a lot of kids watch the show. But basically as quickly as I can I fill the bucket then cut the fish through his gills and let him swim in the bucket till it bleeds out then put it on ice before the water gets warm. Another method people did is called iki jime it’s a Japanese method to get the high quality fresh fish. It’s a more complicated process but that’s what they do to get the highest grade sushi level fish.
I’ve been working on my surf rod setups, I’ve got a 5500 spin fisher myself, what rods did you pair yours with, I feel my rod I use currently doesn’t pair well. Thanks, what a great video man!
Another great teaching video Jessie. I've clicked on so many videos which claim to be informative or teaching and it's more of "hey watch me catch all these fish". I ordered a rig bag from Florida Surf Tackle, I am going to use it while I am still in Florida and use it back home to store my walleye worm harnesses. Do you know if they sell extra the envelope/pages ? Thanks again for a great video, tight lines bro!
What are you using for the axels? It looks like heavy tubing instead of the solid aluminum ones everyone sells. I just got my first set of balloon tires and waiting on second to arrive and need axel ideas.
Look up surf fishing solutions out of Jacksonville Florida on Facebook he did all this work for me and I believe you’re right it’s solid axels. He will know what tires you have and what size axles you need and the kit to install them
What a great video!! About the rod/reel combo. Do you feel you loose any casting distance over conventional reels? Do you need some kind of finger protection while casting? After the cast do you just set the bait runner and that’s enough to get and see the bite? And then turn off bait runner to fight the fish? I LOVE that idea!
Great video, love your cart design, I have design or say I customize my cart to fit my fishing needs, everybody that see it, either want one or want me to customize there's, and they tell me that I should go in the customize cart business, for those who have seen it love it ,and I think if you did u would to, I have definitely changed the fishing 🎣 cart game, until then, it's only one ,,welcoming the fishing panhandle community to the Mercedes fishing Cart,, 🎣😀,, Stay Safe God Bless,,
A better solution to the rod holder extensions would be to not heat them, but leave them flush and put on a Fernco hub fitting (plumbing section Home Depot), and use a utility knife to cut a notch to hold the reel stem. Same exact thing that is what is on your sand spikes. This prevents the rod from twisting and flopping even more. Use them on my cooler rack on the beach buggy. Work great for intended use. You can also mount quick fists on the cart to carry the spikes & rake. For storage, Tackle Webs makes nylon sleeves to hold plano boxes, and attaches to the side of the cooler. Now for the gorilla in the room; the sputnik weights... Terrible, as I have used multiple variations of them, and all they do is catch sea weed, when its prevalent. Pyramid is the ay to go, but no way 4 sided pyramids. The 3 sided pyramids are a much better option. They will not catch any cross current, as they flat on one side, and are sloped to deflect the current.
@@SlotCityFishing Awesome thanks, its a lot of money and I have never seen anyone using a four wheel cart except for the easy access places without large dunes.
It’s all custom and depends on what you ask for look up surf fishing solutions on Facebook Mr Bryan curlett. Prob all said and done with the wheels like $1500
@@SlotCityFishing thanks response. looking to retrofit fish n mate sr. what do find is n9rmal hotel door width. like your idea of bringing in cart at night if traveling
