Two things I thought you maybe should add. (1) Investigate breaks you want to surf at extreme low tide, walk out and get a good view of what's out there. (2) Some breaks are covered with colonies of razor sharp mussels, coral and/or nasty urchins - you don't want to peel all the flesh of your legs or back -so make sure you know what you are landing on if you crash.

Man I’ve been wanting to surf there but my parents won’t let me because of the rocks 😫(they think it’s to dangerous for me🙄). I hope you’ve had fun at least. Specific spot you like along there? (if you can say)

That's cool man. Usually surfing OB but i want to go more south and surf sunset cliffs but I'm terrified of hitting the reef / rocks / cliffs. Any advices?

@@thibaultschoenfelder4962 honestly sunset cliffs isn't that bad, just go at high tide the first few times. The paddle out can be tricky, but I wasn't that concerned about the shallows where the waves were actually breaking. I moved from SD to Okinawa and now I'm used to surfing some seriously shallow reefs. Definitely miss SD though

can you make a video on how to get off the wave with your board, so that you can paddle back out as fast as possible without having to pull your leash and having to get back on? because I always do the pancake jump and I want to start getting off the waves like pros. can you make a video about that? thanks!!!!!

That long paddle out reminded me of some of the spots in Maui. Takes forever, but good form and patience totally pays off.

I know that spot well (which shall go unnamed) and first surfed it around 1980! (almost a secret spot back then with 1.5km walk-in access only). Had many amazing, fantastic memorable days surfing that break. Often had it to ourselves. I always found the bigger it was, the safer it was, as far as avoiding rocks. cheers

😣heavy ding, I feel your pain, I put a hole in my wetty last week at triggs. Stoked u scored it for the first time, I've not surfed it. Always felt too sketchy to paddle out on my own. That's a good tip about not surfing reef breaks alone.🤙

Considering the current that sweeps through this joint, it's always a paddle fest just to stay in the lineup. All in all, not a bad option when all nearby spots are blown out.

This video is really helpful, thanks 🤙 Reminds me when I was in Kauai (on my honeymoon) going on literally ‘1 of water and lava rock. I caught some fun corners but ended up catching my back fin on a rock and went tumbling after on the rocks, which weren’t too sharp thank God.
