Many special forces units around the world have rigorous selection processes, but some are considered to be among the toughest. Here are a few examples: The United States Navy SEALs are known for their intense training and selection process, which includes a series of physical and mental challenges designed to push candidates to their limits. The United Kingdom's Special Air Service (SAS) also has a challenging selection process, which includes a fitness test, a navigation exercise, and a series of interviews. The Russian Spetsnaz are considered to be some of the most elite special forces units in the world. Their selection process is said to be extremely difficult and includes intense physical and psychological tests. The Indian Army's Para SF is known for its rigorous selection process, which includes a series of physical and mental challenges, as well as a series of interviews. The Australian SASR (Special Air Service Regiment) has a rigorous selection process, which includes a series of physical and mental challenges, as well as a series of interviews. It's worth noting that the selection process for special forces units can vary depending on the country and specific unit, and the information available about these processes may not be entirely accurate. Additionally, the selection process can change over time as the requirements and expectations of the unit may change. ------ I keep reading SAS/SBS. Lets be clear SBS/SAS are Tier 1, right off the bat. You make it, you are a Tier 1 op. US Army SF, Navy SEALs, Marine Force Recon , Air Force PJs, US Army Rangers are Tier 2. US Delta, and SEAL Team 6 are Tier 1 and they are every bit as good as their SAS/SBS brethren. However, to be SEAL Team 6 you have to be selected from a SEAL Team which also means you have to be a qualified SEAL. Delta is different , anyone from any service can try out for them , making them much more diverse. You don’t have to be SF, Ranger, SEAL, etc to make it and the training is much more difficult then then the others mentioned. Delta is supposed to be the creme of the crop for all services … in theory … with that said , look at the German SF, South African SF, Gurkhas , the Legion. With all that said, they are all based off the SAS. ----- I know this answer will seem ridiculous but it’s whichever one you find yourself in at the time. Every elite military selection is incredibly demanding and takes supreme effort of will to complete. You probably have read of SEAL training ( because it seems Team guys these days write a book every 10 seconds ) and of course they are saying it’s the most demanding, grueling, blah, blah, blah. They are correct in that it is demanding and grueling blah, blah, blah, but so is SFAS, RIP, Pararescue, Marine Force Recon, SAS, Australian SASR, Polish GROM, Delta and DEVGRU. The point is, these are very prideful men who have accomplished something truly special and most tend toward “my selection was harder than yours” out of a competitive spirit. I actually had a guy ( I won't say who or from what SOF branch ) actually tell me that in his selection they would beat them with wooden rods and subject them to electric shock to “toughen them up”. Speaking with another member of his unit ( a much more level headed individual who went on to one of the penultimate of U.S. special operations units at JSOC ), assured me that this NEVER happened. His exact words were, “If your Ferrari didn’t start that morning, would you break it into pieces?”. The point is all of these guys are top flight operators but are of course partial to their torturous path to whatever unit they sacrificed for. Basically, it becomes a SOF dick measuring contest.

It's all subjective. A tough challenge isn't only physical, it's also mental and depending on the steep learning curve. For instance, Green Berets need to learn a foreign language or learn a certain skill to the max, that can be seen as a tough challenge as well. Everything in this realm is a tough challenge, so indeed I would not like to make this a d*** measuring contest. Thanks for your extensive comment!

@@the-spy-network s f are the cream of the crop , physically and intellectually . Rambo could have avoided much of his problems by verbal communication . This makes me think of Bo Gritz , a very persuasive gentleman , knowing he was full of crap , He still had a way ...
