I thought the same and so looked into it... found that Assault Vests don't offer any bullet/ballistic protection, they're just there to provide extra storage slots. So really you need to stick to one of these 3 for actual protection: Stab Vest, Ballistic (Press) Vest, or Plate Carrier Vest.
@@andytaylor1617 I keep getting conflicting answers on whether or not tactical vests offer any protection. Some sources say they're equivalent to stsb vests, others say they offer none at all.
This is brilliant thanks for sharing, tough luck looked to be in a good place. Have played a few times as a absolute beginner and died bleeding out. First task find bandages and learn how to fight zombies.
Because they're just dead weight. If the vest doesn't provide ballistic protection, then it just weighs me down and urges me to hold more loot than I need lol
I have a few thousand hrs playing DatZ and I will say this is one of the best videos I've seen as far as explaining to new players as freshies getting off the coast. well done Keep up the great work! heck yeah I'll sub
@@Edge1775 he's going for it bro. He packed In his job to go fulltime streaming. Its his childhood dream. He's an honest dude. Great content especially for beginners. Easy to understand and simple.
Please make more walkthrough videos like this! A friend and I are just getting into the game and have only been playing for a few days, and these videos are really helpful. The hardest thing about the game for me is navigating the map and where to go to get the best loot, and also crafting. There are so many little details in the game that I would love to learn more about
Those "hardest thing"s will be your meat and potatoes once you get the hang of it. With some hard-won experience under your belt, you will be doing those things without really thinking about them. I figger I can do it in about 10 years of daily playing. (I'm old and can't remember my name sometimes, at least that is what my son, ol' Whats-his-name, tells me.)
One of the best ways to learn is to watch experience play and explain. And this right here is exact what you are doing, and I must say this one of the BEST videos I’ve ever seen. I just started playing yesterday. Yup I’m a late as hell newbie. But, I just got done playing about 3 hours without dying. The night time is where I get screwed.
Finding something to do while night passes is the best thing to try. Save meat for cooking, go fishing, organize your loot...etc Also, I appreciate the very kind words :)
Thanks, great videos man. Another thing is trying to get a feel as of where I’m at. I was actually at this exact town last night almost got the the exact load out as you too. I have IZurvive. But I still can’t get my bearings. Thanks.
As you pass landmarks and other recognizable features, check the map real quick. I'm told it's best if you have it on another monitor. Which for me would mean playing on Xbox and using PC monitor for the map. Not optimal for gameplay.@@Billo1281
Can you do a night survival guide? A lot of times playing at night is a bitch. I can't see 5 feet in front of me, I dont want to risk turning my light on because its basically putting a target on my head lol. And players aside, playing at night, its hard to see if I'm walking towards a big group of zombies. They're extremely annoying to deal with at night.
I was discussing with my friend weather or not I should take a cow boy hat over my ballistic helmet and as soon as I went outside I got shot in the head the helmet saved my life and I killed the guy who shot me
I had to double check that I'm not in this video. Yesterday I spotted someone in dark clothes approaching Novy from the north, while I was heading north myself. DayZ makes me feel like I'm a fugitive in a foreign country, like a spy or something.
Yeah, and I like how it is not a scripted lecture. It's more like a pro and a noob jogging along and the pro is sharing his knowledge as different things arise.
new sub, Interesting Game I think I like it. I retired living on a fixed income. Have to save up to buy the game but I think it is worth it.. Good video. Just so you know I've been a gamer every since Pong and I still love playing games in my 60's..
dude is either way lucky or my luck REALLY sucks. I just started playing but I haven't found a weapon WITH a mag yet. Found 3 pristine skorpions, not a single mag or round of ammo, 4 or 5 glocks, no mags...
That is one of the things I find so frustrating in this game. You spend so much time & effort, only to be killed with no interaction. Wouldn't be so bad if you could create a save point so you don't start with nothing again..
I played this game originally back in around 2014 on a crappy laptop, am now diving in on XSX so it's been quite a difficult experience, these videos are better than lists of tips imo
Assault vests are just extra inventory. They offer no ballistic protection-- so I don't want to pick them up and over carry items just to switch the moment I find a stab, press, or plate.
3:04, Yooooooo.... You passed up on swapping out your belt with the zombie's Smersh vest! You do realize the Smersh vest can now be equipped to the belt slot, right? Instant 30 slots of inventory plus attachments for grenades AND a Smersh bag which grants an additional 30 inventory slots! My skin is crawling thinking about passing up such excellent loot.
@@bwad99 I mostly love the Smersh stuff because the inventory stays 100% dry. I keep repair stuff in the vest, and food/medical in the Smersh bag. I also keep my main backpack typically empty, or even forego a main backpack.
FYI zombies immediately despawn when someone leaves an area. If you see a town with no zombies, it's a guarantee there are no players. What happens after YOU arrive and spawn zombies is anyone's guess.
But if you scope the area from far enough away and there's no zombies, then there's less chance than when you get there the zombies were spawned by someone else, right?
This is one of the best How to Videos on Dayz. I started playing 2 weeks ago and in learning the map stage. So you actually showing the path and not cutting the looting helps alot, your verbal explanations are great help also.
I think watching the entire process is important for new players. Most guides that are similar usually just say "loot these POIs" but don't go over much else. So I thought a long form type of walk-through would be beneficial😁
You hit the nail on the head. Most are like "Hungry, kill a chicken, build a fire, cut up the chicken, cook the meat and craft a hook. Now you will never fear starving again. Oh, and by the way, don't forget to wash your hands."@@bwad99
ive got 100 hours, me and my buddy caught some dude with a full gear set and ak baiting low level players into the forest. we ended up crawling across an open field and tracked the player for 2 hours. caught him laying on the ground trying to bait more people. snuck up and got a shot gun to the back of his head. this is the stuff that makes me continue playing this game. lol ended up getting an ka-74 with 5 mags and 120 extra rounds to load. talk about worth
You're an extremely good sport, after all of that work I would have lost my mind lol super helpful though, I think I'm gonna try it out. Thanks for the help!!
This has been an interesting experience. I've spent the last two hours watching your videos to school myself up before jumping in to finally play DayZ. I played a few hours before, but found it to be impenetrable and I just didn't have the time. I learned a lot here, most importantly that I shouldn't play DayZ.
My friend plays this game a lot and he recently introduced it to me. I enjoy this game a lot but I’m really bad at it. But, thanks for making this video because it helped me out a lot!
Also for new players, one thing he missed in this video is try to lure zombies inside when you kill them if you can, I can’t even count how many times I have found snd killed people because they left a trail of dead zombies in the wide open lol
Hey man, your videos are extremely helpful and your calm and informative nature comes across as really endearing. If I might make a suggestion for content, how about a few specific guides on console controls how to build fire where to find medicine etc maybe five to ten minutes long? Anyway I'm subbing and thanks
He said, in one of his videos at least, that he hasn't played on console in years. He would have to relearn the controller to tell you. So, if I were you, I would not hold my breath on this one.
I dont think I underetand this game at all. Ive respawned 5 to 6 times and I still dont understand the game. If I get a scratch, I bleed to death, lol? I dont understand how anyone can like this game.
Your primary task, grasshopper, is to learn this game by repeatedly dying of mistakes and letting evil players with weapons see you. And wrap that wound in sterol bandages. Players who like challenges like this game.
Nice man, stored in my 'watch later' for future reference when I finally reinstall. It's so great to see how popular / health the game is now in 2022 - people making beginner vids in 2022 is testament to that.
RU-vid is throwing random stuff on everyone's recommended list and leaving it there for months at a time. Right now. there are at least a dozen videos on my list recommending various Balder's Gate 3 videos. I have never played BG, I have never watched a video of BG, and I don't intend to as that isn't my kind of game. But RU-vid is pushing the game. Makes me wonder who got paid off. RU-vid or some developer with the access to add a few lines of code to YT selection formula.@@masterson0713
I've had that problem in Fallout 4 for 8 years now and I don't see it going away. But then I make a basic Settlement of 20 Settlers before I turn on the recruitment beacon and you need lots of junk to do that.
Really enjoyed these 2 starting vids. DayZ is intimidating for a new player, but your 2 vids have really helped. Thank you for the well presented great info that doesn't have curse words as the primary language. Sub'd, liked, and turned-on notifications. Will watch some or all of your other videos. Keep up the great work!
ok, Bwad99, i give you three thank you's,... was ready to see if i could get my money back, thought i was a dumb game. HOWEVER, I GOT A COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING NOW, good job explaining the premise, im now fascinated by it, new items keep showing up, found entire fly rod with gear ontop of a factory smoke stack, ...only lasted 4 hours, but it was 3 hours and forty-5 minutes than before i watched your video. (many crazy pshyco people on these servers too) love it, 👍
dude LMAO i killed 2 players at melee range separately one player tried to shoot me with a pistol and i got back behind a door real quick and then i lunged at him with a sledgehammer and aimed and just started spamming YYYYYYYY lmao it killed him and i took his sniper rifle hahhahahhhhahahahhaha this other new spawn was looting my old corpse and idk i guess he didn’t see me at first but then he tried to knife me when i was checking my corpse and i backed out and aimed and spammed YYYYYY i knocked him over and finished it 😂😂😂😂😂😂 that shit was so funny
You're using a mode of navigation called "dead reckoning" which is actually a pretty complex way of understanding where you are. A compass and map can be helpful, but the only time those are superior is when you have no clue where you happen to be.
This game still relevant and being kept ontop of ? Iv tried it once a while ago, bit couldn't do it, I'm just reinstalling it again on the xbox, thinking about really trying to get into it, I watch alot of other people play it and it does look good, I just couldnt get anywere the first time
The Capri pants crack me up I just started playing and it is a hard game lol I die to hunger more then anything Great video Hope you have a great week led
I know one RU-vidr that runs with randoms occasionally, and I've seen him more than once, for no apparent reason except for maybe giggles, shoot them in the back of the head at close range, loot their bodies and go on his way. I haven't watched any of his videos for some time now.
Has my best run today in dayz. Got deep inland with high end gear and had vests the lot. Was prepping to bury stashes and the server rebooted and I lost everything. Then rebooted into a rainy night and got flu straight away.
Hell yeah, I’ve been watching DayZ vids and playing Unturned for years finally got a computer that can handle DayZ and am exited to finally be able to play it myself
I just got back into dayz for a new server what would you recommend for me joining any good servers out there with active administration and medium pop or so?
Pay 50 dollars to play a game that coronus users play? No thanks. Cheaters have ruined every shooter game. You spend hours looting for them to kill you while they are staring at the wall of their bunker under ground. And then they go outside and pick up all the loot you just brought to them.
Some basic guidance of I'm new noob There is no tutorial how to do somthings Like to switch items or to swap items in your hands or the quick access such as 1 2 3 slots .. how to do??
Tutorial, what's that ? ----------------------- Some kind of alien rays engulf the planet, affecting only humans. Some more affected than others. 99% of population gone. You wake up where you can't read anything written. No power anywhere. Buildings basically empty. There is no one you can depend on for anything. Where is the survival tutorial ? Sorry, couldn't resist, even though I knew you were asking about mechanics of the game, not survival advice.
This video was filmed at a time where shotguns were unsuable due to a broken bullet registration for their ammo types-- therefore I don't touch them. I'm very far from new lol
In real life that happens (to lost folks mostly) because one leg is usually longer than the other so long steps are on one side of your body and short steps on the other. I'm talking small fractions of an inch in length difference. I grew up in the desert southwest USA and was warned about that to teach me to keep the house in sight if I wandered off. And if I wandered farther than Mom approved, I usually got spanked all the way home. Of course, I screamed all the way, but it really wasn't so bad cause she was preggers and if she let go of my hand, I could outrun her. But then, if I did that, she would tell Dad when he got home from work, and he could outrun me. I stopped being a runner before I started school.
Well the ending is just characteristic of the average dayz experience. It was fitting imo😂 but yup! Been at it for years. Know Chernarus like the back of my hand🤣
Looks like you have unlimited sprint is this a vanilla community server or are you able to get unlimited sprint in official. I’m dying to overcome the challenge of official but the sprint mechanic ruins my experience
Yeah no. I don't have unlimited sprint. Not sure where you got that idea. This is an official server. I also don't understand what the issue with sprinting in the game is? If you're dying to get over the "challenge", but can't handle not having unlimited sprinting/stamina in a survival game...yikes.
He gets his stamina from carrying light. If you need stamina you need to drop those huge backpacks and lighten your load. I doubt you need 500 rounds for each gun, a dozen 6-packs of bandages or three of everything you consider essential.
Can you in further vids show clips of where you are in your journey on the map? I just started playing very hard to keep up with your location and direction. But love your style brother.
Learning where to go requires tips from others and experience. I found learning the map was easier, for me, to not worry about dying so much and paying attention to what was around me a little farther out. I would jog along and every kilometer or so I would stop and make a couple of 360's looking at the terrain and structures in sight (making yourself a target is not always healthy). Getting killed just let me make the run again to see if I could remember where I was. Early on I preferred moving on the trails (named after colors) to the roads or the railroads for learning the lay of the land. Getting killed or just dying a lot taught me to get what I could get as fast as possible and get out of the spawn point. That took me much longer than a pro since I didn't know where to find what I needed and suffered from the Search Everywhere for Everything Disease. Once I decided I was safe enough I would go thru my inventory with a fine-tooth comb trying to learn what everything I picked up was and what it was good for or how it would benefit me if I kept it. Tossed a lot of good stuff along with junk but not near enough junk.
Field vests offer no ballistic protection and tempt players to hold more loot than necessary . I was hoping to find a stab vest at the gorka PD anyway.
Just returning after a long break, and honestly pretty new to the pc version in general. Thought I'd come check out some refresher vids, which you've helped me tons. I was getting towards the end of this vid, scrolled down to look for the next one for some pvp action thinking to myself.. there is no way he left us hanging like this and then... i hear "aaand I'm dead" lmfao very appropriate. Thanks for the crash course! Even a year later it's still coming in handy
Now that I know you can bury things and make shelters I’ve got a nice set up going on in a forest not far from a road. Found a nice circle sort of, of bushes and angled my shelter so it’s very hard to see if running by. Got some goodies buried around nearby incase anyone finds and kills me I will just go back there and get kitted (granted I find a shovel or pickaxe/farming hoe). Working up the courage to hit an airfield one of these days lol.
@@bwad99 yea man. I remember you saying that in one of your streams. I ran into a base the other day in kehlm. Just had a door and a bunch of posts in place. I thought about dismantling the big door but then was like nah it probably took alot of hours to get to that point lol
@@bwad99 I have a guy going on a community server which isn’t super OP with the loot but I have to have like at least 50hrs with him (is there a way to check how long you’ve been surviving for?) but I don’t know how to build walls and bases yet. Or even fix up a car. I’m just still kind of learning the game.
@@LJT9393 unfortunately there's no way to check your survival time. Gotta track it yourself. As far as basebuilding I recommend looking up a guide, it's a bit too complicated for me to write out in a comment😂
After watching this video, I realized I am one greedy prick lol. I will work on this obsession about picking up every single Duck-Tape and Xmas-Lights I come across.
I just followed the hikers trails and stopped by places to loot along the way. Those maps at the rest spots are so fukin useful. Ive done nothing but follow the trails further inland. Although i only have a Mosin and a Kolt 45 im pretty new so i have no clue what weapons are optimal.
I haven't been playing very long on dayz. I die quite often. It definitely sucks. But I'm still learning how to play. So.. I wish I could have better luck in the game. Always starving, or dieing of thirst, or infected killing me because I can't seem to find a weapon to defend myself from them. Very discouraging, but I keep trying.
