So you said it’s a top risk of SIDS but then talked about why swaddling is okay in terms of asphyxiation. SIDS is always unexplained. So if swaddling is a top risk factor, I’m confused by the promotion of it. Also, the Moro reflex is only stopped by the blanket, it still happens. Therefore, studies have found that it can actually harm the baby similar to how holding down someone who is seizing would harm them.
I had to keep rewinding to hear what she said cause the cute baby kept distracting me 🥰 I’m here cause I’m refreshing my memory for my second baby, but I’ve also sent this to my sister who’s expecting for the first time. Thank you so much for promoting safe sleep! :)
OMG STOP TAPPING ON THE POOR BOY 😂 oh sooo sweet I am looking forward to having my baby in my arms hopefully in 3 weeks maximum.... by the way swaddling is a tradition in my culture, we swaddle at least for the first 40 days !
just wanna say i love and appreciate how you brought up the rules of safe sleep. i feel like not enough videos on youtube advertise the abcs of safe sleep, so i really appreciate this video

Flexing and flowing is so key to this lol I got a zip up swaddle for my baby and I was so excited about it because of how easy it was and she would always break out of the swaddle no matter how well I did it. I used it like 3 times and she hated it because she couldnt get her hand out to suck on her fist lol. With more time and listening to my baby we came to a compromise and I figured out a way to swaddle her with one arm out so she could suck on her fist and she was good. 😂
Thanks so much for the teaching it helps alot. pls can you make a video on how to make a colicky baby sleep nd food to avoid as a breast feeding mum to help a colicky baby .

Yes! I have my son whose 3 weeks old & I change his diaper when he needs it in the middle of night before I feed him so I reswaddle & then feed him in his swaddle! It makes it so easy to put him back to sleep in the middle of the night which means I can get better sleep too!
Thanks so much for this!! Im getting close & was thinking just this morning that Ive got no idea how to do this. All of our classes have been canceled so you truly are our lifesaver!! Thanks ×1million!!

@@halirossi-wilkins9846 that's only if it's too tight and their legs are too straight. Parents need to use common sense (which I know isn't so common).

Hali Rossi-Wilkins my baby is almost 10 months old . We swaddled her while she was a couple months old to feel safe and secure . If she can squeeze through my body she’ll be okay in a wrap . Then we stopped once she could roll over . 💕
Hali Rossi-Wilkins I also never did it too tight . I hated seeing her jerk randomly bc she wasn’t wrapped up and something would scare her . It helped us get alittle extra sleep at the beginning.
Should I be swaddling for naps during the day? I always swaddle at night but not during the day because I was trying to help separate day from night 🤷🏻♀️

Hali Rossi-Wilkins if you’re not about swaddling, don’t watch a swaddling video. There are pros and cons to just about everything. We each decide what is best for our children. You do you and I’ll do me ✌🏻 And as mentioned in the video, we make sure the swaddle is loose on the bottom to allow for plenty of movement at the hip.
I'm going to agree with Brittany. I am learning in so many ways about the importance of the nervous system, but everything has a time and place in my mind. Swaddling has a long history of safe use, some significant benefits in the short term, and when one knows the exercises that can help to integrate retained reflexes, as well as other practices for integration and development, it's a relatively simple fix if your concerned about it in the long run. Also, as valid as your points may be, and as passionate as you feel about spreading the word, there are more appropriate ways to share this information than repeatedly filling the comments. Do you have a channel? A blog? Maybe just a resource you'd like to share once below this video? That's the kind of discussion we love! Tell us more that way!
I'm going to try to use more swaddlers this time because I"m not the best at it and if that can reduce the risk and keep my little man warm I want to try it, blankets freak me out.
I love a basic blanket swaddle (the copper pearl and the bamboo muslin are the best) but man the Love to Dream was the bomb dot com with my #3 .... Daddy's lifesaver 😂🤣😂
Love all your videos Sarah they are so useful...can you pls post a video specific on how to lose weight after labor and delivery? How long should one wait before starting any workouts ?.....thanks.
I'm in the UK and in the hospital one nurse swaddled my baby and showed me how to do it shift change happens and the next nurse comes in and starts shouting at us about swaddling the baby and saying it's so unsafe.
Hey I don't know how to ask a question but here goes. I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant with my third I haven't gained no weight yet I'm at 217 right now. One doctor is worried I'm not gaining weight and the other told me I shouldn't gain no weight. Should I be alarmed. Also I have type 2 diabeties , not sure of that's a big factor or not. Please help. I'm stressing and hopeful for a healthy baby
Yes! My wife and I can’t wait for you to post the video about the newborn sleeping with their eyes open. We have a 3 week old and that was one thing that definitely caught us off guard. Would love to learn more about it.
41 + 1 today! I’m a nanny but you can never have too much education!! I’ve been swaddling a stuffed bunny since none of the kids I care for are small enough to practice🤣 Great vid! Your nephew is a cutie!

So, I was hoping to get some replied in the comments for my question? I've asked on a son of platforms and have gotten a lot of interesting advise. I've had 5 losses, three before my toddler, then twins two months ago, very early. I'm pregnant again, early, and it's so hard to not constantly live in fear rather than enjoy the process... Any advise on how to combat that? :) Side note, my husband was the beeessttt at swaddling out daughter when she was born, better than a few of the nurses lol. He's also a stationery engineer, very detailed oriented haha.
Hi Valerie It sounds like you have some sort of PTSD or anxiety. You can try relaxation/meditation or seeing a certified therapist. I personally really liked utilizing HypnoBirthing which is a whole ideology but includes a lot of going through your anxieties and trying to let them go in various ways.

The population and "professionals" at large will never agree on anything when regards to infant rearing (unless it's obviously dangerous). So, a parent really has to choose their own battles.
