Two points: one is that hasamibako means "luggage chest". This is a chest carried on your shoulder with a long pole. Hasami also means "scissors". The way hasamibako came from hasami is that a long time ago they would split a bamboo pole, put their clothing between the strips to hold them, tie it, and carry it over their shoulder as one does with the hasamibako. That's why Fujibayashi called it a shinobi bune, it's hidden in an ordinary luggage chest. The other point is that I believe the flipper sandals were meant to be used left and right at the same time. When the flipper is folded in, the foot can move in a way that generates thrust, and at the same time the other flipper is folded out, scooping the water. When I tried the mizukaki, I noticed that if only one foot is thrusting, you simply spin around in the water. It takes practice but the flippers can both thrust at the same time, moving you forward. Great video Antony!

Thanks for that additional explanation! Its always best to hear these little tricks of what works and what doesn’t by people who actually tried it out!

The water spider at 7:50 I can see be updated with a hefty trash bag to make an even more portable boat... hmm... oh the awesome things they'd come up with today.

There's a spelling mistake in the thumbnail. It should be "Ninja Wayer Tools."

Yeah, I'm surprised that the mizugumo misconception still persist. Just by using the tool it becomes obvious that it's a life belt and not a type of shoe.

The jar boat I have seen the use of large turtle shells (not joking lol) instead of jars used in same fashion, but with bamboo staves.

Another excellent video Antony looking forward to more A question about the floating bridge would this be used by a Shinobi team only since it would be necessary for one to swim across and hammer in the spikes or the other bank or could it be thrown and have the spikes dig in if the ground were soft enough. Great artwork also

How would a Shinobi install the floating bridge? One side of the creek one would hammer in the iron stakes, but how would you do so on the opposite bank? Seems someone would need to be on the opposite bank already or swim across...but if working alone neither make sense. Even if working in a group having one member swim across might not be a great idea.

@@AntonyCummins well that makes sense, but I'd hate to be the wet ninja 😂 Unfortunately I was hoping for a cool trick to get the bridge across without someone taking a swim, but it's still a fascinating variety of tools. Thank you
