hi i own a 2013 model air 13 and i want to ask if i will be able to replace the motherboard with the processor of someone with a new model such as 2018-2019
Thanks for sharing this content. I did not follow your instructions (I followed iFixit) and while trying to disconnect the battery cable I broke the logic board connectors, now the laptop works but as a Desktop not as a Laptop. Do you know if it's possible to resolder the battery cable to have a laptop again?
Thanks for the video. I have a broken screen on model A1989 13.3" 2019. Is this the same screen as the A1989 31.3" 2018 screen. I want to order it online but am not sure if what am buying is compatible. May you please help and give me some more clarity??? Thanks
It can be rescued if the logic board can be repaired. You can find more info on our logic board repair service at this link: www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/pages.php?pageid=67
If you hate yourself it's possible. Just did it, required chiseling it out since in their infinite wisdom Apple glued it in. You could use wire if you're lucky and it doesn't break like mine did.
Collie House Yes, you can replace it. It is called the BMU flex cable. We sell it on our website if you need one. Here is the link, www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBook-Pro-15-w--Touch-Bar-BMU-Flex-Cable-Mid-2018-p-183993.html
Thanks. Mine is now removed and will only power on now when plugged into the charger. Is that normal? The battery seems dead with the wire disconnected.
Does the 13" Macbook Pro have two fans? I wanted to see how much trouble it is to reapply the thermal paste, but I see the screws are underneath the CPU cooler and the board has to come out completely... I am not happy with that Apple....
As of right now no. However Apple could potentially " flip the switch" at any time via an update that would make user installed parts require mating to the T2 chip.
You don't take the display apart on this model as it is fused together. You will have to replace the entire display assembly if you have a problem with it.
@@PowerbookMedic UGH Well that sucks! I took away the "dislike". Why do they make it like that? That's a bit expensive if just the camera doesn't work. I'm working my friends Macbook and I'm sure she doesn't' want to buy a whole screen just to fix a camera issue. Thanks for the reply.
