Good morning, my school doesn’t require Google Classroom. They use Verge in Georgia. Can I use Google products like Google slides and a daily attendance without having a Google Classroom? If not, what are workarounds? Are power-points just as effective and powerful?
EZ EdTech! Thanks. We can upload. However can I use google slides without having a google classroom? The district or school has to sign off on the platform but we’re not issuing Google Classroom. The district uses Verge.
Okay. I played around with it for a bitmoji classroom and was able to save the Google slide as a PowerPoint for a PowerPoint presentation. I’ll see what I can do for taking the roll. I can manipulate google slides and save it as a PowerPoint. That worked. It’s not interactive. However I’m fine with that. I’ll learn more as I go. Thanks for responding to my original question.
I’m creating an assignment but the only thing students do is MARK as DONE. Then I look at who didn’t turn anything in and I mark absences. I use google meet so I also use an attendance add on. I figure some students may mark as done but not attend class in Meet :/
This is wonderful. Thank you. One struggle I have with Google Drive is all of these forms and things stay in my Drive. Is there a quick way to delete these student responses each day or week after I have recorded the attendance in my district’s grade book?
Hi, I'm loving your tutorials. I learn something new each time. Could you do a video on how students can turn in any assignment? I started using my Google classroom last week with a student I'm tutoring. But he keeps telling me he can't turn in assignments. On my side, the Turn in button worked the first day and I turned in a quiz I'd sent him to do on Quizizz for him. By the way, I've imported Google Classroom into Quizizz, but I haven't used it in there yet, except to send an invite link from Quizizz. I also sent the student an invite from GC. I don't know if that is causing the issue. Anyway, since I've done that turn in, the button seems inactive as it's remained grey. I've asked the student to send me a screenshot from his device so I can see what is happening from his side, but he hasn't done so. He's doing the assignments which I mostly create using a Google form, and I can see and assess the responses in Google Forms, but when I ask him to turn in the assignment from Google Classroom, and I've shown him screenshots of how to do this, he says he's unable to. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is there something the student is failing to do? Also, how do I see 'Student's View' as you did in this video?
Karen Taylor i am literally working on a video on that right now! It should be released this afternoon. There is no student view in GC. I add myself as a student with a different email address.
I have another way of doing this that seems to be easier. I also do a participation grade so I assign a point value to the attendance sheet and then import to google classroom. From here I can easily see who was on time and who was tardy. I teach high school so for me, this is easier. Not trying to step on your toes but we all need different ideas. Thanks
GEORGE Evans not stepping on my toes at all! I really appreciate new ideas! That’s what I was alluding to with the do now assignment or something like that to count for attendance. I like your idea though. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this video. One tip I got from another RU-vidr for having multiple spreadsheets (one spreadsheet per day) in one "workbook" is to have Google Sheets attach the responses in a new tab to an existing spreadsheet and rename the spreadsheet tab (Form Response #)for the date (Attendance on mm/dd). This helps keep the data a bit easier to read over a series of spreadsheets instead of one long list.
@@lwong1836 Yes, there are a couple of ways. First, copy the Google Form and rename it for each period so the data is captured by period (or subject or class section, etc.). The other way to do this is to include a required question (perhaps a drop down one) where the students select which class period they are taking. Then on the spreadsheet, you can sort the data based on that criterion. I hope these ideas answer your question. Good luck this semester!
